The Scrub Campsite located in remnant vegetation (14 minutes from Victor Harbor ) is a rustic self check in campsite as the owners do not reside near the campsite. Campers choose their site in the designated camp spots. Sites are not allocated unless by prior arrangement. Persons under 18, youth groups, school groups or scout groups etc. are not permitted to book at the campsite. A communal camp kitchen, water tanks and compost toilet is available for campers use. Welcome to your dream destination!! We have two different locations available in Kangaroo Island with some options of sites in each. FIRST LOCATION: EMU BAY HIDEAWAY-30 hectares of peace, mainly vegetated with Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaved Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia, a nationally-protected ecological community). Kangaroos and wallabies are in abundance. It has a wonderful feeling of remoteness and seclusion yet is so close to iconic Emu Bay. Those with 4WD may choose sites overlooking Shoal Bay towards Kingscote. Alternatively, you may set up camp anywhere on the property. There is even one under-cover position with a concrete floor for those concerned about the weather. There are no amenities so guests need to be 100% self-sufficient (including BYO drinking water and toilet) and leave no trace. It is a wild block and only five minutes from the iconic Emu Bay, where the white sandy beach runs for 4kms, most of which is backed by 10 to 20-meter-high dunes. It is one of the best beaches on the island with crystal-clear water. SECOND LOCATION: Farm Stay about 15 km from Emu Bay and 20km from the main town of Kingscote. This is an operating small sheep farm of over 100ha. For security reasons the exact location is not advertised, but will be disclosed upon arrival on Kangaroo Island. There are several beautiful sites. This location is fairly central to most KI visitor attractions. It is a secure place to set up camp and have peace of mind that your belongings will be safe while you are away from the site. The host takes care to situate sites to give campers the feeling of exclusiveness. NOTES; Check with me before lighting a campfire - this depends on the season and risk. Dogs are permitted if well controlled (register visiting dogs with local council). Kayaking on the Myponga reservoir, or surfing, swimming and sun bathing at either Horseshoe Bay or Waitpinga. Urimbirra wildlife park is less than 10 minutes away, and around the corner is the Softfoot Alpaca Farm, with the on-site Swagman Restaurant. Also in Hindmarsh Valley is the lovely restaurant Lost Phoenix Farm. Over your stay, you will likely encounter our two dogs, Lola and Sherlock, who very much enjoy meeting our guests. Lola is particularly fond of children and loves to play fetch with them, whilst Sherlock will try charm you out of your sausages. Despite what he says, he is well fed at home. They are both good at giving high fives. If you would prefer not to see the dogs, please just let us know and we will keep them under strict supervision. An RV dump point is located on Adelaide Road, Victor Harbor, within the tourist information bay, 200m south of Waterport Road, approximately 10 minutes from the site.

Dee's Villa is a short 10-minute drive to Normanville or Yankalilla. We are close to Myponga Beach, Lady Bay, and Carrickalinga as well as the popular Normanville beach. Dogs and Ponies welcome. The Villa is independent of our home, and is on its own 5-acre plot, nothing in your view except the occasional horse, the paddocks, and the sea. We have resident kangaroos and the occasional echidna that visit plus lots of bird life. We have hosted weddings, many anniversaries, and lots of special occasions plus guests who live in Adelaide and appreciate being able to hop in the car, drive for an hour and find themselves in our little bit of heaven, a real rural retreat but only ten minutes to two small towns with supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and most everything else you might need. You have the entire Villa, which is very private, a verandah out front to enjoy the view out to sea and Kangaroo Island, and a fully enclosed courtyard in the rear to chill and enjoy the sunshine. The Villa is also wheelchair friendly, all entrances are wide, including French doors to the lounge and both bedrooms, a very large double shower with sliding doors, a raised toilet for people with issues, two toilets, and a separate vanity area. It is ideal for two couples as there are two bathroom areas, one with a vanity and toilet and the other with shower, vanity, and toilet. We are pet-friendly and have a lovely shady paddock for your pony and an enclosed yard for your dog. We do allow pets inside but ask that you let us know if you intend to bring your pets with you. There is a cleaning fee if there is dog hair over furniture and soft furnishings, please bring their bedding and don't let them on beds and sofas.

What a beautiful spot and such a lovely hosts. Our kids loved exploring and seeing lots of kangaroos. Our kids absolutely fell in love with Lola their dog who would come when the kids called her and played all day long with them such a highlight! Hosts were so accommodating and great with communication we will 100 % be back again (our kids want to come back every weekend!) Thanks again! Best off grid stay so far!

We had a dog enclosure site (site 1) which was great. Dogs were Completely safe and we Could enjoy ourselves without worrying. The grounds were well maintained with beautiful green grass . The onsite caretaker and his wife were very helpful and courteous.

Caleb the host was great with clear instructions and was very welcoming. The lake view site is the furthest from the road but you can still get some noise. Nice walks and views and extremely close to Goolwa. We’ll probably be back.

I absolutely loved my stay at Cooinda, so much so I booked again before I even packed up and left! I was on site 1 which was fantastic for my dogs as it is fully inclosed. Over the 4 nights I had a rotation of great friends come and stay and they too loved everything. Cooinda is so pretty, peaceful and spacious with great facilities. The grass is so lush and green and the view towards the ocean was lovely. Can't wait to my next trip!
