This property was once part of an 80 acre farm. It has now grown into a mature forest with deer, turkey, squirrels, chipmunks, many types of songbirds and most recently a family of sandhill cranes. Our most recent improvement is an air conditioner in the Crow's Nest. Sheila grew up just across the road and spent many hours riding her horse and writing poetry on the property.
No discharge of firearms is allowed on this property.
As a retired artist, we love to entertain creative peaceful people and many think of our place as a quiet sanctuary that encourages creativity. We provide games, both outdoor and indoor, a screen house, hammock, nature trails and a new camp store with local items and snacks. There is an Amish community close by and a tour map is provided. We are also close to the largest canopy walk in the US at Whiting Forest and Dow Gardens. Only 25 minutes away. There is a small water park in the closest town with a beach. Locally there is tubing and canoeing at the Cedar River in Gladwin and kayaking at Pinconning Park on Saginaw Bay. Guests can explore many antique shops as well as Pinconna and Northwoods Outlet store. Many of our campers never leave the property but choose to relax and watch the life of the forest.
We provide linens, towels, and cookware. There is a grill outside and a microwave and oven inside along with a coffee maker and mini fridge.

"Elysium Heritage Farm" is situated on 120 acres in Northeast, MI surrounded by woods, trails, ponds and canals. It's only a ten-minute drive to Pinconning, where you can experience Michigan's "Cheese Town" and all it has to offer. There's a grocery store, numerous cheese shops, and a variety of party stores and restaurants. For the outdoor enthusiasts, don't miss out on going to the ever-famous "Northwoods Wholesale Outlet". Also nearby is the "Saganing Eagles Landing Casino" in Standish. We have resided here for over 30 years and can assist you in many ways to get the most out of your visit.
By the way, the definition of the word "Elysium" is "Place of perfect bliss" and yes, we labeled it that long before the movie with Matt Damon was created.

We are across the street from Little Long lake and right up the road from Budd Lake public boat launches. We have deeded lake access to Little Long Lake with use of our paddle boat and kayaks. We can provide parking with a boat, trailer, etc., but will need to be arranged prior to check-in.
There are several restaurants, delivery options, and a grocery store right down the road. There is also a putt putt golf, skiing and snow tubing at Snow Snake, arcade, batting cages, bowling, indoor golf, ax throwing, beaches and Wilson State Park.
If you have side-by-sides, quads, jeeps, snowmobiles, or dirt bikes, there are endless options with groomed trails in the area for you to ride all day long.
Our property has two cabins on property, the Harrison Hideaway cabin and Wanderer's Hideaway that can be rented together for larger groups or rented separately. Please message me if you would like to rent both cabins for you and your guests.

A 1/4 mile hike on a mowed footpath path laced with wildflowers in the summer and fall and lit with solar lights will take you to the cabin. You'll be welcomed with a covered porch for enjoying sunsets and a bonfire pit for unwinding.
This 100% off-grid cabin greets you with rustic finishes throughout and touches of modern convenience. A hand pump in the warmer months gives you fresh well water, and we provide 15 gallons of water in a dispenser. The back covered porch boasts a cooking area with a propane grill and 1 side burner. We provide the propane. The loft offers comfortable space for 4 sleepers with beautiful views of the meadow. In the cold months, the cabin is heated with a propane fireplace, which is perfect for relaxing by with a cup of French press coffee.
This is a primitive, off-grid experience. There is no running water, electricity, or traditional plumbing. Please look carefully at the pictures. Access to the loft (where the beds are) is only accessed by a wood ladder. If you have mobility issues, balance issues, are afraid of heights , or cannot properly use a ladder, please seriously consider if this is the right place for you. Your safety and comfort is important to us!

