The Scrub Campsite located in remnant vegetation (14 minutes from Victor Harbor ) is a rustic self check in campsite as the owners do not reside near the campsite.
Campers choose their site in the designated camp spots. Sites are not allocated unless by prior arrangement.
Persons under 18, youth groups, school groups or scout groups etc. are not permitted to book at the campsite.
A communal camp kitchen, water tanks and compost toilet is available for campers use. Fire pits are located at each site. Campers will be advised of fire bans.
Wood can be purchased from the self service white ibc container for $15 for 20kgs.
Please adhere to the camp rules which are posted at each campsite.
The campsite is located on the Heysen Trail and close to many Lower Fleurieu Peninsula beaches and attractions. The popular Belicious Cafe is a 45 minute walk.
Whole campsite bookings can be made by contacting the owners.
We ask that campers respect all other campers, the land that they are camping on and follow the campers motto - Leave nothing but your footprints.

Gum Park is a working Cattle Property where our family lives and works full time. We also have a butchery on farm where we process our own beef and pork for sale at local farmer's markets.
Gum Park is a certified organic farm, so no chemicals are sprayed on our pastures or anywhere within our property. Our property is at the top of the watershed, so we don't get run off from other properties nearby.
We are situated 14 km from the centre of Victor Harbor on the top of Cut Hill.

We have two different locations available in Kangaroo Island with some options of sites in each.
FIRST LOCATION:
EMU BAY HIDEAWAY-30 hectares of peace, mainly vegetated with Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaved Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia, a nationally-protected ecological community). Kangaroos and wallabies are in abundance. It has a wonderful feeling of remoteness and seclusion yet is so close to iconic Emu Bay.
Those with 4WD may choose sites overlooking Shoal Bay towards Kingscote.
Alternatively, you may set up camp anywhere on the property. There is even one under-cover position with a concrete floor for those concerned about the weather.
There are no amenities so guests need to be 100% self-sufficient (including BYO drinking water and toilet) and leave no trace. It is a wild block and only five minutes from the iconic Emu Bay, where the white sandy beach runs for 4kms, most of which is backed by 10 to 20-meter-high dunes. It is one of the best beaches on the island with crystal-clear water.
SECOND LOCATION:
Farm Stay about 15 km from Emu Bay and 20km from the main town of Kingscote. This is an operating small sheep farm of over 100ha. For security reasons the exact location is not advertised, but will be disclosed upon arrival on Kangaroo Island.
There are several beautiful sites. This location is fairly central to most KI visitor attractions. It is a secure place to set up camp and have peace of mind that your belongings will be safe while you are away from the site. The host takes care to situate sites to give campers the feeling of exclusiveness.
NOTES;
Check with me before lighting a campfire - this depends on the season and risk. Dogs are permitted if well controlled (register visiting dogs with local council).

We have 43 beautiful acres half way between Goolwa and Strathalbyn. We are located walking distance from lake alexandrina, we’re there are plenty of activities to do such as fishing, boating, and more. There is abundance of wildlife with our resident mob of kangaroos stoping by daily it’s a bird watchers paradise.
This site is a 4 minute walk from the main house and is completely private. The property has its own private road so plenty of room for kids to ride their bikes, we have horses and cows that guests are welcome to feed over the fence. Dogs are welcome lots of room for them to run around, we also have paddle boards for hire.
The town of milang has its own mini mart and cafe and on weekends the train museum is open for viewing.

With kids
Site 1 was perfect for us with kids as both the kitchen and toilets were really close by. We didnt have to lug the gas stove, tables and chairs with us as the Kitchen had all these. It has a gas flat grill plate BBQ which was great for us. The space is huge and the kids had a blast running around. It did get a bit cooler there at night time which we didn't expect so pack some warm clothes (we went 2nd weekend of Feb). There are 3 adorable dogs that visited on and off and we played "fetch" with them. Kylie was lovely - she popped in to say hi and also gave my friend duct tape to fix her pole which accidentally snapped. And she also handed my friend some fresh eggs which my friend enjoyed thoroughly 😊 All in all, a great stay and I'll be coming back soon when we can have a fire.

Had a great stay at Cooinda! Definitely recommend the fenced sites if you have pets or little ones. It was a nice change not to have to worry about my bub wandering out on to the road like most campgrounds. The view was also amazing and facilities were clean. We did have a lot of wasps swarm in while cooking in the evening, that’s nature! But I’d definitely check in on that first if you have allergies. I also wish I realised that groups also use the property. While our site was away from the groups they were quite noisy. The school camps were having a great time in the mornings and evenings which was fine but the footy club blasting music past 10.30pm was a little unexpected. No one’s fault, I just didn’t realise they would be there and it was a bit tricky getting the little one to sleep lol. Overall it’s a beautiful property and we had a great time, would recommend 🙂

Amazing view , close to town facilities
Plenty of native birds to watch
This is a not for profit company and although there were groups of children present it did not effect our peaceful stay at all
I would highly recommend this site !

As a young solo female traveller I felt really safe!
Ammenities were more than amazing, really clean and comfortable!

Wonderful secluded campsite with excellent privacy between sites. Lots of bird life. We didn’t use the shower or kitchen, but the composting loo was great.
We’ll definitely be coming back to spend more time just relaxing away from the city.

Beautiful little spot if you like having your own space away from others. Everything was clean and tidy. The main road is nearby but traffic is minimal, so it stayed nice and quiet. Great base for exploring Deep Creek, Second Valley, Rapid Bay and Victor Harbor.

Classic camp spot with beautiful surroundings in the idillyc Inman Valley! Great central location between Victoria Harbor, Normanville & some of the best beaches in SA! Kylie and her daughters are gracious hosts and welcomed me with open arms! Definitely recommend for those seeking peace and quiet and a restful night under the stars! - also, don't miss brunch at Bellalisious , a roadside crepe house , just two minutes drive down the road for good coffee, ambiance and friendly staff and locals!!

Unfortunately due to hot weather we haven’t actually been able to stay at the site. However the team have been brilliant in understanding and have allowed us to rebook. We look forward to staying in April. Inman Valley is a prime spot so I’m sure we will love the site.

Absolutely great spot with phenomenal views and amazing facilities - hot showers, kitchen, fridge, toilets, etc. Super close to the main town but also further away enough so you feel close to nature. We booked site 3a which is powered as I needed access to my laptop. Would happily stay here again.

Cooinda was an amazing place to stay, awesome views, grest atmosphere. The fenced area was awesome for the children a the dog. It allowed us to relax knowing they were all safe.
The different types of camp sites or cabins to stay in offers so many options when planning our next holiday. Close to town to go shopping and outings. We are diffenantly going to book again. Close to the kids grandma for her to spend time with the kids and for us to have time with out the kids..

We had a great time camping at Cooinda Retreats! We had site 7 which was a perfect size, with lovely grass and a beautiful view.
We utilised the amenities including the camping kitchen, showers and toilets, everything was very clean and spacious!
The staff were also lovely can’t recommend more!

great range of sites available with lots of privacy between tent spots. Bookings are capped so you'll never be surrounded by other groups! Eco toilet is MUCH nicer than a traditional drop toilet - and somehow didn't smell though we were there in the peak of summer! Great spot to star gaze and escape from the city :) Victor harbour not far at all if you need to pop in to town :)
