A working cattle farm with beautiful Poll Hereford cattle roaming the 160-acre block. The Marne River flows down through the block with ancient indigenous canoe trees dotted along the river which flows for approx 10 months of the year. Walk to the the top of the block for 180 degree views of Eden Valley and surrounds. Your booking will give you exclusive rights to camping, so no need to worry about noisy neighbours! Canoe Trees and the Marne River Take a stroll along the river, looking for canoe trees. First Nations people of the lower Murray River formerly made large canoes from the bark of Red Gum trees. They used canoes to transport goods and move long distances along the river system. The Marne River in southeast South Australia starts below Eden Valley at an elevation of 366m and ends at an elevation of 5.06m flowing into the River Murray. The Marne River drops around 361m over its 69.5km length. https://www.acmi.net.au/works/111350--aboriginal-canoe-trees-of-the-murray/ History of Eden Valley The land of the Ngadjuri People, Traditional Owners of the Eden Valley region. South Australia’s beautiful Eden Valley, known as the garden of grapes and gums, is one of Australia’s premier cool climate wine regions characterised by its rugged beauty and varied topography. Eden Valley was named by the surveyors of the area after they found the word "Eden" carved into a tree. The beautiful rolling hills of the region create a natural diversity in mesoclimate determined by altitude, aspect and slope, which also naturally impacts the soil type. It is therefore critical to match the correct grape variety and site. Overall, the region is characterised by cooler conditions than its famous neighbour, the Barossa Valley, and as such the final stages of ripening and harvesting take place in cooler temperatures. Eden Valley wines are distinctive in their character, displaying wonderful aromatics, elegance, complexity and finesse. Eden Valley shares a proud German heritage with it's neighbour the Barossa Valley, collectively known as the Barossa region. English and German immigrants settled here in the early to mid-19th century, establishing the township in the 1860s. With a wine-making history dating back to 1847, Eden Valley is home to some of the world’s oldest Shiraz and Riesling vineyards. We are a family of 5 with 3 children who love to explore and learn about the history of the places we visit. So, we hope you enjoy this little snippet! CFS Fire Ban 2024 starts NOVEMBER 15th 2024 and ends APRIL 30th 2025 no campfires between these dates. Our property is located in the rocky outcrops of the Bremer Ranges and is on the Bremer River in Rockleigh. This site was once a overnight yard for the sheep farmers who were passing through the area. We have three separate locations for campers to choose from. The Gums- surrounded by small gum trees right near the Bremer River. The Carob- this site is situated further back from the river and is surrounded by mulberry trees. Lastly we have The Sticks- this site is behind the scrubby bushed and requires tight access and is more suited to tents and swags. The decent into camp is quite narrow and steep so please drive carefully. We are 45 minute drive from the Lavender Federation Trail which is a popular walking track in the region. We are only 30 minutes drive from Monarto Conservation Park which is a popular spot for walking trails and picnics. Monarto is also home to a Safari Park which is the largest Safari Park in Australia and home to lots of interesting animals. We have 2 toilets available but please BYO toilet paper. Sorry, no pets. Please note that Pymbroke is in the Murraylands zone & fire danger season starts early. 1st November 2025.

Surrounded by the Hindmarsh Valley National Park and a working sheep farm, you’ll be sharing this campsite with the local kangaroos, and if you’re lucky, an echidna or two. There’s a creek running through, and vibrant bird life. Nearby is a beautiful bush-walk through the Mount Billy Conservation Park. Kayaking on the Myponga reservoir, or surfing, swimming and sun bathing at either Horseshoe Bay or Waitpinga. Urimbirra wildlife park is less than 10 minutes away, and around the corner is the Softfoot Alpaca Farm, with the on-site Swagman Restaurant. Also in Hindmarsh Valley is the lovely restaurant Lost Phoenix Farm. Over your stay, you will likely encounter our two dogs, Lola and Sherlock, who very much enjoy meeting our guests. Lola is particularly fond of children and loves to play fetch with them, whilst Sherlock will try charm you out of your sausages. Despite what he says, he is well fed at home. They are both good at giving high fives. If you would prefer not to see the dogs, please just let us know and we will keep them under strict supervision. An RV dump point is located on Adelaide Road, Victor Harbor, within the tourist information bay, 200m south of Waterport Road, approximately 10 minutes from the site.
