The vibe at Campsite right outside Lassen NP
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Great camping spot in the woods as close to Lassen as you can get. Only a few other campsites were occupied and we had no one next to us at campsite 11. Trail down to the creek is right at the campsite, great fire pit, and Pit toilet is nearby. We booked this just hours before getting there and got a quick response!
This camp site was perfect. We stayed at site 3 and 5 which are right next to each other and right next to the bathroom/showers. Mill Creek Lodge is only a short walk away that is really convenient if you run out of supplies. The pathway to the creek is behind camp site 11, but is very steep and there really wasn't much room to just sit and relax down there. Overall, this campsite was beautiful and would definitely come back.
This campground was great! Initially I really wanted to get a campsite inside of the National Park, but being disorganized in planning this trip, I didn't get it done in time, so booked here instead because I could do it the night before.
The campground directly borders the National Forest (there's official signs on the trees), so you really can't get any closer.
For those wondering, it's 15-20 minutes, depending on your driving to the National Park Entrance and Kohm-yah-ma-nee Visitor Center and roughly 45 minutes to Summit Lake. That means that most of the Southwest part of the park is closer to this campground than it is to Manzanita Lake.
One big advantage of here over inside the park is that you're away from the roads and crowds of people passing right by your campsite, as well as having the store & restaurant close by.
The service is amazing from the owners. Quiet, private campsites/it was very nice to have showers and bathrooms; they could have been kept up better, though. Also, warm water gave out. Still was a wonderful stay!!
I would highly recommend this campsite. It’s very well maintained and is located very close to Lassen NP (about 9 miles). Campsite itself leads to a good forest hiking trail and has a creek flowing right next to it. So there’s lots to do around. Jillian and co are great people. They helped us with everything and made sure we were settled in our campsite. I’d definitely stay again.
Cool little campground- quiet and clean. we ended up in site #5- Not a bad site but be aware site 5 IS the trail to the bathrooms. Wasn't an issue for us, we got to know ALL the neighbors quickly :0)
Jillian and her crew were great hosts. A very family friendly down home vibe. Really nice to be able to walk up to the Inn and grab a beer while our kiddo played on the playground with other guests. We had planned to cook over the fire but our campsite was one of the few without a permanent grill and they promptly found us a portable grilling surface so we could cook out. Will definitely be coming back here!
Mill Creek Resort is a treasure! We camped at site 17 which was at the end of the road. Because it backs up onto forest land, it feels more spacious and private then some of the other sites. The only negative was the pit toilet nearest our site, but we figured out quickly that the flush toilets with sink and showers adjacent to site #5 wasn’t that much further and worth an extra few minutes. We spent 6 nights here, which wasn’t long enough to explore the nearby creek, Lassen National Park and Lake Almanor. The best part about Mill Creek Resort are proprietors Joe and Jillian, who were super hospitable and enthusiastic. They have recently purchased the resort and are committed to making improvements to facilities and the property. We peeked in a few of the cabins, which are really quaint and well appointed. The restaurant was basic American fare but delicious — breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and best of all, milkshakes and local draft beer. We look forward to returning to stay in one of those cute cabins next time. Thank you Joe and Jillian!
