We are a Poll Merino sheep stud and a wheat/barley cropping farm at Emu Downs in the Mid North of SA. We have resurrected this character old workers quarters which we've turned into a rustic, peaceful abode for you to enjoy.
Sleeps four (double bed, single bed and old miners couch,). Bring your own bedding. There is a flushing external toilet and a bush shower (ie: a shower bag, provided).
The room with the open fire can be utilised as a kitchen/living area. We've provided crockery, cutlery, glasses, kettles and a camp oven. There is running cold rainwater into the sink. Cooking can be done on the open fire, or use the small camp gas cookers. There is also a gas BBQ in the outdoor room. If you are really brave, try your hand at camp oven cooking in the campfire. There is no power, only lighting provided from a small solar panel/battery.
Extra guests welcome in tents, swags or vans adjacent to the cottage. To ensure only one group of campers at a time, THE COTTAGE HAS TO BE BOOKED FIRST, then book the extra campers through the additional campsites listing.
Eckert's Old Place is within an easy drive to the Clare Valley wine regions and historic Robertstown, Burra and Eudunda.
Campfires welcome when not in fireban season. You can order a wheelbarrow load for $30, or bring your own. Dogs are permitted, but please understand, we are a sheep stud and need to ensure no disturbance from dogs. Please advise if you intend to bring your dog.

Seven Sisters is perched on the Skilly Hills, the western side of the Clare Valley. Overlooking the Blyth Plains above Kybunga, the views are nothing short of stunning. Nearly every evening brings fabulous sunsets. Ideal for family stays or just a quiet spot to chill out.
Bush walking in the Spring Gully National Park is just down the road and within 2klms is the Armagh to Spring Gully trail.
Our neighbours include the fabulous Eldridge Wines, one of Clare Valleys best. Close by are many more fabulous wineries and one of the best Gin Distillers (in our opinion) in the Mid North, Sawmill Gin. The local taxi service is very accommodating and happy to come out to Seven Sisters. I believe they will also ferry you to wineries in the area.
Seven Sisters is a hilly grassland with wooded areas, creeks and rocky outcrops to explore. Anywhere within our boundary fence is there for you to explore.
Our sites on the property are easily accessed. 2 sites on our farm road with a 4th site set at the back of the property which is very secluded. All sites have seasonal fire pits.
Please don’t enter the fenced area around the house or go outside our boundary. Ideal for families or just a quiet stay.

We both had the best weekend. The wine tasting experience was fantastic. Not often you enjoy every wine in a tasting. The hosts were amazing, down to earth and extremely helpful. Their property is 10 minutes from our house, but felt like a world away. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family and friends. Thanks again Steve and Allison.

What a great spot. We spent 4 nights at Vineyard Views and loved it. Thoroughly enjoyed Michael's wine tasting (highly recommend)! The location is peaceful and rural surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, yet close to amenities. Plenty of space for larger vans. Both Michael and Kim were very welcoming and accommodating hosts. A+++

We did the wine tasting with Michael and it was probable the best we’ve done and we’ve visited many wineries. It was personal, informative and friendly.
If you’re passing through Mclaren Vale make this a stop for the night and enjoy some delicious wines.

It's a gorgeous property camping by the vineyard and Michael and Kim are excellent hosts!
Loved spending time talking wine and learning about the wine making process with Michael while getting to enjoy a tasting of the wines he makes at Six Strings!

We’ve had the most lovely three-night reset, only a couple of hours from Adelaide, and it truly feels like we’ve discovered a hidden gem.
The property is fully fenced and gated, which meant our dog Kelly could be off-leash after a full perimeter inspection (of course). She was absolutely in her element. It’s incredibly dog-friendly and completely private, set on a peaceful lagoon fed by the Murray.
Access was easy in a 2WD, although we brought our 4WD towing our OPUS camper. Our site was shaded by a majestic gum tree right on the water’s edge – the kind of spot you don’t want to leave.
The birdlife is abundant – especially at dusk and dawn. Some might call it raucous, but we loved every minute of it. It added to the magic of the place.
The lagoon was safe for swimming and paddleboarding, and there are plenty of fish to be caught straight off the jetty. The host was truly delightful – welcoming us upon arrival, helpful with insights of the lcoal area and clearly proud of what they’ve created.
We take the opportunity to visit Walker Flat and Swan Reach for a swim at the beach and a picnic under the shade, watching the ski boats and jet skis go by. Picking up some more ice and a newspaper for our GNTs.
We were fully self-contained and made sure to pick up after Kelly – it was lovely to see that most other guests clearly do the same. It makes such a difference in a place like this.
Kelly was happy. We are chuffed. We’ll absolutely be back.

Home is a bare paddock in summer but entirely fine for caravanners wanting out of a crowded pitch. 6 Strings is peaceful and close to beaches and great food and wineries. We will be back

Beautiful riverside spot in the Riverland. We camped right by the river and it was incredibly peaceful — waking up to the water and birdlife was the highlight. Plenty of space, very quiet, and felt nicely secluded without being hard to access.
Would absolutely stay again and highly recommend if you’re after a relaxed, nature-filled Riverland escape 🌿

When we (eight of us) arrived at Tipsy Hill, we stopped at the homestead, to let the host, Susan, know of our arrival. We were met with a warm and friendly welcome, after which we headed straight down to the camping grounds.
One thing I didn’t appreciate from the photos, was the size of the river lagoon - far bigger than we were expecting! Needless to say, we were glad to have brought our kayaks (though, there a few boats provided, on grounds).
However, where this spot really shines, is its ability to securely hold pets. We brought along two retrievers, and not once did we experience any issues with escapes, injuries, etc. in short, you can rest assured at Tipsy Hill, knowing your pets are free to roam off-lead - this was huge, for me. Watching them play in the water and enjoy the place to themselves was hugely rewarding.
In short, I absolutely recommend Tipsy Hill to anyone who wants a pain free, drive-in camping experience. We used to hunt up and down the river for free camping spots - with places like this available, why go hunting for spots, at all?

We camped here and it was fantastic. Great location, close to everything we needed and a great little base for day trips. Michael invited us up for a wine tasting - and I wish we had have gone every day. It was really interesting to hear how they built their little winery - and safe to say we walked away with a couple of bottles each! Thanks Michael and Kim, you are superb hosts, what a super little patch of the earth you have. Thanks for sharing it with us.

It was great being able to have a base camp for our last leg of exploring SA.
The hosts were great. Offering a wine tasting also (sadly we don’t drink but the vines looked top notch).

A great private spot on the river ! We loved having a fully fenced spot so our two dogs could enjoy the area stress free. With a lovely little river bank and jetty to fish from, lots of carp were caught whilst we enjoyed all the birds and wildlife :)
