Our Mongolian-style Yurt takes glamping to a whole new level! With views over the Gold Coast & Hinterland, there's plenty of space for two people to unplug and enjoy nature. Plus it's the perfect location for day trips to Hinze Dam, Natural Arch, Binna Burra, and O’Reilly's, and leisurely drives along the Scenic Rim. The Yurt is built in the traditional style of the Kazakh and Mongolian people, but finished with modern luxury touches. It sits looking out towards the Gold Coast skyline at the top of our property which is at the end of a no through road. It’s quiet and peaceful, the birdlife is spectacular, the sunsets and sunrises are gorgeous and the view of the stars in the night sky from the deck is stunning. Guests have their own bathroom with shower, a kitchenette to prep meals and a BBQ for outdoor cooking. They may use the Yurt and the deck it sits on as well as the surrounding paddock. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the garden, check out the bee hives and enjoy the firepit just in front of the yurt. If guests would like to explore more of the property, there is a little meditation deck for quiet contemplation at the entrance to the rainforest. If guests would like to hike further down, please ask us as it can be a little steep for inexperienced hikers.

The best yurts near Beaudesert guide

Where to go

Around Wyaralong Dam

Just west of Beaudesert, the verdant shores of Lake Wyaralong have more than 40 kilometers of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails to explore. Take in the views from Mt Joyce, picnic by the lakeside, then pitch your tent at a waterfront camping ground. In the summer, water sports, including kayaking and canoeing, are popular along the lake.

Gold Coast Hinterlands

East of Beaudesert, Tamborine Mountain is the star of the Gold Coast hinterlands, where you can hike to waterfalls, spot wildlife along the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, or enjoy wine tasting at a boutique winery. Another must-visit destination is the Springbrook National Park. Enjoy bushwalking and camping in the Numinbah Valley, then discover the glowworm caves of the Natural Bridge.

South Scenic Rim

The southern section of the Scenic Rim region is home to some of its wildest landscapes. Head into the Lamington National Park to hike through UNESCO-listed rainforest, discover hidden waterfalls, and sleep at remote bush camps. To the west, Mount Barney National Park has summit climbs to challenge the most experienced hikers and backcountry campsites in the heart of the bush.

When to go

The hinterlands are a year-round destination, but the best weather for outdoor activities is from late autumn to early spring (April through September). Markets and events are held on weekends throughout the year, and this is the liveliest time to visit. Summer (December through February) campers should prepare for hot weather—daytime temperatures can reach over 30°C—and frequent downpours.

Know before you go

  • Buses connect Beaudesert to Brisbane and the Gold Coast, but having your own transport is useful for exploring the hinterlands and national parks.
  • Beaudesert has a selection of shops and restaurants, but for specialist camping gear, it’s best to head to Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
  • Fire bans are common in Queensland during summer and dry periods, so check local recommendations before lighting a fire.
  • Camping permits are required to camp within Queensland’s national parks and must be reserved in advance.
