Welcome to our little slice of mountain heaven! Tucked away between Aspen, Vail, and Leadville, Gondola Village is more than just a cabin—it’s a dream we’ve built at nearly 12,000 feet. We’re pretty sure it’s one of the highest-altitude retreats on the planet, making it a true bucket-list spot for anyone with an adventurous soul. When you stay here, the Holy Cross Wilderness is literally your front porch. You’ll have direct access to pristine trails, hidden alpine lakes, and peaks that feel like they belong only to you, all while being just a few hours from the hustle of Denver. It’s Colorado’s "water wilderness" at its most majestic, and we can’t wait for you to experience the magic of having world-class hiking, fly fishing, and backcountry skiing right outside your door. We’ve poured our hearts into the design of our two cabins, the Alpine Gondola Lodge and the Lost Gondola Lodge. We wanted to celebrate the rugged history of our local mining towns while bringing in the clean, cozy vibes of Scandinavian mountain design. Every corner is filled with things we love: snuggle up with Rumpl blankets, sip your morning coffee from Miir mugs, and cook up a feast on a classic Coleman stove. We’ve even tucked in a guitar, a library of our favorite books, and a super comfy Metolius couch for those lazy afternoons. Fun fact: because our spot is so secluded that big deliveries have to come in by helicopter, we’ve hand-picked every single item to make sure your off-the-grid stay feels special and incredibly comfortable. You might have spotted us on Discovery Channel’s Reclaimed or heard about our support from Airbnb’s OMG! Fund. We’ve spent years learning how to blend high-end design with wild beauty, and Gondola Village is the result of that passion. It’s a place we built for people who, like us, are looking for a little peace, a lot of seclusion, and a chance to really plug back into the natural world. Part of the magic is just getting here—it’s the first chapter of your adventure! Since we’re so far off the beaten path, access is part of the fun. You can hike or bike the scenic 2.5-mile uphill trail or if you’re driving, you’ll need a serious off-road vehicle with a winch and lockers to make the climb. In winter, the approach is 11 miles of over-snow travel.

Your wilderness adventure awaits in this darling Alpine cabin, inspired by mining heritage and huts around the world. The Alpine Gondola Lodge at Gondola Village is ready for adventure, elopement, anniversaries, brand shoots, more. Believed to be the highest Hipcamp cabin in the world. Regardless of season, adventure is guaranteed, but read this about access so you are educated about our wilderness travel options in all seasons: In summer, most guests will want to hike 2.5 miles (or more depending on the choice of trails) to the site, as the hike is beautiful, and the drive is best reserved for motorbikesor 4wd jeeps with winches. In winter (Nov 21 - May 21), access is by over-snow vehicles such as snowmobiles (with proper experience), backcountry skis (with proper experience), snowshoes. Expect 10.5 - 11+ miles of over-snow transport Gondola Village is a one room cabin with full bed for two and extra mattresses for one more person. Large variety of excellent backcountry ski routes, fly fishing lakes, hiking trails, and climbing. Leave No Trace style property your LNT practices help us keep hosting awesome people. Please remember food, water, and sleeping bag liners if you want to use our bags, wag bags (for use with the gray folding NRS toilet, located in the outdoor bath). Pots and such are available for your use. There is a small wood burning stove inside the cabin for late fall, winter, and spring use (please bring 6" length logs if you'd like to use this) and there is a fire pit/ring outside (please bring 8-16" length logs if you'd like to use this). Check local fire bans (Eagle County and White River National Forest) before burning! Expect to have no cell service along the way so we would suggest downloading the area map to your phone before taking off. A topo map is an excellent item for your pack as well. There are several different routes you can take when getting to the cabin Winter (Nov 21 - May 20, approx, check USFS website for exact): Plan on the road being unplowed off of HWY 24, so plan on 7.5 miles flat on the 703 road and then 3.5-4 miles up on the Road 759 (right turn off of 703) over snow by snowmobile, snowshoes, touring skis, etc. Parking is often available at start of 703 road well before the bridge, or off of 24.

Work Exchange: A Balance of Labor and Solitude We are seeking collaborators who seek more than just a place to stay—they seek to be part of an immersive, alpine legacy. Gondola Village, a project featured on Discovery Channel’s Reclaimed and a recipient of Airbnb’s OMG! Fund, is inviting individuals to join our community for unique short-term work exchanges. This is not a traditional cabin rental. It is a work-trade opportunity designed for those who appreciate the intersection of grit and creativity. In exchange for 2+ nights in our modern, fully insulated alpine cabins, we ask for your contribution to the property. We curate the schedule to balance a few hours of daily project work with ample time to disconnect, explore the surrounding wilderness, or engage in deep, distraction-free work. Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast looking to give back to the trails or a professional seeking a sanctuary for a project, we want to facilitate that. We value diverse skill sets. We are looking for: Builders and Stewards: Those with experience in trail building, landscaping, exterior staining, carpentry, or property maintenance. If you know how to build with your hands and care about sustainable stewardship, you’ll find a home here. Creators & Deep-Thinkers: Are you founding a company, drafting a manuscript, or developing a creative masterwork? This is your sanctuary. We provide the silence, the altitude, and the mountain air; you provide the focus. We believe that true "deep work" happens when the distractions of the modern world are literally miles away. How you give back is up for you to propose -- content, network, equity? Located near Holy Cross City, CO, we border the vast Holy Cross Wilderness. Access is part of the experience. You’ll have to carry in your clothes, food, and other items. The approach is rigorous: Summer Access: A minimum 2.5-mile hike. If you are driving, a high-clearance 4WD vehicle (jeep crawler, winch/lockers highly recommended) is necessary and vehicle damage is likely. If your vehicle lacks 8”+ of clearance, please anticipate a 4-mile approach. Project dates for 2026 include: September 14–18 October TBD (potentially 8-10) If you cannot make these dates but have exceptional, specialized skills and the ability to work independently, please reach out.
