My wife and I were drawn to the beauty of the San Luis Valley with it’s rich Native American, Spanish and early American History. This valley is also the World’s largest Alpine Valley with the Sangre de Cristo mountain range on the east and the San Juan mountains to the West. Truly beautiful countryside. Our 5 acre parcel is within a 56,160 acre rural subdivision that the Forbes family sold back in the 1970’s. Our parcel is at 8,800 elevation. The newly made driveway leads down the hill to a cleared area where you can park your vehicle. We will provide GPS coordinates to your reserved campsite as well as the entry gate lock combination. We recommend using "On X Offroad" GPS app, it works better than Google Maps. There is ample distance between each campsite and plenty of trees to hang hammocks or suspended tree tents.

A very good place to stay! Pablo was very helpful with sending details about the location, how to get in, and where to park. The site itself had a fantastic view of the mountains nearby and was sheltered some by trees.

Mount Blanca View Camp
Camp was hard to find and not at all accessible via 4x4. Once we found it, the spot was ok, but it had not been cleaned up since the last use as there was a small stove with trash in and around it.

Great spot but be prepared!

Beautiful location, site and each camp site absolutely needs GPS coordinants. We had torrential rain evening of arrival, dirt road was a river and mud slide off road parking impossible. We had an all wheel drive vehicle which was useless against the mud slides and no way to pull off side parking with high side road inclines and ground side ruts that’s became rushing streams both sides of road. 4 wheel drive a must in wet conditions or snow all wheel drive works but only if dry or very slight sprinkling rain. The sites themselves had trash, beer cans and bottles littered throughout with an old water heater dumped near one. We picked up what we could previous trash. Otherwise the site and host were great and Specifically knowing what we know now we would stay again specifically with 4 wheel drive vehicle.

Relaxing Weekend Getaway

The trail campsite was a bit difficult to find in the dark but the GPS coordinates were spot on and the site was far enough from the road to be quiet and private but close enough to make unloading the car fairly easy. The fragrant pines and pinions around the site provided excellent shade and lots of places to hang a hammock.

This site is very secluded than what I was expecting. The gps coordinates are crucial for finding each specific camping area. No parking spots or any designating sign to verify you're in the right spot, just the coordinates and some worn patches of land that indicate someone has slept here before. This definitely adds to the charm and seclusion of the site but also had me slightly uncertain if I was in the right area since I was the only car parked along the dirt road. After a while some more folks showed up which assured me I was correct. The camping areas aren't clearly marked (not a bad thing) as you're able to choose out of a few worn patches where you'd like to pitch your tent. Each site is spaced well away from each other but I was still able to hear a few people chatting now and again. The shrubbery and ponderosa trees are thick enough that you cannot see other campers (at least at site #1). Overall a very gorgeous and private spot. Had a very quiet and pleasant stay here for 1 night. If you're a little confused about the directions, don't be - if your gps coordinates are correct take a look around and it'll be clear you're in the right area if the land seems like it's been camped on before. Great spot

Very primitive campsite- be ready to clear out some sticks and brush to prepare your site for a tent. Ultimately a great option for a guaranteed spot on 4th of July weekend when FFS sites are sure to be full and chaotic!

Mount Blanca View Camp
This campsite was good for our one night stay. You won’t have cell service which amazing OTHER than the fact that the site is definitely on the primitive side in terms of finding it. We were on the creekside site and there was no creek at the time which the site host of course can’t control, but it made finding the campsite more difficult for sure. I wouldn’t rely on your phones gps to find this site, we ended up saying screw it and hoped we were at the correct place and ended up getting lucky. The actual property was pretty dirty in the sense that it seems like previous campers may just kinda leave their things there (ie. Engine oil bottles, boxes of misc rusty tools, what looked like an old part of an exhaust from a car perhaps, general garbage). It’s a bummer, because I have a feeling the garbage on the property it probably left by random people and not the owner, so it’s a shame because it has potential to be a great spot. All in all, nothing to write home about by any means, but we had a place to sleep at least!

Pretty, very basic place to stay for a night. Unless there was another way to enter the site, there didn't seem to be any way to drive in even with 4x4 - and the sites where not marked in anyway nor was the entrance to walk in. Helpful to know this in advance!

Not what we expected

Sadly this site was not what we expected. We could not figure out where campsite #1 was. Parking our car on the road would have been fine if we could see it from the site and it was a safe walk, but we trekked down the hill and through thick bushes and trees and could not find a flat spot that looked good for a tent anywhere. This would’ve been a nice spot had the sites been clearly marked and we knew they were flat, and not too far from the road where our car needed to be parked.

Misleading description
Mount Blanca View Camp
So the site itself was Shaded and hidden from the other campsites. My only complaint with the site is that the description said I could drive up to it if I had a 4x4 vehicle.... which is 100% impossible even with the most capable off-road vehicle. You’d need a chainsaw, Atv, and a shovel to get to the site. Had I known this ahead of time I would have packed differently. The site and the host were great, just change the description so that it isn’t misleading.

This spot is great, the host Pablo is great he was super helpful in finding the place and specific! Got there no problem. It was also felt very remote, and distant. I would totally check this spot out again in the future!!

Primitive Site with Solid Views

Solid piece of raw land just 20 minutes from Fort Garland. It was hard to find the campsite even with GPS but we liked the site we ended up at.

Mount Blanca View Camp
The San Luis Valley and specifically the area surrounding Fort Garland, Co. is a pretty special place for me - as my family has been visiting/living there for a very long time. That being said, it can be rough too. It is at high altitude in a relatively dry area. Definitely bring water and be prepared for cooler weather at night. It's also far from noise, traffic, light pollution and all the other wonders I usually camp to get away from. I can recommend it to anyone, but be prepared for a very primitive situation. Also, pay attention to the written directions, as gps can be a little funny on the ranch.

Mount Blanca View Camp
Beautiful raw land with a nice view of the mountains in a gorgeous setting. Very basic, in fact, completely raw land with no cleared sites or parking. Parking is just pulling off the road as best you can. The host was a very good communicator and responded to all of my questions. I'd recommend this for someone who just wants a pretty and basic place to stay in a beautiful area.
