Tanah Merdeka is a 184 acre cattle farm currently stocked with Black Baldies, Speckle Park, Angus and Hereford.
The creek line paddocks are dedicated to Hipcampers, so you can be assured your campsite won't be interrupted by curious cows during your stay. We can't say the same for the wild kangaroos that call Tanah Merdeka home though.
Please be respectful of the working nature of the property and shut any gates you go through except for the automatic gates. Please respect our privacy and don't venture up the driveway towards the house.
You are welcome to walk through and explore the paddocks containing the creek line. Do not drive across the creek - walking and bicycles only.
Please do not feed the wildlife or the cattle and practice leave no trace camping. For stays longer than one night campers must bring a portable chemical toilet. Use only the firepit provided and comply with current fire danger restrictions. Some firewood may be available next to the firepit but please bring your own firewood if intending to have a fire as this can't be guaranteed.

We had a wonderful stay at Strathspey. The property is easy to find and well located for exploring the Barossa. Sam and her family were so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We even had a visit from the farm dog which was a lovely surprise. We’d definitely come back if we’re in the area again!

Amazing experience! The campsite was easy to find and really lovely. We picked the river upstream site and loved it. The alpacas were roaming near us so we spent a bit of time sitting on our chairs just watching them. Loved it, would definitely stay again!

Enjoyed a very peaceful weekend away to ease into the New Year. My husband, adult son and I spent the weekend sitting outside the caravan, chatting and watching the birds and sheep and just enjoying the serenity , when it was too windy we played board and card games inside the van til it died down again. Wasnt so serene then as we are very competitive lol. The property was easy to find and was flat. Being summer it was very dry but the dogs had no issues with prickles/grass seeds etc and one of them did not want to leave. All 3 of us have different phone services and none of us had reception, suited us just fine but others may not like. We got what we went for and will be return visitors.

Camping at Kangaroo Creek was lovely! Thomas met us upon arrival and told us about his beautiful land (and his adorable cows!). He was really nice and let us explore the grounds.
The camp spot was private, quiet and was great for pitching our tent. We even saw a couple of kangaroos and a lot of cockatoos! The drive there was easy with a 2WD.
We would definitely go back, and I can recommend it to everyone regardless of camping style!

Was a great farmstay, plenty of room, beautiful views, your on top of the world/plateau, great base to explore Hahndorf, Monarto Safari Park, Adelaide Hills, great host.
Only negative and I think 🤔 it was just unlucky for us that it was very windy. It got to the stage of uncomfortable but locals that we chatted to said the wind was not normal. Stay was Xmas 2025.
Would recommend stay but take warm clothes just in case the weather changes. We had looked at temps before we left home but the wind was unexpected.
