We are pet-friendly, so if your dog is well-behaved you are welcome. The space The Homestead consists of 2 separate units under one roof as we wanted to cater for large families or befriended families traveling together as well as individual people. We called unit 1 on the eastern side "Hammer's Cove" after a volunteer who helped us build for 7 months and called himself " The Hammer". Unit 2 on the western side is called Western River Cove after our favorite local beach. Each unit consists of a fully equipped kitchen for all your cooking needs, a fully operational laundry including a washing machine, dryer, and ironing options and several spacious living and dining areas. Each unit has 2 bedrooms with comfortable queen beds and French doors leading to the wide verandahs with a view of the countryside. Unit 2 is fully wheelchair accessible, the bathroom is open plan without barriers, and rails are installed. The bathroom in Unit 1 has a spacious shower alcove with modern amenities. The dining rooms are incorporated in the large kitchens, the living areas have extendable 2 1/2 seater lounges to cater to additional people as well as smart TVs and bookcases with games and books for all ages. The exceptionally wide verandahs surround the entire Homestead and provide 2 separate outdoor settings, a large gas BBQ, and several smaller seating options to enjoy the view from sunrise to sunset. This is a dream for entertaining and feeling at home away from home for any travelers. The Homestead is built adjacent to the AustralianRedGumGallery which is a fully operational woodturning studio and gallery where Jonny does his magic and creates amazing functional art. The gallery also has a pool table and dart board which our guests are welcome to use with care.

We have resident kangaroos and the occasional echidna that visit plus lots of bird life. We have hosted weddings, many anniversaries, and lots of special occasions plus guests who live in Adelaide and appreciate being able to hop in the car, drive for an hour and find themselves in our little bit of heaven, a real rural retreat but only ten minutes to two small towns with supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and most everything else you might need. You have the entire Villa, which is very private, a verandah out front to enjoy the view out to sea and Kangaroo Island, and a fully enclosed courtyard in the rear to chill and enjoy the sunshine. The Villa is also wheelchair friendly, all entrances are wide, including French doors to the lounge and both bedrooms, a very large double shower with sliding doors, a raised toilet for people with issues, two toilets, and a separate vanity area. It is ideal for two couples as there are two bathroom areas, one with a vanity and toilet and the other with shower, vanity, and toilet. We are pet-friendly and have a lovely shady paddock for your pony and an enclosed yard for your dog. We do allow pets inside but ask that you let us know if you intend to bring your pets with you. There is a cleaning fee if there is dog hair over furniture and soft furnishings, please bring their bedding and don't let them on beds and sofas.

We had a dog enclosure site (site 1) which was great. Dogs were Completely safe and we Could enjoy ourselves without worrying. The grounds were well maintained with beautiful green grass . The onsite caretaker and his wife were very helpful and courteous.

I absolutely loved my stay at Cooinda, so much so I booked again before I even packed up and left! I was on site 1 which was fantastic for my dogs as it is fully inclosed. Over the 4 nights I had a rotation of great friends come and stay and they too loved everything. Cooinda is so pretty, peaceful and spacious with great facilities. The grass is so lush and green and the view towards the ocean was lovely. Can't wait to my next trip!

Weekend Trip to Cooinda Retreats - RV and Camp Stay

Cooinda is a local favourite. Lovely owner and caretakers, well maintained campsites, convenient location and beautiful views. Give me this over a busy caravan park any day. Site 3b is spacious, flat and grassy so a very easy and relaxing place to set up and enjoy.

Soft landing for our shakedown trip. Gorgeous site with beautiful views. Well appointed and very clean facilities for those who may need them and the camp kitchen was exceptional. Beautifully and lovingly maintained with very helpful caretakers. Very close to all the facilities of SA's popular south coast but far enough away to be peaceful and calm. Dog loved it. We loved it. Will be back.

The grounds are immaculate. Well cared for and inviting. The facilities are great. Very clean showers and toilets and a really good functional camp kitchen with lots of outdoor seating. Highly recommend this park.

It was a place so quite! The bathroom was so clean, also DW the kitchen well equipped! Beautiful views of the sea! And the place was so organized! Also we enjoyed with our small dog because is pet friendly!

Camped a night here with my boys and we loved it. A beautiful view from our site and very peaceful. We rode our bikes down to the beach. Would definitely visit again.

Great site with Beautiful views of the ocean. Site is clean. Toilets and showers are clean. We didn't use the kitchen but nice to see the appliances available to use. Need to improve the communication. No one available in the office . Left a message day before check-in. No response, still waiting.
