Highland cattle graze at the forest's edge on our Celtic-heritage farm: a gentle retreat with options for woodland wandering, farm-fresh breakfasts (weekdays only, must be requested one week in advance), and campfires complete with traditional Gaelic music!
Our 40-acre farm includes heritage-breed animals, organic gardens, and over 30 acres of conservation woodlands. We favor scythes over tractors--your stay will be quiet and fume-free! Bradbury Mountain and several trail networks are nearby, along with rivers, ocean beaches, and an excellent locavore food scene.
Since the early 1800s, this land on the edge of Chandler Brook has nourished bodies and spirits alike. Sloping pastures meet well-managed woodlands, making this a haven for both humans and wildlife. Since the 1980s, we have worked to restore the soil and make a "hand-built" life as farmers using pre-industrial organic methods. We maintain pollinator habitats, tend an fledgling orchard of heirloom-variety fruit trees, and conserve rare heritage-breed animals, including Tamworth pigs and Scottish Highland Cattle. Our shared love for Celtic folk culture has blended naturally with our love of sustainable agriculture to create Tir na nOg Farm. Today, the work of restoration continues with the help of farm partners, family, friends, WWOOFers, and other volunteers. This land is already better than we found it, but we hope it will remain a gathering-ground of culture and agriculture, tradition and innovation for generations to come.

Tir Na Nog Farm offers a delightful camping experience with a unique twist. Guests rave about the charming hobbit house and cozy yurt, both providing a comfortable stay amidst serene surroundings. The farm's animals, including pigs, cows, and chickens, add an engaging element, and many visitors appreciate the opportunity to interact with them. Friendly hosts and a convenient location near Portland enhance the overall experience, making it a sought-after spot for those looking to connect with nature and enjoy a peaceful retreat.
We had a wonderful stay at Holly’s farm. Camping site was lovely, plenty of room for our two tents, though we spent most of our time sitting by the communal firepit and watching the pigs. Holly was incredibly generous with her time in giving us a tour and a chance to brush the cows. The outhouse was clean. We had a great time and will be back!
Such a special space! I have been on many small farms and homesteads, but Holly has truly created something magical, the energy was infectious!
Would definitely love to visit again and would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable lodging option near Portland, ME.
A lovely lil farm ran by a lovely couple. Was offered fresh produce (best cherry tomatoes of my life and we are from the garden state), fed cows, admired pigs. Wish we had more time here honestly. Stayed in the yurt, emphasis on cozy and comfy. Skies were so clear, perfect for the meteor shower, no light pollution. Hosts = delightful. Wwoofers were equally delightful.
Beautiful, quiet farm with so much to see! The hobbit house was lovely and clean. The animals were fun to watch for the kids. The hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. We would love to return some day!
Fantastic spot for a short overnight or a longer trip. The hosts made me very comfortable and it is a quiet and quaint location still close to Portland, Freeport and all othe area attractions.
The farm is adorable and Holly is so nice, we had a wonderful night staying here! It was so fun to walk around and see the animals, and our site was nice and secluded for being so easy to access. The WOOFers were also super nice.
Had a lovely stay here! Holly and the rest of the farm crew were so lovely. Beautiful spot, the tent is gorgeous, and the bed is so comfy.
The pigs are so cute as well.
Fyi that the outdoor shower is a solar bag shower, not a faucet/plumbing attached kind of shower, it was fine for us but thought it should be noted
I’d stay here again and again and hope to soon!
We had the most magical time and hope to return next year. They were so generous with information and taking the time to give us a tours of their beautiful farm. We learned about the animals and the organic farm network. We stayed in the darling Hobbit House, which is so thoughtfully put together, with a ton of pillows, books and a little treasure box of items to enchant you!
A beautiful farm with beautiful people! Piglets, cows, and chickens provided the entertainment we needed. Staying in the Hobbit House is such a magical experience. A unique structure with ample room to relax and listen to nature. The loop trail in the back was a pleasant surprise, filled with ferns and hemlocks, I walked it every morning observing something new. Holly was very welcoming and provided us with excellent recommendations for local food. Great location that feels tucked away but is close to great hikes, food, and anything else you could need. There’s a very cute bakery nearby that was delicious!
