The Groundswell Guest Camp would love to welcome you to enjoy an exclusive camp in a tranquil native bush setting. The camp is located on 100 acres of unique grasstree forest in Taloumbi, NSW. We are just 10 minutes off the Pacific Highway, between Maclean and Brooms Head. The camp is currently set up for private use for one booking. Please contact the host first for group bookings (up to 15 persons).
There is a sink with filtered rain water on the deck, an instant gas hot water shower behind the main deck and also a compost toilet. There is a small solar power set up to run the sink and shower pump. The site in OFF-GRID on tank water only, so it is important to be mindful of water use and make sure taps are off when not in use. Bring your own cooker, lights and chairs. Mosquitos come and go depending on weather or season. It is good to be prepared with coils/sprays just in case.
Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash if they are a threat to wildlife.
You can swim in the dam when full. Enjoy a meditation or sunset drink over looking the dam and admiring the wildlife that also use the watering hole. Please relax and enjoy your time at Groundswell.
We are currently working on a network of trails inside of the 100 acres. There is a "TRAIL" sign at the start of the trail behind the orchard.
The Spa at Groundswell is now open at the owners home. Please contact the host for massage. Limited times are available.
Our nearest beaches are just 5-10 minutes at the Yuraygir National Park Campground entrance and the beautiful quiet beach town of Brooms Head. Brooms Head has a general store and a snack shack, coffee and convenient essentials. Fishing, boating, spear fishing, surfing, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, kite surfing, motor bike trails (Candole State Forest), coastal walks, and beach walks. Yamba is a 30 minutes drive and has great surfing beaches, plenty of café options, shopping, a lighthouse, breakwall walk and fishing.

Shark Creek Retreat is an ongoing conservation project, where I call myself the caretaker of these beautiful wetlands. I have dedicated 77 acres of it as a wildlife sanctuary, it is a member of the Wildlife Land Trust and has joined the Land for Wildlife environmental community. To date there is a property bird list worthy of a small National Park for all you keen birders out there. To date I have been busy regenerating previously cleared land from farming and the 2019 bush fire with native plants local to this area in the 100's.
My aim is to surround most of the property in wildlife friendly fencing, regenerate the flora and create a fauna corridor as a wildlife safety zone from the wetlands to the road and to create a tranquil little space for nature appreciative people to stop and a take a rest.
Shark Creek Retreat is a conservation area, no amenities, no bins etc. so you would need to be self sufficient and responsible for own waste. What you bring, you must take. So if camping out in a conservation area appeals to you then head out to Shark Creek Retreat, stay for a night or stay for a week 💚🌳

As night falls, drift to sleep under a canopy of stars, with the gentle sounds of the river and the peaceful company of cows nearby—a true farm-meets-nature escape.
The ACCESS road to our campsite is flat and easy to navigate, though it is unsealed. For this reason, we recommend arriving in an AWD or 4WD vehicle for a smooth and comfortable journey.
The campsite is basic, there are no facilities.
Guests will need to provide their own toilet facilities. There are free public Dump Points available in Bellingen, Urunga, Mylestom and Coffs Harbour
A mains WATER tap is available for use upon request, though it is located a short distance from the campsite.

Google maps is off wanting to send you to the other side of river, but the hosts directions were clear and avoided any problems.

Our stay at this HipCamp was a godsend as it rained heavily when we arrived and it was no big deal with the deck and roof there to keep us dry!!
We just backed our Bruder to the deck and we were in heaven!! The outside shower was divine and the toot was so not stinky and done well!!

This is such a beautiful place for nature lovers. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying an immersive experience of quiet and solitude in pristine bushland. The camp site is well cared for. There is a large shelter that was very convenient when it rained.

Ben has an amazing place , have already told my oldies to stay a few nights in their caravan .
Swim across the river to the Old butter factory is fairly easy even for the 4 legged friends .
We stayed on the reserve part which is about 80m walk to the river and a lot more shade up there too as there isn’t shade down on the river view camp area so can get abit hot over the Australia Day weekend .
All in all an awesome place to stay

Lovely spot on the river. Great campsites, lovely shade trees. Beautiful quiet long weekend away. Grass at our campsite was way too long. 2 lots of campers during our stay, one site appears to have been mowed in preparation for their stay, our site seemed unprepared.

This spot is beautiful! We stayed in our caravan on the Upper Terrace as we passed through Bellingen and it was so peaceful and quiet.
Ben was great in checking in on us and giving instructions on where to camp and information about the property.
The kids had a blast swimming in the river and seeing the cows across the river bank!

Great location close to Bellingen and Dorrigo. Plenty of open space for campers and caravaners and plenty of fire pits to light fires. Access to river swimming was quite difficult with overgrown fauna and grass was quite long making it quite uncomfortable to walk around our caravan. With a little maintenance this camp would be a ten out of ten.

We stayed at Groundswell for a week in our motorhome. We were greeted soon after arrival by Lauren who brought us a yummy chutney which was really nice of her and made us feel really welcome. The spot is super private and peaceful, you really have the whole camp to yourself and you wouldn't know anyone else is close by. It was also awesome having the deck, hot shower & drop toilet. Due to it being amongst trees it was nice watching all of the wildlife doing their stuff. The camp is also only 10 minutes to Brooms Head beach which was handy as it is a great spot to visit and it wasn't far to Maclean as well. Overall, we highly recommend!

A little chaotic with arrangements on the day but once there the site is idyllic. We kayaked and swam in the lovely warm slow river. A drive into Bellingen to be realistic but well worth it. We would think a young family or indeed a scout/guide group would love the place provided they had adequate toilet facilities
