This is such an awesome and serene place, covered under the starry night sky. It's a very peaceful area overlooking the military base and national monument park. It's not far from town or the monument and is off of a regularly dragged dirt road. The host is very generous and welcoming, and accommodates free fire wood. I come from Colorado so the change of scenery, climate, and atmosphere was very breathtaking. I appreciated the hospitality and comfort The Watering Hole has to offer. I recommend any persons staying in the area looking for a nice quiet campground to book a night at this spot.

Samuel was super nice and made us feel really comfortable. The location is just outside of Joshua tree (20 min drive from north entrance) and is close to town also. It's mostly flat land with a view of the mountains in the distance. Sunsets were beautiful. The facilities are clean and includes an outdoor shower! Solar powered garden lights gently lit our path too and from. He supplied a cooler, fire pit with grill AND firewood. Also their two dogs are the cutest and will visit you if you like. We felt so lucky to find this 5 acre plot. Definitely recommend

A great spot to camp! As other reviews already stated: a very beautiful night sky (we even saw some shooting stars!) and sunrise. Clean toilet and the shower immediately wakes you up on a chilly november morning. ;-) Samuel is a really helpful guy! He gave us fire wood and started the fire for us and asked if we needed something else. Bonus points: 2 very cute dogs can be your companions if you want!

Samuel, his wife, and his dogs are so friendly and welcoming, they made sure we had everything we needed. my friend and I loved watching the sunset, it was the best one I saw during my trip. Such a cool place thats still close enough to the park, we were able to roll out of our tent and make it to watch the sunrise in Joshua Tree.

Staying here was awesome! Sam and his family were extremely welcoming, even inviting us to their thanksgiving dinner. The site had everything we needed including a fire pit with grill grate, firewood, showers, bathroom, and plenty of space. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for a place to camp in the area.

We had the most amazing time at the Watering hole! The camping site is really nice and the bathroom and drinking water was right by us. The place is beautifully maintained with solar path lights and proper songs and notes everywhere. The bathroom is clean. The location is not far from the park and just like the post says, it is close enough ro get pizza delivery - and we did ! It was wonderful to enjoy a pizza by the fire. Sam is very friendly and helpful and attentive as a host and he has given a lot of attention to detail in making this site feel comfortable and welcoming ! He also has firewood available so we did not have to go buy it the day we arrived. Part of the welcoming committee are the cutest dogs and we had such a fun time playing with them! I highly recommend this place to everyone!

The host (Sam) was great, very responsive, and provided wood and kindling. Great price, level place for tent. Would stay again.
