The ultimate Farm Solitude Camping experience for nature lovers seeking adventure, peace and serenity. This is not a place for parties and loud noise, but if you want to get away from it all and relax in a secluded Campsite surrounded by beautiful Native Bushland or explore miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the exquisite Bow River, take some time to camp at Hillside, which is a remote 2000 acre working cattle property situated 23km west of MERRIWA, 17 km off the Golden Highway, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park. Most sites are in secluded area's far away from each other but at busy times people may pass by some sites to access the river. There are plenty of walking trails and for the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7km down to the Goulburn River through the National Park with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs of caves. All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available on request $20 lots, cash only. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. Some sites can be accessed by 2WD. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD (Low Range) access ONLY as it is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. For all 4WD areas please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Outback 4WD tracks are now open for campers to explore as well as Hidden Valley. All sites have toilets, but guests will need their own shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Phone Service is very limited in this area. If you email a request, sometimes it may take a few hours for us to reply. No motorbikes or chainsaws and no hunting allowed. WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Children must be supervised at all times while exploring these areas. There are also dams at or near some of the campsite areas that could be dangerous if children wander off exploring alone.

There is also bush walking. There is a small common area/ shed available with a bbq for guests to use and a table. If exploring please do not go through any fences as you may end up on a neighbors property. Guests may camp as close or far away from the main dam as they like, camp sites are first in first served. Pets allowed if kept under control, firewood is permitted to be used from the ground only no felling of standing trees, you may have a fire on the ground. NO fires during a total fireban. Please find your own way to camp by following your map that will be sent to you on booking and the signs that are posted from the driveway on after you turn in the main entrance, no need to meet and greet with host although I may come around occasionally to see if everything is going alright.

There are also kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas who roam the area. A perfect place to just unwind and take in the fresh country air and beautiful views. Stroll around the property and visit the old barn and some of the sheds and farming equipment that are scattered among the paddocks. In the early 1970’s Mr James, the owner of 'Biara', subdivided three 25 acre blocks across the road from the original homestead. The first block was sold to his nephew, the middle block was to be purchased by the Preston family and ‘The Gateway’ was purchased by a Mr Carveth. Unfortunately, the sale of the middle block fell through then, due to family illness, 'Biara' was sold and the family moved to Blackheath. After this move, and as thank you to his son, Mr James transferred the title of the middle of the three subdivided blocks to his only son, William. Back in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s, the area was vastly different than it is today. Travelling to school entailed a car trip to Hargraves then bus to Mudgee which would have been a 2 hour round trip! The area was far more isolated as there was no power and entailed an overland phone line, which had to be regularly repaired if residents wanted to be able to communicate with the outside world. The site allows mainly for camping and relaxing although there are numerous dirt roads to explore, Mudgee wineries close by and Burrendong Dam not far away (accessible via Hill End Road near Erudgere). Hargraves is also known for it's alluvial gold deposits and fossickers still go there regularly to check out Louisa Creek. There is 15km's of dirt road which needs to be traveled to reach the property. Dependent on weather, and if it has been graded recently, this road can be in varying states of repair. In heavy rain it may be difficult to get 2WD access via the public road due to the clay content in the road . Kangaroo, wallaby, owl species, kookaburra, echidna, snakes, various lizards, including shinglebacks, are often seen on these roads and the property.

We run a sheep farm on our property located north east of Dubbo. This is the land of big sky country. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular here along with starry nights, beside the campfire especially when the full moon arrives. It is nothing short of amazing as you marvel at the sights from the verandah of The Tiny Home or from your campsite. Not far from our property you’ll find the Goonoo CCA Zone 1 National Park. CCA Zone parks are Community Conservation Areas reserved as national parks. The greater Dubbo region offers many activities for tourists, adventure seekers and nature lovers. The Tiny House is fully self-contained with a fold out double bed and a little kitchenette featuring a fridge, microwave, cookware and utensils and a BBQ. The bathroom/laundry are separate. You're welcome to go for a swim in the dam which is a short walk away, or take a stroll to the top of the rocky hill to see 360 degree views. This is not a place for parties and loud noise, but if you want to get away from it all and relax in a secluded Campsite surrounded by beautiful Native Bushland or explore miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the exquisite Bow River, take some time to camp at Hillside, which is a remote 2000 acre working cattle property situated 23km west of MERRIWA, 17 km off the Golden Highway, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park. Most sites are in secluded area's far away from each other but at busy times people may pass by some sites to access the river. There are plenty of walking trails and for the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7km down to the Goulburn River through the National Park with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs of caves. All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available on request $20 lots, cash only. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. Some sites can be accessed by 2WD. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD (Low Range) access ONLY as it is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. For all 4WD areas please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Outback 4WD tracks are now open for campers to explore as well as Hidden Valley. All sites have toilets, but guests will need their own shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Phone Service is very limited in this area. If you email a request, sometimes it may take a few hours for us to reply. No motorbikes or chainsaws and no hunting allowed. WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Children must be supervised at all times while exploring these areas. There are also dams at or near some of the campsite areas that could be dangerous if children wander off exploring alone.

