Nestled in the heart of southeast North Carolina and conveniently located an hour from Wilmington, Jacksonville and Fayetteville — our 40+ acre family land is situated directly on historic Black River. Well known for its beautiful trees, wildlife and fisheries, Black River is also home to the oldest bald cypress forest in the world, many being alive hundreds of years before Jesus walked the earth. We are the only riverfront camping experience on Black River so we aim to provide you the best views, the most exceptional hospitality (from hosts Lisa and Eric), with hopes that you leave completely happy with our little piece of heaven and wanting to return year after year!

Site 0 is the northern area of our riverside property. It includes sites 1 and 2 and allows a bit larger group by utilizing the northern most underutilized area. This area has 3 picnic tables, 3 trachcans and 3 fire-rings and a park style grill. This large area is a bit separated from the other sites with beautiful views and immediate access to the river. Call or message beforehand to discuss any potential for tiny tow-behinds or camper vans.

Lisa and Eric offer true southern hospitality in hosting! Very welcoming, thoughtful, and just the sweetest! We had a group of five humans and two dogs together to celebrate our son’s 10th birthday and their private campground was exactly what we’d hoped for! Arriving after the Labor Day holiday meant we had the whole place to ourselves almost our entire five night stay making it very private. The reviews on the clean “facilities” are fully accurate - they keep them tidy and are kind enough to stock a few extras. The property is lovingly maintained which made it easy to explore and enjoy. Sites are sized extremely generously, making it easy to setup and spread out, as needed. Our son enjoyed casting and even caught a “birthday fish”! The kayak launch and patio area is beautiful and a great addition to the property. Would definitely recommend a good bug spray due to proximity to the river and a spray bottle for legs and feet to help with any sand. The views of the river were just gorgeous and even the bit of rain we got was lovely to watch fall. Firewood is well supplied at the barn and not having to pack out trash was a great perk. Lots of wildlife to watch! We saw eagles, hawks, vultures, turkeys, lizards, fish, and heard barred owls…we even saw a small fox on our last night! Our kids (and their Nana) had an AWESOME time “frog hunting” after dark, if you have littles bring a small mesh bag and keep count! We had a blast and would to make it back sometime!

This place is such a hidden gem and such a special place. On top of the amazing location the owner keeps the place so well maintained and is one of the sweetest hostesses I have ever meet. You really need to check this place out is on of the best place in the Carolinians east of 95.

Absolutely amazing campground. Location is 10 out of 10. Go up river for a mile or so for some winding swamps before it becomes a more straightforward river. The cove right by the campsite has the most impressive cypresses nearby. The backwaters near site 1 are beautiful and fun to crawl into. The current isn't too strong, my 70 year old dad could go a few miles upriver no problem. The sites are well maintained, the community area is superb, the beach and boat launch is beautiful, and wildlife is incredible! We will be back for sure. While you're in the area, definitely put in at Henrys Landing and paddle down through the swamp towards the Hunt's Bluff campground. 12 miles total, we did it in 4 hours, but I'd recommend at least 6-8 for a relaxed trip and time in the swamp. Ask Lisa for Todd's number from Cape Fear Paddle (or go to capefearpaddle.com), as Todd will rent you kayaks, dropped off and picked up from the campsite for the cheapest rate in the state. Amazing service and it goes hand in hand with Lisa's amazing home.

Even through a weekend of rain, we still had a great time! We were on the end at Site 12 and had a awesome view of the river. We were also just stones throw away from the community area with tables and hammocks. Took out the floats and relaxed on the river. Will definitely be returning one day!

Awesome piece of land and great spot to camp. Perfect distance from the water and the river is easily accessible at multiple points. Plenty of shade and a great breeze from the water, even in July. And truly the cleanest Porta Potty I've ever seen.

1st time my kids have been camping and they highly enjoyed it. Clean areas. The water was perfect for the kids to play in. Fishing was a blast: Catfish, Bass, Gar and bluegill was all caught. Firewood was easily accessible. And. The portapotty, probably the cleanest and nicest smelling we’ve ever been in. Will def be back.

Camping here was paradise!! It was hot, but we didn’t even care! We spent a lot of time walking the shallows and kayaking. Fishing was amazing, there were loads of huge bowfin that were a blast to fight! The bathrooms were amazingly well kept and smelled better than any other I’ve ever been in. I especially loved the Cypress Trees! We will definitely be back!

I loved tent camping at black river creek Lisa was the best host we camped at emerald aisle and it was beautiful but the mosquitoes were not however where we camped was quiet beautiful seen and heard plenty of wildlife my son our dog loved it and NO MOSQUITOES we was so happy while we stayed and when we left. Hands down to Lisa and her beautiful property We will be visiting again

My daughter and I were lucky enough to take a last minute overnighter to this beautiful place. The sites are clean, level and nicely spaced between with a clean portajohn a short walk away. These are primitive sites with no elec or water ( side note, when coming in town we had forgot water but didnt sweat it as Google informed us there are 2 stores within a mile of campground... but they are definitely closed. We had to backtrack several miles to Kelly and unfortunately missed meeting our host, so fyi, get your goods before you get close! ) with each having its own firepit and trashcan. Each site is on the river and the beauty is just everywhere, wildlife ( and bugs, bring that spray! ) and nature in abundance. It's truly the kind of place that you just sit back, unplug and appreciate.

We had a fantastic time on this property. There are only 13 camp sites, so you will never be too crowded. Only 3 sites were used during our stay. It is secluded and very peaceful. Lisa was a great host. She made sure we did not need anything, and then left us alone to enjoy our time. She is very kind, and takes a lot of pride in keeping the property well maintained. There are two porta potys for the campers and they are extremely clean. We definitely plan to visit again anytime we come back to North Carolina.

My partner and I had a great experience tent camping on Lisa's land. The site was beautiful and there was abundant wildlife around camp—great for birding. The instructions were clear and there was plentiful firewood available for purchase by the host. We were hesitant at first about the portable toilets but they turned out to be very clean and much nicer than we expected.

I came here in February to do Solo camping. I liked it so much I booked Memorial weekend for my family. I came prepared to target Catfish. I caught 5 Catfish and 2 Gar. My wife and Daughter Tubed in the river and did some swimming. River is clean and clear despite being named the Black River. Lisa the Host is the Nicest person and drives around Periodically just to check on everyone. We will definitely be back.

Lisa’s site was great! Clean porta-potties, personal picnic tables, garbage cans, & fireplaces. Easy access to the creek. Land was spaced out enough so you didn’t feel on top of people! She was so nice and came around and greeted everyone and gave us a sticker!

Fantastic campground. Clean bathrooms and the owners were super nice. River was a little low so I would check ahead but nothing to take away from the experience.
