Set in a gully with a winter creek (Willow Creek) running through (dry in warmer months). Conveniently located within walking distance to the main street of Clarendon - five minutes to the Bakery and 10 minutes to the Royal Oak Hotel and General Store! The property offers the best views of Clarendon via a short walk to the top paddock. There is a limit of 2 private, protected campsites near the creek, each well-maintained and level, with scattered gum trees that provide lovely shade in the morning and afternoon. Camp Toondilla is set up for self-contained campers who bring their own camp toilet and take all waste with them when they go. Well-behaved pets are welcome. Plenty of options in the area to keep the outdoor enthusiast busy, including: nearby wineries (some dog friendly), beaches (Moana and Aldinga/Silver Sands can be driven on), reservoirs (Mt Bold - hiking and views) and (Happy Valley - hiking, running, kayaking, fishing), Onkaparinga National Park and Scott Creek Conservation Park, ForestrySA land (including TreeClimb, Bone Gully MTB and parkrun on Saturdays at The Avenues - Kuitpo (Your host is the Event Director). Bakery, General Store, Clarendon Bowling Club, Riverbend Reserve, Op-shop and Emprades (antiques shop) and Royal Oak Hotel all in the mainstreet of town. The property is a private farm with 2 dams and views extending across the valley. There are a number of suitable locations to for bush camping. Site access is limited to dry weather and vehicles with single axle camper trailer or tent. Vehicles with higher ground clearance are more suitable. The River Upstream is the flattest of the campgrounds if you require a completely level site for your vehicle. A number of alpacas and sheep share the camp grounds. Sites suit bush camping with limited amenities. Potable water is available upon request but there are no toilets or services on site. There are a number of great wineries in the area all with excellent food and produce you can enjoy. Close to: Hahndorf - 5 min drive Stirling - 10 min drive Mount Lofty - 15 min drive Tour Down under (TDU) - passes at the end of the road several wineries Campers must be self contained with their own camping toilet and water and take all rubbish with them upon departure. Due to the livestock on site dogs unfortunately are not allowed. 1. Fires are only permitted outside of fire ban days 2. Nearest toilets are in Mylor. Please do not do number 2's in the bush or leave toilet paper around. 3. Please leave the site as you found it (remove rubbish etc.) 4. Please plan to arrive in daylight hours as campsites are unmarked and can be difficult to locate at night 5. Please be respectful of neighbours and avoid playing loud music.

The site is suited to people who want a quiet secure base from which to explore the region. Camp site is fully fenced on 5 acres. No chemicals used on the block. The camp site is on a section of 5 acres of this property. Its location is approximately 5 min drive from the Murray River where you can enjoy boating, swimming, and fishing at Woodlane Reserve. Majestic river red gums in the area make for beautiful walks along the bitumen road as seen in the photos. Mypolonga is a small agricultural town. The location is reasonably quiet however at peak times you may be able to hear boats from the river, or the other agricultural pursuits on the farms. The location is approximately 20 km from Murray Bridge and 1 hour from Adelaide and the Barossa Valley. Monarto Safari Park is 25km away and there is private wetlands Paiwalla on the opposite side of the river which you visit by kayak/canoe or drive. We are currently not allowing children or dogs. Cats are acceptable. Potable water is available at the site. A small extra fee will be charged depending on your requirements. If you need a protected area for your gas burner cooking there is a solid brick room available also.

Great little spot off the main road and perfect distance to Clarendon township which offers a great pub and bakery. We were able to allow our dog to wonder without issue and would be great area for families. Would stay again.

We had a lovely stay at Toondilla 1. Beautiful spot, a wonderful nature getaway. The instructions were very helpful and accurate, the 2 sites are well maintained and far enough apart to ensure peace and privacy. There was plenty of level space for the set up of our camper trailer and annexe. Steve was a very welcoming host and provided great suggestions for exploring the surrounding area. We walked to the bakery for a coffee and pastry each day and enjoyed a meal from the hotel one evening. Would definitely recommend as a lovely camping spot and keen for another visit in the future.

A lovely peaceful spot. Steven owner was very helpful & responsive to text messages. A narrow and little steep descent to the site but rewarded when you get down there, perfectly ok if you are a competent driver.

This spot is a lovely hidden gem. Surrounded by lush green trees and hillside for privacy, I would highly recommend. We even had a little visitor (koala) the first night. The only thing I would say is we found it very hard (with our 22.6ft off road van), to get out, due to a overhanging gum tree at the exit. It was mm from hitting. Other than that, highly recommend.

Great quiet spot for our 19’6 caravan for a couple of nights. Steve the host was amazing and made us feel right at home. One of the best stays we’ve had on our lap and will be back again here next time we are around. This spot is a perfect central location for exploring the Adelaide Hills region. Only 2 spots makes this feel really private too.

Where to go

Barossa Valley

Patchwork vineyards, charming stone villages, and scenic walking and biking trails stretch north of Sandy Creek in the Barossa Valley wine region. The main towns of Tanunda, Angaston, and Nuriootpa are popular with campers and day-trippers, but the real highlight is a wine-tasting tour, hopping between family-run vineyards and cellar-door wineries, and sampling the region’s world-famous shiraz.

Adelaide Hills

South of Sandy Creek, the sloping vineyards and storybook villages of the Adelaide Hills are just a short drive away. Renowned for its Pinot Noir and sparkling wines, this is another one of South Australia’s famed wine regions, but you can equally enjoy cycling along miles of biking trails, visit the German-inspired village of Hahndorf, or pick your own seasonal fruits at the local orchards.

Adelaide Plains

Beach lovers will want to head further afield to explore the Yorke Peninsula to the north or the Fleurieu Peninsula, but the wild coastline of the Adelaide Plains is a must for birding enthusiasts. Stretching along the St Vincent Gulf, the fertile plains and wetlands around Thompson Beach and Webb Beach make up the Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary National Park, a key site along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway.

When to go

The wineries of the Barossa Valley pull in big crowds during the summer months (December through February), but most stay open for tastings year-round. Sandy Creek is particularly charming in spring, when wildflowers brighten up the surrounding farmlands, and in autumn, when fall foliage transforms the landscapes.
