Camp Toondilla was a great base from which to explore Adelaide. Steven was really friendly and helpful, and so were the wallabies! Nice flat grassy spot and our kids enjoyed the play equipment.

Lovely grounds. Great staff. Large caravan sites. Bathrooms very clean, with little extras like atomisers, mirrors and plants. Evan full of knowledge of the towns, where to eat etc. Only one night but would come again. Felt very comfortable

Unfortunately we didn't end up camping, we had to cancel. However, I let Steve the host know, which was late evening the night before and he had no problems with refunding my payment (minus the service fees). This indicates a genuine good feel and as soon as we get another chance I wont hesitate to rebook.

Great spot with easy accessibility to the McLaren vale wine region. Very private spot with only two sites and super safe. Steve the owner is very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Weekend Trip to Alma's Hem Amphitheatre and Retreat

Beautiful place to stay - we had amazing views out over rolling hills with forest behind us. We were lucky to have the place to ourselves, but the sites are spaced well apart so it wouldn’t have mattered if there were others. Kylie was lovely and we even got to spend some time with the doggos!

The host had the fire going for us when we got there and was very welcoming. We were greeted by the resident mum and Joey kangaroo. And the possums kept us entertained in the evening. Camp site was level and grassy. Award winning bench seat!

This stay was quiet, out if town but close enough to see all the sites around Adelaide, Goolwa the mouth of the Murray river out to sea.

Very quiet and peaceful spot. We had the place to ourselves most of the time as camp 2 wasn't used much. Nice walk to the bakery and op shop (thanks for the heads up Steve) and a walk back up the hill to walk it off. Very pleasant couple of days.

We found Toondilla 1 or 2 very private, secure sites, close to the town. Parked peacefully amongst gumtrees with abundance of bird life. Initially I was cautious about taking a 6 meter van down a tight entrance however we did not have a problem. Very friendly and helpful owner Thank you , highly recommend .

Very convenient, easy to find. Quite level enough for our camper. It suited our needs perfectly, easy access to both Adelaide and Cape Jervis ferry.

2 nights at Alma's Hem Amphitheatre and Retreat

Firstly, Kylie was a wonderful host and her 3 dogs were super friendly and polite. We felt very welcomed. Each site was very spacious and set apart from other camping sites in the area. My son and I had more than ample space to play cricket, soccer, frisbee, etc. The surrounding landscape was absolutely stunning and picturesque. At night, it was pitch black and quiet (except for the occasional mooing of cows), perfect for stargazing and switching off. There were plenty of kangaroos that passed through and grazed nearby too. We were at Site 2 and the toilets were conveniently close (about a few minutes walk). The toilets were clean and well maintained. Nearby the toilets are taps that provide rainwater, which we also found to be very handy. Location wise, it's close by Victor Harbor if you need to pop in for supplies and a proper meal. We also had brunch at a nearby (only 5 min drive) cafe called Belicious on the morning we left. They served Belgian waffles as their specialty, which we found to be deliciously comforting after a few days of camping. Overall, my family had such an amazing time together at Alma's Hem. We would not hesitate to go back again, and thoroughly recommend this site to other campers looking for an easy, relaxing and memorable stay.

This find is honestly a hidden gem. The view and the atmosphere were amazing. We saw so much wildlife, as well as spent time with the owners dogs. It was a wholesome experience, and I’ll definitely be back!

We loved our stay at Toondilla. The site was easily accessed in our old caravan and we were delighted by the peaceful and spacious clearing we had access to. Steve is a wonderful host and it was fantastic to be greeted by him and his girls on our arrival. The land is surrounded by beautiful greenery and we were lucky enough to be visited by kangaroos and possums during our stay. The perfect location for a getaway with the family.

Great pet friendly stop over on our way home to Melbourne. Clean, comfy and with great views over the river and nice walking track onto the private grassy island for us and the dogs to explore.

Family hobby farm on six green acres in the historical town of Clarendon (Toondilla), just half an hour south of Adelaide. Set in a gully with a winter creek (Willow Creek) running through (dry in warmer months). Conveniently located within walking distance to the main street of Clarendon - five minutes to the Bakery and 10 minutes to the Royal Oak Hotel and General Store! The property offers the best views of Clarendon via a short walk to the top paddock. There is a limit of 2 private, protected campsites near the creek, each well-maintained and level, with scattered gum trees that provide lovely shade in the morning and afternoon. Camp Toondilla is set up for self-contained campers who bring their own camp toilet and take all waste with them when they go. Well-behaved pets are welcome. Plenty of options in the area to keep the outdoor enthusiast busy, including: nearby wineries (some dog friendly), beaches (Moana and Aldinga/Silver Sands can be driven on), reservoirs (Mt Bold - hiking and views) and (Happy Valley - hiking, running, kayaking, fishing), Onkaparinga National Park and Scott Creek Conservation Park, ForestrySA land (including TreeClimb, Bone Gully MTB and parkrun on Saturdays at The Avenues - Kuitpo (Your host is the Event Director). Bakery, General Store, Clarendon Bowling Club, Riverbend Reserve, Op-shop and Emprades (antiques shop) and Royal Oak Hotel all in the mainstreet of town. Along with historical buildings, you can relax in the local town or venture further.

Less than 1km from the the Heysen trail, giving you easy access to hikes. 15 minute drive from Victor Harbor for all your shopping conveniences. 20 mins to the stunning Carrackalinga beaches; Kayaking the Second Valley caves and beautiful drives to waterfalls, conservation parks and tourist attractions. Campsites are located on level grassy area. Flushing toilets, fire pit and firewood available. Perfect for a romantic getaway or for small and larger groups. Please note that our property has work dogs who live nearby and love to visit guests. When you arrive there is a map located on the right hand side of the driveway entrance with the sites marked. You are welcome to find your site get comfortable. We will welcome you at some stage! Please contact us if you'd like to book for more guests than listed and we will do our best to accommodate. Campground has shared facilities and respect of each other and the land is critical. We are a leave no trace site, which means everything you bring in you must take with you, which includes rubbish and broken things. The bins at the entrance are for residents only and as they are only collected fortnightly cannot cater for more than those who live here. Firewood can be brought in by you or we will provide wood for $30/night per site. Wood is not to be foraged from adjoining scrub as it is Heritage listed and to be left for habitat, ecosystem and your admiration only! We look forward to crossing paths!
