Riverview Kiah

2 sites · RVs, Tents60 acres · Kiah, NSW
Riverview Kiah is offering one campsite nestled on a very quiet part of the Kiah/Towamba river. To minimize impact on neighbors and make your stay more enjoyable, there is only one campsite offered on the whole property, so apart from the owners you will have it all to yourselves. You will need to be a self-contained camper who brings their own camping toilet/shower. We offer access to water via a 1000l pod that is close to the campsite. This water is drinkable and may be used to fill jerry cans/ wash etc. We just ask you to please be frugal with usage. The campsite is situated on a grassy knoll a mere 30m away from your own private beach, which is ideal for fishing kayaking and swimming. The Kiah / Towamba river is well renowned for its excellent fishing. Live bait or soft plastics are best. Live bait can be sourced at nearby Nullica beach or alternatively, frozen prawn's, pipis or salted pilchards also yield success. Some of the species that call the river home are, Flathead, Bream, Luderick, Whiting, Estuary Pearch, Jewfish, Mullet and Flounder. If you bring your kayaks, canoe or roof top tinny the river is very picturesque with unique photo opportunities and an abundance of wildlife. You can head upstream for a way but if you're feeling up to it, it's about a 2.5-hour paddle (at a slow steady pace) to the mouth of the river where Davidsons whaling station is located, as well as the view across the bay to Eden. If you time it right, you can go and return with the tide. Two kayaks and life jackets are provided with all bookings so that people without their own equipment are able to explore the pristine waterway. There is a large firepit near the river that may be utilized as long as there is no total fire ban in effect. If you have your own firepit that can also be used but there are to be no fires on beach or bare earth. Firewood can be provided at an extra cost, (please select in extras, 1 bundle will last 2 nights on average). Directions will be provided 48 hours before arrival; you are welcome to head straight to camp although if around I will meet and greet you upon arrival. If you would like to bring your pet, please contact us to discuss first.

So Good Farm

10 sites · Lodging, Tents200 acres · Wyndham, NSW
We purchased our 200-acre property after it was devastated by the Summer 2019/20 bushfires. We are new to farming and are learning to live on the land. The property came with sheep which we are also learning a lot about, we also have an extremely friendly kelpie named Sage. We are interested in the idea of becoming organic farmers, love to do our bit for the environment, and want to live a more sustainable lifestyle. We grow herbs and vegetables, have a few fruit trees, and can't wait to plant more. We have fallen in love with farming life and want our farm to be a place of learning and enjoyment and can't wait to share the little place we call home. So Good Farm is situated 20 minutes west of Pambula Beach on the Sapphire Coast. The property is surrounded by trees and is filled with an abundance of wildlife. There is a creek that runs through the property and a spring feed dam. Plenty of walking tracks throughout the hilly property with amazing views at various spots, especially the peak of the property, if you are up for the challenge. The property also backs onto a national park. The closest town is only 5min away where you can pick up food supplies and fuel.

Farm and dog-friendly camping near Mallacoota guide

Overview

Sitting pretty on the shores of the Mallacoota Inlet, just a short drive from the VIC-NSW border, Mallacoota is a small town with big views. Whether you want to hike along rocky coves and sea cliffs; swim, snorkel, and paddleboard at the sandy beaches; or watch the kangaroos at Gipsy Point—you’re never far from the water in Mallacoota. Head inland to admire the views at Genoa Falls, enjoy boating and water sports at Top Lake and Bottom Lake, and go fishing and bird-watching along the inlet. Campers have a choice of holiday parks, caravan parks, and campgrounds, with a mix of powered sites and tent sites.

Where to go

Croajingolong National Park

Granite cliffs, rocky headlands, and white-sand beaches stretch along the coast at Croajingolong National Park, just a short drive south of Mallacoota. Paddle around the inlets in a kayak or canoe, hike along rugged coastal trails, and look out for wildlife, including koalas, platypuses, whales, and more than 300 species of bird. The five national park campgrounds have unpowered sites with BBQs, picnic tables, and non-flush toilets.

Gabo Island

Marooned off the coast of Mallacoota and Cape Howe, Gabo Island is known for its rocky shores, diverse wildlife, and historic lighthouse. Cruise out to the island by boat or take a short seaplane flight and spot Little Penguins, dolphins, and whales around the jetty. Glampers can even stay overnight in the old lighthouse keepers’ cottage.

Coopracambra National Park

If you’re looking to escape the crowds, Coopracambra National Park is the place. This is one of Victoria’s most remote and rugged conservation areas, where you can hike along wilderness trails or explore off-road in a 4WD. Bush camping is permitted within the park, but there are no facilities, so you’ll need to bring everything you need with you.

When to go

Blessed with cool summer breezes and the warmest winter temperatures in all of Victoria, Mallacoota is a year-round destination for outdoor adventurers. Summer is the best time to hit the beach, and the small town fills up with vacationers over the Christmas and Easter holidays. To avoid the crowds, come in late spring or early autumn instead, when it’s still warm enough to swim.
