The lower deck houses the kitchen and bathroom with a front deck complete with barbecue and amazing views. Relax and watch the kangaroos and eagles from your private deck. Summer swimming in the crystal clear river and winter camp fires where you can toast marshmallows. The lower level has a cooktop "no oven or fridge share fridge at entrance of park", outside gas BBQ and tables. You will need to bring your own drinking water. There is a toilet and shower downstairs. The top deck has two small single beds and one double, quilts and pillows however BYO linen sheets and towels. This bus has featured on many TV shows and is often featured in travel magazines, including on Better Homes and Gardens television in 2013 and in many magazines shoots. In the early 1970’s Mr James, the owner of 'Biara', subdivided three 25 acre blocks across the road from the original homestead. The first block was sold to his nephew, the middle block was to be purchased by the Preston family and ‘The Gateway’ was purchased by a Mr Carveth. Unfortunately, the sale of the middle block fell through then, due to family illness, 'Biara' was sold and the family moved to Blackheath. After this move, and as thank you to his son, Mr James transferred the title of the middle of the three subdivided blocks to his only son, William. Back in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s, the area was vastly different than it is today. Travelling to school entailed a car trip to Hargraves then bus to Mudgee which would have been a 2 hour round trip! The area was far more isolated as there was no power and entailed an overland phone line, which had to be regularly repaired if residents wanted to be able to communicate with the outside world. The site allows mainly for camping and relaxing although there are numerous dirt roads to explore, Mudgee wineries close by and Burrendong Dam not far away (accessible via Hill End Road near Erudgere). Hargraves is also known for it's alluvial gold deposits and fossickers still go there regularly to check out Louisa Creek. There is 15km's of dirt road which needs to be traveled to reach the property. Dependent on weather, and if it has been graded recently, this road can be in varying states of repair. In heavy rain it may be difficult to get 2WD access via the public road due to the clay content in the road . Kangaroo, wallaby, owl species, kookaburra, echidna, snakes, various lizards, including shinglebacks, are often seen on these roads and the property.

Collets place was easy to find ! Jon was amazing with answering questions we were not sure about and bringing food for our children to feed the animals! The kids had a blast so much space for them to ride their bikes ! So mum and dad where happy! Also close to scenic world which was an added plus for us!! We enjoyed our time in Turon gates. I like the location, by the river and close to mountains if you want to hike. We did hike during sunrise and sunset, it was great. I absolutely favour the flush toilet and hot shower, plus bins are available. Communication is great. They give clear instructions and directions before our stay. I highly recommends this place and wouldn’t mind going back.

We loved tent camping along the river bed here! The best part, it was at max capacity and we still felt like we got a great spot and weren’t on top of others. There was plenty of space to go around. It’s incredibly scenic and we also enjoyed the water hole with the tyre swing. We can’t wait to come back we just wish we lived closer

The campsite is well located for visiting the main attractions in the area. It is very quiet, and there are many electricity hook-ups and water points available throughout the site. The showers are also very good, with consistently hot water. One drawback is that not all areas of the campsite are level. If you do not arrive early, finding a suitable pitch can be difficult. From around 4 - 5 p.m. onwards, it usually becomes harder to choose a spot that fits your needs. Overall, it is a calm campsite with convenient access to key places of interest, though arriving early is recommended to secure an appropriate pitch.

Nice private space to disconnect with birds and trees surrounding. Small and bigger places for tent and campers. If possible arrive soon to get best spots. Facilities like kitchen, toilets and showers and good enough. The only downside is that there is only one bbq.

Bathurst Region

The sloping hills and valleys of NSW’s Central Tablelands harbor a rich history. When to go

Bathurst has four distinct seasons, but the weather rarely hits extremes, and outdoor activities are possible year-round with the right gear. Summer (December through February) is busiest, and the sunny days are ideal for wine tasting or water sports around the lakes. The small town draws huge crowds for the annual Bathurst 1000 (October) and Bathurst 12 Hour (February) motor races—book well in advance if visiting at this time.
