Step out of the city and onto this working produce farm. Accommodation is rustic and basic as opposed to four star but the air is fresh and the stars are a work of art. Come and enjoy the tranquillity. As a way of introduction, some basic housekeeping information about our cabin …. Firstly this is a working farm, so accommodation is rustic and basic as opposed to four star. Our bathroom facilities are an outside shower and composting toilet about a 20m walk from the cabin but the bonus is we have just had instant hot water installed and the shower is steaming hot. There is a hand basin outside the cabin with cold running water for drinking and washing. We will always leave a torch in the cabin for your use, for those late night adventures! For your convenience there is a refrigerator, microwave, kettle, drinkware, cutlery and plates. Linen and towels are provided and the fridge will be stocked with milk and cold water. There is no hot and cold running water inside the cabin however as I mentioned the hand basin outside will provide cold water for hand washing, teeth cleaning etc. Animals roam free on the property and the cabin overlooks our dam where the ducks and geese take their families to swim. As I mentioned earlier, this is a working farm and business and we do have a dam in close proximity to the cabin; this is NOT fully fenced, so please be aware that is it your sole responsibility to supervise your children at all times – animals are also freely wandering the grounds in the way of chooks, alpacas, sheep, goats, geese and dogs (we have 8 rescue dogs of all shapes and sizes), so please be aware that free range is just that, again supervision will be required. Adequate footwear for children would be an advantage as the walking tracks can be rutted after bad weather and working farm means dirt and animal poop (just to add to the fun) so obviously safety is the best prevention. We'd love to show you our little part of the world and welcome you to our home. We welcome lots of interaction with the animals and there is a big open fire that you can sit around and toast marshmallows and chat or a smaller one outside the cabin to take in the fresh air and the canvas of stars. We didn’t end up getting to stay at the cabin as we couldn’t get into the drive way. Would definitely recommend taking a four wheel drive if you are going after rain. Annabelle was lovely and did everything she could to help but it just didn’t work out. So would definitely recommend Annabelle as she was friendly, kind and helpful.

The perfect hideaway!! We had a lovely weekend and saw so much wildlife. It was so nice to dip our feet in the stream on a warm sunny day. And the shower was luxury when it was chilly in the evening! The cabin was so cosy and comfy. Would definitely recommend, and hope to come back one day. Next time will have to bring binoculars to watch the birds. Thank you Annabelle and Drew.

We absolutely loved our weekend away to the cabin! It was extremely cold, but the fire pit and the indoor fireplace definitely helped. It’s a lovely location, beautiful night sky, and you feel completely isolated. We had a few issues with our car and the hosts were extremely helpful, Even coming to tow us out of trouble! Very friendly people and extremely helpful. I recommend this stay to anyone looking for a little escape, Just be prepared to collect a lot of firewood if you come during winter 😁

The Hideaway is absolutely beautiful and Annabelle is so lovely and helpful. The cabin is warm and cosy and you have absolutely everything you need to have an unplugged trip. Oberon is a 15 minute drive away and a wonderful town to visit with plenty of quality local businesses to support. We'll definitely be back!

Such a charming rustic log cabin in one of my favourite areas in the region. Absolute heaven! An abundance of wildlife like kangaroos, deer, black cockatoos, galahs and others. Do as little or as much as possible.

Weekend Trip to Madisons Mountain Retreat
Location is excellent, just off the bells line of road so is easy to find and well sign posted. The lady running the show is friendly, professional and very good with kids around the animals which was a plus. The alpacas and goat feeding really is great fun for the whole family in the morning.

My friends and I loved camping at The Hideaway with its beautiful surroundings. The amenities and the cabin were great, especially the shower with the awesome view! Annabelle and her family were lovely, friendly and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again!!