If exploring please do not go through any fences as you may end up on a neighbors property. Guests may camp as close or far away from the main dam as they like, camp sites are first in first served. Pets allowed if kept under control, firewood is permitted to be used from the ground only no felling of standing trees, you may have a fire on the ground. NO fires during a total fireban. In the early 1970’s Mr James, the owner of 'Biara', subdivided three 25 acre blocks across the road from the original homestead. The first block was sold to his nephew, the middle block was to be purchased by the Preston family and ‘The Gateway’ was purchased by a Mr Carveth. Unfortunately, the sale of the middle block fell through then, due to family illness, 'Biara' was sold and the family moved to Blackheath. After this move, and as thank you to his son, Mr James transferred the title of the middle of the three subdivided blocks to his only son, William. Back in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s, the area was vastly different than it is today. Travelling to school entailed a car trip to Hargraves then bus to Mudgee which would have been a 2 hour round trip! The area was far more isolated as there was no power and entailed an overland phone line, which had to be regularly repaired if residents wanted to be able to communicate with the outside world. The site allows mainly for camping and relaxing although there are numerous dirt roads to explore, Mudgee wineries close by and Burrendong Dam not far away (accessible via Hill End Road near Erudgere). Hargraves is also known for it's alluvial gold deposits and fossickers still go there regularly to check out Louisa Creek. There is 15km's of dirt road which needs to be traveled to reach the property. Dependent on weather, and if it has been graded recently, this road can be in varying states of repair. In heavy rain it may be difficult to get 2WD access via the public road due to the clay content in the road . Kangaroo, wallaby, owl species, kookaburra, echidna, snakes, various lizards, including shinglebacks, are often seen on these roads and the property.

We run a sheep farm on our property located north east of Dubbo. This is the land of big sky country. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular here along with starry nights, beside the campfire especially when the full moon arrives. It is nothing short of amazing as you marvel at the sights from the verandah of The Tiny Home or from your campsite. Not far from our property you’ll find the Goonoo CCA Zone 1 National Park. CCA Zone parks are Community Conservation Areas reserved as national parks. The greater Dubbo region offers many activities for tourists, adventure seekers and nature lovers. The Tiny House is fully self-contained with a fold out double bed and a little kitchenette featuring a fridge, microwave, cookware and utensils and a BBQ. The bathroom/laundry are separate. We also offer a campsite for additional family members or friends. You're welcome to go for a swim in the dam which is a short walk away, or take a stroll to the top of the rocky hill to see 360 degree views. Meet the locals (emus) or see the sheep being shorn if your booking coincides at the same time. There is no shade tree's established as yet, which makes the night sky more visible. Pets are by special request only.

Very private, safe and quiet property, just outside Dubbo town centre. Excellent spot to base yourself for a walk around town, exploring the Goal, and the zoo! Both of which are excellent. Site 1 is the biggest for large set ups, but we managed site 2 well with our NPS truck and 19’6” van. Great of you are taring with dogs.

Weekend Trip to Hillside Camp on Bow River
We had a beautiful stay at Eagles View campsite! Directions were accurate. Dave came and met us at the gate escorting us there. He is very friendly and engaging giving us good directions and advice, but then left us alone until we said our goodbyes. The property is HUGE and full of untapped wonders. We have a 4WD vehicle and made the most of our stay wondering the property in it. It was a bit hot for hiking and then a storm front came through later and overnight which was spectacular from that high vantage point. Before the worst of the storm hit early in the morning the sky was clear enough in places to see the full moon and Orion’s Belt. Magical!💚 Highly recommended. Thanks David. We will definitely be back for a more extended stay.

