The property is located just (5) miles off I-75 so it's also a convenient mid-trip destination for those on a longer distance excursion. In case you plan on fishing the local hotspots on Lake Huron (15 minutes away) and are trailering a boat, there is plenty of area to park your rig during your stay. It's only a ten-minute drive to Pinconning, where you can experience Michigan's "Cheese Town" and all it has to offer. There's a grocery store, numerous cheese shops, and a variety of party stores and restaurants. For the outdoor enthusiasts, don't miss out on going to the ever-famous "Northwoods Wholesale Outlet". My wife and I are slowly starting up our own little farm. We have 2 indoor cats, 1 outdoor cat, a dog, chickens and two ducks. We are on 34 acres and have a river that runs through the middle of it. We are 10 minutes from Alma and 20 minutes from Mt Pleasant. Lumberjack park is about 2 minutes away and Stearns preserve is about 5 mins away where you can walk or ride bike on a nice paved trail. We have a small garden that we plant every summer and plan to start a small farm stand this year. We are in a quiet area with lots of wildlife. We have 1 spot near the house with a view of the river that can support electric hook for a smaller RV and can attach a garden hose for water if needed. We do have a “field” that RVs can use but there is no hook up and there ground may not be level. We have many options for rustic tent camping along the river. No public restroom available. We can also provide some fire wood for campfires for a small cost. Along the river fires are allowed but must be contained in a fire ring. If camping by the field fires will be dependent on conditions. We have 3 kayaks and a canoe that can be used with prior consent. There is a park up river where you can put in and then can exit at our house which is about an hour on the river. We are very new to this and just purchased a UTV so we will be able to start making trails and clearing areas. But for now, camping along the river you will have to walk (and carry belongings) through tall grass to the site you desire. Quiet time 11 pm. We are an easy going couple that just want to share this slice of paradise with others! WiFi available

Our family moved from Metro Detroit area here to Mecosta in 2019 in search of a more fulfilling life. We have found just that with this beautiful property and in our homesteading and campground adventure. We were drawn to a calming and grounding energy in these trees; a feeling echoed by many who visit here. We have two community camping areas, each large enough for up to 20 people. We also have a few more intimate spots for complete seclusion. These spots are suitable for about 4-6 people.  All rustic camping.  Toilets and handwashing stations on site. Extra vehicles, trailers, etc. can be parked in our gravel lot.  Ice and firewood available for sale on site.  The land borders 6000 acres of public wilderness including Martiny Chain of Lakes. Lots of hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and river floating nearby. Feel free to ask us anytime before or during your stay for our favorite spots, or if we can offer our services to help accommodate any special off-site trips you'd like to plan.As your host, we strive to provide a "home away from home" feel when you visit.    We have a small hobby farm up front by the house, where you're welcome to come visit our goats and chickens. My wife and I are slowly starting up our own little farm. We have 2 indoor cats, 1 outdoor cat, a dog, chickens and two ducks. We are on 34 acres and have a river that runs through the middle of it. We are 10 minutes from Alma and 20 minutes from Mt Pleasant. Lumberjack park is about 2 minutes away and Stearns preserve is about 5 mins away where you can walk or ride bike on a nice paved trail. We have a small garden that we plant every summer and plan to start a small farm stand this year. We are in a quiet area with lots of wildlife. We have 1 spot near the house with a view of the river that can support electric hook for a smaller RV and can attach a garden hose for water if needed. We do have a “field” that RVs can use but there is no hook up and there ground may not be level. We have many options for rustic tent camping along the river. No public restroom available. We can also provide some fire wood for campfires for a small cost. Along the river fires are allowed but must be contained in a fire ring. If camping by the field fires will be dependent on conditions. We have 3 kayaks and a canoe that can be used with prior consent. There is a park up river where you can put in and then can exit at our house which is about an hour on the river. We are very new to this and just purchased a UTV so we will be able to start making trails and clearing areas. But for now, camping along the river you will have to walk (and carry belongings) through tall grass to the site you desire. Quiet time 11 pm. Weekend Trip to Barney Lake Vista
Our long weekend at Barney Lake Vista was everything we hoped for and more. The fall colors were absolutely stunning — miles and miles of golden and red trees surrounding the lake. The site itself was private, peaceful, and perfectly maintained. Even the toilet was spotless and just the right distance from camp. The sounds of nature were constant and comforting — birds chirping all day, a few gobbling turkeys, and at night, the distant howls of what we think was a pack of coyotes. My wife joked they were celebrating something. It was beautiful to listen to, far enough away to keep the night peaceful. The night sky was incredible — so many stars, it felt magical. Our two senior dachshunds loved it too, especially soaking up the sun in the crisp fall air. Adam and Sarah were wonderful hosts — friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. They even dropped off a bunch of dry wood after a rainy day without us asking. It made our nights by the fire perfect. Having grocery stores just 10 minutes away was super convenient, too. Overall, this spot is everything you want for a relaxing, scenic getaway — quiet, beautiful, and full of nature’s charm. We can’t wait to come back! 🌲🔥

Absolutely beautiful retreat! Private wooded camping site with adorable outhouse. We arrived around 7pm and Kim surprised us with our camp fire burning to welcome us. The next morning we wandered endless forest trails finding new areas to explore around every corner. Small ponds, wandering canals, covered bridge, adorable goat paddocks, friendly hens, comical emus, tiny beaches, etc. There is something for everyone but it was just perfect for what we needed. Thank you Kim & Jeff; we loved our stay.