Weekend Trip to Dingle Dangle Acres
This is an amazing cabin with all the amenities a person could ever think of. It really felt like I was staying in my super cool aunts cabin who knew I needed a long break. The land was beautiful, the cabin had so many wonderful cooking options from nice stainless steel to cast iron and easy to use air fryer. Plus a good portion of spices. The beds were so comfy! I need to find out what pillow topper she uses. Was easy to clean with all the mops and scrubs, which is essential when you got doggies. Speaking of doggies, it is hard to ware out a shepherd and a black lab, they slept like logs both nights. They both have pretty good recall, so giving them the opportunity to really run in the woods, around the cleared out area nearby the cabin, and pond was fun for them. It is private, beautifully dark at night so you can see the stars so well. The nearby town of tawas was fantastic. And stop at Joe's Market on the way in on 65 and get the best cut of meat and great sweet corn.
Good internet too! So you can post all the pictures to make your friends jealous.
Seriously relaxing and incredibly enjoyable. Might even be back next weekend.

Group trip
We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin. My son, daughter in law and grandbaby enjoyed hours watching the turtles and fish, walking the trails and meeting the farm animals while learning about Elysiums history. Will always remember morning coffee on the porch, baby's first campfire and playing Frisbee behind the cabin. We hope to return next year!

Weekend Trip to Beehive Air Therapy Cabin
I had a really peaceful and productive writing and reading solo retreat weekend here. The smell and sound of the hive is incredible and difficult to describe; the outside space around the cabin is also very nice, and I spent a lot of time there, but I kept finding myself going back in to hang out with the bees. It was a hot weekend, but the window and a small fan kept it really comfortable, and the fan was quiet enough I could still hear the bees. The outdoor kitchen is perfectly set up, and the hosts were incredibly kind and helpful. I'm definitely looking forward to another visit.

It was hot , Michigan-summer hot, but I hadn't driven out to this little cabin on stilts, tucked at the back of my friends' farm, to sit in climate-controlled silence. Each bed here has small holes cut into it, so you can hear the hive living just beneath you. I lay down, put my ear to one, and listened. At one point I shifted just right so I could see through the holes and through the screens into the hive itself. Golden late-day sunlight was spilling in through the entrance, catching the wings of the bees as they scurried in and out. Such a small, ordinary miracle, and one of the most beautiful things I saw all weekend.
I tried the hive air mask too, breathing in the scent straight from the colony, nothing like honey, more mineral and warm, and it caught me off guard in the best way. I did my first meditation right there, hive breath and hive sound as my only guides, kicking off a weekend of solitude I'd been looking forward to for a long time.
The days took their own rhythm. I brought three books and finished two, plus an audiobook I listened to while lying flat over the hives. My Shakti mat came out for a session that, laced with the hum below, was some of the most soothing meditation I've done. I cooked over the fire and in the sweet little outdoor kitchen, played music, journaled more than I have in months.

We had a wonderful time at the Crow’s Nest! The walkway up gives a folklore vibe. The trails around the property allow you to decompress from whatever may be stressing you out. And the camping/glamping feel was perfect for our first timer.
Sheila and Jeff personally accommodated to us with our needs and questions. You both were so sweet and accommodating. Your lifestyle to give back and help truly shows and I will be back to forest bathe there again in the future! Thank you again for sharing with us.

We had a beautiful time here. Amazing place to disappear to. Absolutely wonderful property with extremely helpful and responsive hosts. We loved the ability to take a little canoe trip, and went for several long walks in the woods without seeing any neighbors. Loved every minute!

This Hipcamp was the perfect retreat for a quiet weekend in the woods. It was cozy, comfortable, and it had everything we needed. Sheila and Jeff were friendly and welcoming while also giving us privacy. There is a path through the woods that was a good length for a slow meditation. We will be visiting again!

Sheila and Jeff are fantastic, welcoming hosts! I loved chatting and getting to know them. When I went out and about, they gave me great recommendations for routes and places to stop. It was fairly rainy and wet during my stay, but I loved the cozy, dry warmth of the Crow's Nest and definitely recommend it to others!

Awesome spot, super beautiful, and Jeremy is great. One major thing to keep in mind: you will definitely want a 4WD vehicle if there has been heavy rain, the dirt road can get flooded out. Otherwise, great place and can’t wait to go back.