The whole Hillside setup is just awesome. Large private sites with toilet facilities. The campsites are well maintained and each has it's own unique characteristics. Hidden Valley is just fantastic .... it's like being in a different world. Lot's of 4WD tracks of varying difficulty to try out. Wildlife is everywhere, and the starscape is just beautiful. Wholly recommend any of the sites here. Dave our host was very helpful ensuring we had everything we needed.

David owns a stunning, expansive property set amongst the hills, filled with caves, walking tracks, and fantastic 4WDing opportunities. The tracks are meticulously formed throughout the property, making it a pleasure to explore and enjoy. David was welcoming and helpful while still giving us plenty of space to relax and unwind. Toilets at each campsite were greatly appreciated and added to the comfort of our stay. Although we weren’t able to have a campfire during our visit, it didn’t dampen the experience, especially after seeing the devastating effects of past bushfires in the area. A truly memorable place to stay.

Really spacious campsite and super clean toilet. The property is beautiful and very peaceful. David was great to deal with, easy to communicate with and incredibly helpful, especially when we were having some car trouble. We were hoping to see a wombat, and David pointed us to the best campsite for it and he was right! We were so excited to spot one. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again.

Dave has an amazing property. So many sites, each with a port-a-loo and fire pit. Total fire ban however when we visited in Jan'26. Pleanty of moderate 4WD tracks and bush walking trails, with tree markers so you cant get lost. The country was so dry during our stay that the creeks were dry and barely any water flowing in Bow River. Dave was a friendly host and informative about the area. Highly recommend. We'll likely revisit in the winter to experience the contrast.

Of course — here’s a more relaxed, friendly version: ⸻ We loved our stay at Dave’s place near Merriwa. There was so much to see and explore — we saw eagles, emus, heaps of kangaroos and wallabies during our stay. We really appreciated how far apart the campsites are, which gave our family plenty of privacy and made it feel super peaceful and secluded. Dave has also put a lot of thought into the little details, like providing port-a-loos and clean water for washing up and showering, which made camping really comfortable. Dave was a great host and took the time to show us around, share info about the property and answer all our questions. There are also signs and maps around to help you find your way easily. We’d happily come back and would definitely recommend staying here!

A pleasant stay on Graham’s property looking at the mountains. Graham took the time to greet us and gift some eggs. Graham was a gracious host who had lots of knowledge to share about Mudgee and surrounding towns. Was a nice afternoon roaming the paddocks to see the Roos, sheep etc. Thanks again Graham

Weekend Trip to Hillside Camp on Bow River
This is beautiful land, and the camps feel like you are truly in the wilderness (apart from the IBC and very handy portaloos!). It was really dry when we came, but the river still ran and even in the middle of summer it was not too hot to explore. The nights are cool and the sky is so clear, in such an open landscape we pitched our swag in the middle of the paddock and felt like we were part of the night sky. The 4WD tracks and marked trails are really great, we found some amazing sites, the caves dotted around are worth exploring.

Clear directions were provided to the property, and David met us on arrival, showed us to our site, and took the time to talk us through things to do in the area. The property is huge, with plenty of walking trails and 4WD tracks to keep you occupied. All campsites are very well spaced, giving a great sense of privacy. Sites are flat, spacious, and private, and the portaloo toilets at each site were clean and well maintained. The location is ideal — right on the doorstep of the national park and only a short drive to town if you need supplies or feel like grabbing a pie. We’ll definitely be back.

Hillside was perfect for the peace and solitude we were seeking. Dave was a terrific host and couldnt do enough for us. Great 4wd tracks, fantastic cave walks, and wombat viewing at sunset. All sites had well maintained porta loos and plenty of shade.

Our family’s first time camping and we had an amazing time. Directions were clear, and the site was clean. Simple amenities, which were also clean. We met the host, who was absolutely lovely and very welcoming. Fishing available, we recommend bringing lures. The night sky was full of more stars than we’ve ever seen in our lives. It was peaceful, quiet, and had plenty of local wildlife coming to drink from the waterhole. Highly recommend this camping site.

Great bush camping with the added bonus of a toilet. Nice to cool off with a swim in the river which the dog absolutely loved. Dave was an awesome host and was super chill. He met me at the front gate and showed me to the campground. Dave also gave me a run down of the property and stopped by later to make sure everything thing was ok. Will definitely be back with the rest of the family. Great spot!