We stayed at River Daze and had a nice, quiet getaway. The host was very friendly and helpful — he was waiting when we arrived, guided us to our spot, and even had the water and electric hookups ready to go. The property sits right on the Tobacco River, which would be great in the summer for kayaking, canoeing, or tubing. It was beautiful in the fall. There are a few walking trails, and it’s less than a half mile to town, which is super convenient. There is a porta-john close for convenience. It felt cozy and tucked-away. Overall, it was peaceful, clean, and the host clearly puts care into making guests comfortable.

The farm is gorgeous — over 100 acres of peaceful, open land with amazing views of the stars and moon at night. I got to hang out with deer, goats, emus, cats, and dogs!! Kim, the host, is one of the most gracious and welcoming people you’ll ever meet. She really takes care of her guests and makes sure you have everything you need. Customer service? Chef’s kiss. I booked the farm camp for me and my then girlfriend, now fiancée for a weekend tent camping trip. It was our first camping trip together and the farm camp had plenty of amenities. The composting toilet was very clean, the covered picnic bench and fire grill was all we really needed for food, but there was a grill available for us it use as well. There were plenty of chairs too! The only thing missing was a shower but we used the BP gas station for showers. Only cost $5 per shower. There was tons of trails to walk down and if you love animals there were all sorts of critters to see. The pigeon cages are right next to the farm camp and you can hear them softly cooing from the camp if you listen carefully. There were a couple kittens, tons of chickens, some ginormous rabbits, and my favorites were the friendly goats! The campsite was extremely private. Those that are looking for a romantic getaway should strongly consider this place!

This was a spectacular campsite - we booked a last-minute camping trip with friends and this little forest & farm were exactly what we needed. Woke up to farm fresh eggs, coffee over the fire and then did a little farm walk followed by mushroom foraging on the property (found some awesome species!). Kim was so helpful and welcoming, she even helped up hose off our muddy dog after a spill lol. She told us of some planned additions to the land that they’re working on and I’m very excited to come back and see the projects in full swing. Hipcamp never fails to lead us to awesome sites with interesting folks that are generous enough to share them with us - this is another one for the book!

We had an amazing romantic getaway at Adam and Sara’s Barney Lake Vista. The overlooking view showcased the stunning fall colors across the landscape, creating a breathtaking backdrop for our stay. In the morning, we were delighted to see a flock of turkeys running through the open field below, adding to the charm of the location. The directions were easy to follow and find, ensuring a hassle-free arrival. The outhouse was perfectly clean, and putting the truck in four-wheel drive made easy work getting up the approach. Quiet, despite a nearby road/bridge, and situated on the Tobacco River, Riverdaze offered me a private retreat while visiting friends nearby. I stayed for 3 nights with two pups and enjoyed the hospitality of the host as well as the convenience of nearby activities and restaurants. The hosts are putting work into the property, with improvements, and I'll keep it in mind if in the area again. The sites are perfect for tenters, small trailers, or those interested in boondocking with fire rings and picnic tables provided. A new treehouse and available water activities are great for families and adventurists.

I have almost an acre my wife and I are turning into a small private camping experience. Lot it’s fully wooded plenty of shade located just south of west branch so conveniently close to shopping. Miles and miles of local trails and hunting locations only minutes down the road or a short drive to the Saint Helen trail system without all the congestion of staying locally. Each site is different to meet different needs all are rustic one tent/small camper or pop up the other is setup to take a camper up to around 25 ft. Main campsite is still under construction and the shed is being converted into a cabin but you could bring your camper. There currently is a small solar system for electric and a rain water collection system with filter and an outdoor camp shower with hot water and over 500 gallons reservoir and outhouse in the works next. We had a storm possible tornado I wasn’t here but did major damage to many trees and knocked down several others I’m looking for people willing to trade a few hours of labor for free camping tasks will be assigned based on capabilities from moving and burning branches to running chainsaw and wood splitter and if knowledgeable in construction have stairs and deck/platforms and other related projects associated with building a campground.

Well-behaved, leashed/staked dogs welcome; we just kindly ask you to pick up their poo. We often have cornhole and croquet sets out on the lawn RVers are welcome to use. Peaceful, gorgeous, wooded, and a quick jaunt to the village of Crystal, where there's a one-screen movie theatre screening first-run films on weekends, Ike's Ice Cream shop, two gas stations, two bars, restaurants, and a pizza joint. Blanchard's Grocery store is also located in Crystal, and Crystal Raceway is just a couple of miles away. Enjoy the peacefulness, or head to town for all of the action. The Crystal Public Beach area has just been newly revamped and is gorgeous and active with lots of boats on the weekend anchoring by the shore and live music in the park.
