The space is clearly marked with pink boundary flags and includes three roomy areas perfect for pitching tents, parking an SUV, or setting up a small campervan. Pop-up campers can fit, but space is tight and better for simple setups.
The front of the property is grassy and open, while the rear features a wooded section with a short walking path. Behind the site is a larger wooded parcel that isn’t part of the Hipcamp, but it adds to the secluded, natural feel.
Just a 4–5 minute walk brings you to a quiet public access point to Lake Huron. The road dead-ends at private homes, and between them is a public footpath to the beach. Before the shoreline, you'll find a small 20-yard-wide wooded area where our guests can set up chairs and enjoy the view—feel free to walk beyond to the sandy beach as well. While the campsite isn’t totally secluded—there are a few nearby homes and occasional daytime traffic—you’ll still enjoy full privacy on your acre with room to unwind, make a fire, and relax under the stars.

There are three Lake View Units. One has a full size bed and the other two each have two twin beds. These do not have plumbing, they do have electric with a microwave, mini fridge and portable air conditioner or heater.
This building is located at the road level near the beach. A fire pit with chairs is located in front of the building overlooking our 90 acre private lake!
The bathrooms, showers, laundry room and commercial kitchen are located at the main lodge which is a short distance away.

Private One-Acre Campsite Near the Beach
Enjoy a peaceful and affordable escape just minutes from Lake Huron with this one-acre private campsite in Au Gres, Michigan. When you book, you get the entire property to yourself—no other campers. The space is clearly marked with pink boundary flags and includes three roomy areas perfect for pitching tents, parking an SUV, or setting up a small campervan. Pop-up campers can fit, but space is tight and better for simple setups.
The front of the property is grassy and open, while the rear features a wooded section with a short walking path. Behind the site is a larger wooded parcel that isn’t part of the Hipcamp, but it adds to the secluded, natural feel.
Just a 4–5 minute walk brings you to a quiet public access point to Lake Huron. The road dead-ends at private homes, and between them is a public footpath to the beach. Before the shoreline, you'll find a small 20-yard-wide wooded area where our guests can set up chairs and enjoy the view—feel free to walk beyond to the sandy beach as well. While the campsite isn’t totally secluded—there are a few nearby homes and occasional daytime traffic—you’ll still enjoy full privacy on your acre with room to unwind, make a fire, and relax under the stars.
This spot is best for couples or small groups looking for a low-key beach getaway close to nature and just 10 minutes from the shops and restaurants of Au Gres and Tawas City.

Genuinely such an amazing experience at Camp Bear Paw!! Kevin and Lori are phenomenal hosts. It’s truly a hidden gem. There’s activities for kids all ages and adults. Anything you may have forgotten (chairs, ice, worms, fishing poles , cooking supplies , etc.) they have it all! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience or hosts. Kevin and Laurie are Top Notch. My and family and I have had the privilege of staying at Bear Paw 3 times.
Our kids love to swim in the pond, fish, and explore the grounds. There plenty of playgrounds and for the kids to playWe enjoy sitting by the fire using the wood that’s provided.
Kevin and Laurie not only keep the grounds well maintained but they genuinely care. They check on us periodically throughout the stay to see if we need anything. It’s clear to see that providing a memory-filled camping experience is what they strive for.
We have camped at state parks and county parks as well, but Bear Paw rises to the top for us!

I chose to stay at The Only Spot as it was within 15 min or so of my relatives and some friends. We were on an extended trip to MI to escape the southern heat. So when my husband had to fly back for work this spot worked great as there aren't a lot of camping options around.
It is a quiet area so it's a great place to kick back and relax with a good book.(You do hear the Crystal race on Saturday night but its not bad) I enjoyed seeing the sunrise at Duck Lake in the morning then going to see the sunset at Crystal. I also enjoyed having the windows open and having the cool breeze from the lake even though it was across the street.
The ice cream at Ike's was great. The little store in Crystal I found some food items I needed along with refilling my propane tank.
I kayaked at the lake as we brought our own. It's a small lake but peaceful as there is not alot of boat traffic.
Jennifer was a great host and was responsive to the few question I had.
I would stay here again.

Lovely little hidden gem. Took my grandkids and they had a blast at the pond. We brought our own kayaks but there were 3 already there for use. Hosts are super nice and accommodating. I've found my new favorite place to camp.

I absolutely loved it! It's very private, peaceful completely in nature. The swimming hole was absolutely awesome! Me and my 4 year old had a blast. We kayaked they had community kayaks, fished and swam. There are trails those were nice too have multiple exits in case you don't want to walk the whole thing. Water and portajohn was close like a 5 mins walk from our site. I would go again for sure! Chip came and took our garbage too! There's cooking grates for open fire cooking, firewood provided. Was just a great spot to get away and shut off for a while!

My partner and I absolutely loved this site! It is definitely the one to choose if you are looking for privacy, it is far enough away from the other sites that noise from the common area doesn’t carry over. Not a lot of sun makes it through the trees, which made tent sleeping very comfortable! The trails on the property were very pretty and we loved fishing in the lake, the baby bluegill are pretty hilarious, and I caught a good sized catfish! We also loved the free firewood, we will definitely be back next summer!

This place is beautiful! We had site A, which was the most secluded and perfect for those that have fur children. There was a lovely pond with kayaks to use as well as lawn chairs. The directions were easy to follow, and Chip had firewood already set up, the fire ring was nice and big. It's probably 10 minutes from Mt. Pleasant, a perfect place that feels like you're out in the middle of nowhere with the conveniences nearby. Definitely will be back here again!

Great, peaceful spot with easy access to two lakes! Very peaceful with lots of wildlife and all the necessities you need (sewer, water and electric hookup). Very large lot so you have room to spread out! Firepit and wood provided for cozy bonfires. Would highly recommend and look forward to coming back!

Absolutely beautiful spot right off the lake and by a nice lagoon. Lots of birdwatching and squirrels and rabbit watching. Beautiful flowers!. Good fishing. Nice concrete pad with tons of other amenities. We will definitely be back!
