Weekend Trip to Hidden Corner Magnetic Island

Steve was accommodating to a very late booking and helped us settle in as the sun went down, which was a lifesaver. Nice quiet place and his dogs are very friendly

We had an excellent stay, very relaxed. A beautiful view of the mountains on one side and a gorgeous lake in the middle that you can walk around. Wayne & Cathy were great, even delivered us chopped wood right to our van. Lots of wildlife. Highly recommend.

A great location, with ample space in a wide range of powered sites. If you were after a nonpowered site then your choice was fantastic. From sites close to the lake, out in the open ,or under the many mature trees scattered around the property. The toilet block was well maintained and there was plenty of hot water. If you were on the road and looking for a stay around Townsville I don't think you'd could do better.

I really enjoyed staying there for the weekend. The view was nice to look at in the morning and plus it was a nice quiet place to sit back and relax with good friends. The lake needs some solar air raiders due to the fact the water had a funny smell. The lake needs to be stripped of Lilly pads close to the campground. We will be back again.

We had a group of vans on unpowered and powered site close by and all were happy with the condition of the grounds. Showers and toilet were clean and tidy. Plenty of fire wood supplied to purchase . Kids had a ball kicking the footy, paddle boarding and riding the bikes. The care taker dilon and his wife were very approachable people and happy to help in any way. The lake had plenty of water in it but a tad taken over by nature with lilly pads and weeds . But still plenty of clear water to have some fun. The kids asked if we could come back before we reached the highway.

Caretakers were wonderful and welcoming. Such a peaceful spot- we were lucky enough to get a spot under a massive tree. Hot showers and cheap firewood- couldn’t fault it.

What a lovely spot. We really enjoyed our time at this spot. We stayed at site 1 and it was in good clean condition upon arrival. Fireplace was good too with the gate right next to camp to access the river. Thank you for having us and we'll be back for sure!

Loved it. The location was perfect—easy to get to, close enough to town for convenience, but far enough away to fully enjoy the peace, wildlife, and natural beauty. A great balance of accessibility and serenity.

We love this camp ground camp kitchen and bathroom facilities are well kept , grounds are spacious and view is spectacular. I love walking around the lake and the proximity to Townsville is good

Took our Ford and rooftop tent and used this place as a rest area. Camp was beautiful and quiet. Fellow neighbours and care takers were lovely. Lots of room to have privacy. Bathrooms clean we parked right near the water so I would recommend to bring your mozzie spray. Great bird watching aswell saw lots of kingfisher birds swooping around for there dinner.

We thoroughly enjoyed our camping experience at Mount Surround. We camped right on the dam edge and even went for a kayak in the large dam. The bird life was incredible to watch. The amenities were older but kept clean. Cathy was very warm, friendly and helpful with information about the area. A very easy day trip to Townsville. Only downside were the bugs on sunset, so make sure to take bug spray. Thank you for a lovely place to stay.

We've stayed here a few times before & are always happy with our stay at this dog friendly, Mount Surrounds hipcamp. Beautiful scenery with plenty of wildlife to see - Wallabies, Kangaroos, Lizards & lots of bird life. Lots of camping spots on the spacious open grounds or lakeside to choose from. Well manicured grounds with plenty of room to spread out & enjoy the relaxing space. Clean amenities block, laundry & camp kitchen available. We always feel welcomed during our stay & leave feeling relaxed & already planning our next visit out here. Thanks Cathy & Wayne.

Formerly known as "Mountain View Lake holiday park" . Relax in this peaceful, family friendly campground, nestled in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and nearby Mount Elliot. Enjoy the 70 Acres of shady grounds with plenty of wildlife, including pretty faced wallabies and abundant birdlife. The 20-acre dam is full of fresh water from all the rain but is still weedy and muddy on the banks. Great for kayaking or SUP. On arrival simply pick a spot you like and set up camp. We do have internet reception. Occasionally reception can be weak depending on what the network is doing. Generally, it is not a problem. Bring Mosquito/sandfly spray especially if camping by the lake. Settle down of an evening sit back and enjoy the spectacular starry night sky. Campfires allowed. Fire rings are available scattered about the site, just roll one to your camp site. Wood for sale, $10 cash per milk crate, from camp kitchen. Please be honest and place cash in the 'honesty box'. Thankyou. Located conveniently 45 km South from Townsville and Magnetic Island ferry terminal, 45km north of Ayr, 8km north of Giru. Pet friendly. All dogs must be on a lead and under owners' control at all times. Dog poo must be picked up. No one wants to step in your dog's poo. Powered and unpowered sites available. Separate men and women's toilets and hot showers. Camp kitchen with shared fridges, gas rings x2, large gas BBQ, toaster, kettle, microwave and picnic tables.
