If you require power, please visit our website for your booking. Check your inbox for your pre-arrival email, which will contain details for your self check-in. Keen for a budget-friendly alternative to traditional van parks? Welcome to Highleigh Farm – a relaxed, family and pet friendly campground tucked at the base of the stunning Walsh’s Pyramid. Once just a cane paddock, this beaut patch has been lovingly brought to life with over 700 native trees planted, it’s now a little bush oasis – full of native birds, bush tucker, and good vibes. Just a cruisy 20-minute drive from the Cairns CBD, Highleigh Farm is the perfect launch pad to explore the region. We’ve got roomy, grassed sites (yep, we keep ’em green year-round thanks to irrigation), friendly chooks and guinea fowl strutting about the gardens, and horses always keen for a scratch and a yarn. There’s a mini pump track for the ankle-biters, a big shady communal area with a BBQ shelter, firepit, and plenty of open space for kids to run wild and your furry mates to stretch their legs. The whole joint’s securely fenced and gated, so you can kick back with peace of mind. Our big-rig-friendly sites come with individual power and water outlets, but if you’re more the off-grid type, you can book an unpowered site too. Either way, there’s plenty of space to spread out and soak in the serenity. Heads up: We don’t have toilets or showers onsite, so you’ll need to be fully self-contained. But don’t stress – the nearest dump point is just around the corner at Greenpatch Campground.

Boonjie is a great place to base yourself to visit the amazing sights in the surrounding area! Our property has beautiful native visitors, including the occasional cassowary, and regular morning choir of ground dwelling chowachillas. This campsite suits self reliant and self contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and water supply. Lamins Hill lookout, and the entrances to Windin Falls, and the famous trek up Queensland’s Highest Mountain, are only minutes away. So too, are the Atherton Tablelands‘ crater lakes, Eacham & Barrine, and the small town of Malanda, with its iconic falls, both designated swimming destinations, though, highlights are the clear creeks between there and Boonjie (means mate). This is near “Top Camp”, where First Nations people would arrive after the gruelling walk up the Russel River, from the coast, where Innisfail now stands (Innisfail can be seen from the top road). With evidence of European and Chinese gold miners, from the 1900’s, this spot is both remote AND central, for a day trip to Millaa Millaa’s extraordinary Falls circuit, Herberton’s Historical Village and the flowered and funky Yungaburra.
