My family and I really enjoyed the place. The cabin is nice, the creek is grounding and the chair in the middle of the field is like an iMax during the day with the view of mount Shasta and a star observatory during the night.

Peaceful, Private, and Close to Nat

We had a great stay here. The cabin is very private, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. It is far enough from the neighbors that we could not see anyone nearby, which made the whole experience feel very quiet and secluded. The cabin itself was cozy and welcoming, and the kitchen was well equipped. There is gas available for cooking, but guests should be aware that the property is completely off-grid with no electricity. The creek water is also very cold, so showering may be a little challenging if you are sensitive to cold water. The spot with a view of the snowy mountains is about 100–200 meters from the cabin. The grass along the way was quite tall, so the walk took a little longer than expected, but the view and natural setting were worth it. Gary was very responsive and replied quickly whenever we had questions. The coordinates he provided were extremely accurate, so the property was easy to find. There are two possible roads to reach the cabin. One may require a vehicle with higher ground clearance, while the other is flatter and suitable for a regular car. We drove a Tesla Model S using the flatter route. It was a little longer and somewhat narrow, but the road surface was smooth, and we had no trouble getting there. Overall, this is a wonderful place for anyone looking for privacy, nature, and a true off-grid experience. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend it.

Fantastic view! I want to take my family camping for the first time and decided to choose ShastaView. Basically had the place to ourselves, no one was around. The roads are a bit rough but if you follow Gary’s instructions, you’d get to the location just fine. The spot to view the mountain is about 1-2 min walk from the kitchen, but the result was worth it!

Beautiful land with obviously great views. The treehouse is surrounded by, well . . . trees, with a door and porch looking out onto a meadow. Sitting on the porch with some coffee in the morning was perfect. Much of the road back to the property is flat gravel but the last part is a really rocky, bumpy road. Drive slowly and carefully and reconsider any vehicle with minimal clearance.

This was my second time staying at Shasta View and it is such a special place! Very comfortable, and beautiful spots to camp. It is an extremely short walk to the meadow where the mountain is (1 minute), and it is such an incredible view. Plenty of shade in over 90 degree weather for us. The camp kitchen is well equipped and spacious - we loved the sinks for dishwashing. The stream water was clean, cool and refreshing on hot days as well. Feels like you are pretty removed from civilization but town is only 20 minutes away and it is a maximum of 35 minutes to all main attractions around Shasta. Directions were a bit confusing but we all found it and had a great group trip!

Overall we had a good time. Gary was communicative and responsive. The kitchen was well stocked. However, the road in was pretty rough to navigate in a low clearance car. We booked this spot for great views of Mt. Shasta, which unfortunately are only visible after walking 1/4 mile into an overgrown swampy meadow. There are no views of the mountain from the treehouse or kitchen which was disappointing. The hard to get to location is probably great for adventurous campers but wouldn’t recommend for families with young kids.

This is a magical place. You experience the vision that was made for this place . I had a wonderful time and the location wonderful to experience the surrounding area of mount Shasta easily . I cannot wait to return. Highly recommend if you want to experience nature fully— but have the comforts of a safe place to sleep and a full kitchen to enjoy. Thank you Gary for creating this wonderful space 💜 .

Gary’s property is just beautiful. The kitchen is fully functional, and a great space next to the creek to gather. The field and view of Shasta where you set up the tents is so peaceful. The cabin is cozy and tucked away a bit from the kitchen for privacy. Gary was a great communicator. Highly recommend!

Private and serene nature retreat

This site is amazing, and we look forward to returning in the future. Gary was very friendly in all interactions. The treehouse fit Our family of 4 with small children on the floor. The cooking stove was awesome. The sound on the trickling creek and hammock were relaxing. We rented only the treehouse, which means we were sharing the 5 acre area with those who rented the meadow tent platform. Shared facilities include the compost privy, fire pit and picnic table. The view of Shasta and stars from the meadow was spectacular, so next time, we will pay a bit more and rent the whole place.

wonderful stay

We had the most wonderful stay at Gary's treehouse, we felt very secluded and deep in nature which was wonderful, we drank water from the local brook and felt very private to the other camp site on the property which is totally out of sight. The treehouse is really well stoked if you want to do any cooking on the 2 burners which we did! We loved it and would love to come back.

Everything was great. We may have missed it somewhere but we weren’t expecting the 100 step walk to the platform for camping — not a big deal — though added to the setup time for us with a kiddo. The view was wonderful, and we had everything we needed! Already thinking about returning and booking treehouse next time.

I kind of hate to share secret of this place. Beautiful, well cared for, peaceful, and safe. Just enough off the main roads for privacy, quiet and wildlife, but close enough to pick up ice or anything else forgotten. Lots of nearby hiking and water, although does require driving to get there. Loved it and will stay again

Simple, rustic, and cozy structure

The Shasta View Treehouse is a great little space. Perched up off the ground with beautiful meadow and woods views, the spot is perfect. Simple and cozy and well supplied. The nearby bubbling creek and fire pit make for a perfect setting to chill in. Plenty of shade from the hot sun. A full view of Mt. Shasta is just paces away. Look forward to visiting again in the future!

Perfect second visit here!

The Meadows site is fantastic. Upon arriving you follow a footpath across the meadow to a tent pad. Beautifully shaded from the afternoon sun by tall pines the spot is perfect. When you turn around and view the majestic Shasta, you'll realize just how beautiful the spot is. Lucky to camp there. The set up works well overall. Great fire pit, stream, and cooking or picnic deck, but know that you share it with anyone staying at the Treehouse. It can work just fine, but it's good to know. All in all, a perfect stay. In fact, this was my second visit to Gary's little paradise. Thanks!

Scenic, quiet and private

I loved this site so much that I almost don’t want to let the secret out. Amazingly beautiful and scenic. The upkeep is great - so many little details were thought of and the site was so clean and undisturbed that we couldn’t tell if anyone had been there before us. I will definitely be back.

A Magical Location!

Beautiful location. Gary is an incredibly gracious host. My fiancee (now wife) and I were looking for secluded location to have a small 4 person wedding ceremony and stumbled across ShastaView. We could not have imagined a more beautiful, serene location. As soon as we got out of our car we were greeted by a babbling brook. The view of Mt Shasta is truly breathtaking. We will definitely be back in the future for a longer visit.

Gary's treehouse is simply an amazing place to stay. It was beautiful. Remote, close to a large meadow, with a nearby creek and gorgeous views of Mt Shasta.