Holly’s farm is so peaceful. Lovely plants growing all around, plus chickens and pigs. The camping spot is on a small hill above the farmhouse area. Nice view, surrounded by trees and other plants. Very relaxing. Close to Yarmouth and Portland. We would love to stay again.
We stayed at the Tir Na Nog Farm (campsite 2) for the weekend. The experience was amazing! Not only is the farm beautiful, the animals were the highlight. Chickens, pigs, highland cows, and a guinea fowl. We were there when a pig had her baby’s and is was so great to see the little ones. The host were kind as bd informative and I learned so much while visiting.
Lovely experience at Tir na nog camping. Hosts are welcoming and nice. Really quiet place and being surounded with dogs, pigs, chickens and cows was so conforting. We will definitely come back!
My partner and I visited Tir na nOg farm in mid-June on our way to Acadia, and we stayed in the hobbit house. Our host, Holly, and other farm staff were so kind to us, including taking us on a tour of the farm and describing the foundations of its functions, offering a delicious (and beautiful) breakfast, and answering our many questions! Their hospitality was so appreciated, and we would consider coming back to stay for a little longer and enjoy the area. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!
This was an amazing experience. The hosts, Holly & Sue are extremely nice and they are happy to tell you about their farm operations. We are so happy we decided to stay here. The campsite was clean, private and surrounded by nature. I would absolutely stay here again, even just to see the animals.
We had such a lovely experience here! Our first time camping as a family with kids, we knew we wanted something magical. Getting to watch the animals during the day, and having the cozy hobbit hole to return to after a great day of adventuring... It was wonderful! The farmers were so kind and very very helpful. We would be happy to return again!
I loved staying at campsite 2 for the night. I’m not from the area and I felt so welcomed by the farm hands and had a great time walking around seeing all the animals. The dogs were my favorite (they’re so sweet)!
Tent site 3 was perfect for our small group! We had individual tents so Holly showed us another small spot where we could set up. There's no picnic bench at this site, but a camp table we were able to borrow and carry out. We all slept so well among the fireflies and owls! Hope to return soon!
What a charming place! I stayed at campsite 1 which is a 30 second walk from the parking spot right off the driveway. The fireflies and rose bushes and enormous trellising flowers were gorgeous. Lucy the farmhand showed me around and I loved meeting the sweet farm dogs. Fell asleep to the sounds of bullfrogs and made ample use of the little plastic picnic table (fantastic journaling spot 10/10). The composting toilets were standard composting toilets. No smell beyond the expected, clean little outhouse. Hand sani and TP provided, I’d recommend not forgetting a head lamp. I’d gladly stay here again, it was peaceful and I took a nice long walk down the gravel road to enjoy the barn swallows sweeping past the fields. A note for runners and walkers, about 3/4 of a mile down that gravel road the neighbors have big German shepherds that are really good at scaring passerby(!!) but they we leashed to a runner — just really loud very-good-at-being-guard-dog dogs. :)
Amazing spot to camp. Campsite was clean, quiet and beautiful. The employees were very helpful and kind and the farm was awesome to explore. I had a great time and would come back for sure!
Such an adorable spot. The hobbit house was very clean and comfortable. Had fun interacting with the cows and chickens on the property. We took advantage of the farm-fresh breakfast and were so glad we did! Delicious and clearly a lot of thought and care went into it. There’s a cute little trail that snakes through the back of the property that was great for spotting cool mushrooms. Wouldn’t absolutely come back here and recommend it to others.
This was an awesome spot for a weekend trip! Holly and the Woofers were super friendly, the farm was very cool to explore, and our site (#2) was a perfect private spot in the woods. Would highly recommend!
I stayed at site number one. I got a great welcome when I got there, the parking spot for that site was very close to the entrance. The site was level, spacious for all my needs. Road traffic was very minimal. Maybe one car every half an hour or an hour. This would be a great place to bring kids, their dogs are super friendly and very calm. The other sites are very wooded and secluded. I went in the spring in late April, but going there in the summer would be great with the farmers market and everything in full bloom and growing. A super place to stay.
