Private cabin on Lake Caldwell, a small sag pond on our 70 acre ranch, Angeles Crest Creamery, just 90 minutes from Los Angeles. The cabin includes 2 twin beds (trundle style), a sink, mini fridge, a hot plate, a microwave and a toaster oven. There is a shared portable toilet for campers a few hundred feet away. The well insulated, pine-lined cabin is equipped with radiant floor heating to keep you warm on even the most chilly mountain nights. There is an outdoor shower and tub with view just outside the cabin (which is turned off when freezing temps are expected at night, generally October-May, but can be turned on during the day for use upon request). Picnic bench and lounge chairs outside. Parking immediately adjacent to cabin (1 car only please). Very private, with views of the lake, our goat barn, and Pinon Ridge.
The Lake Cabin is an ideal base camp for larger groups, with lots of room to set up tents in the area.
There are nice short hikes on the property. You can also participate in farm chores (collecting eggs, feeding goats, milking, etc). There is a sauna on site for guest use. Big Rock Creek and Devil's Punchbowl are about 10 minutes away by car. Wrightwood / Mountain High is 13 miles West.
Guests can bring their own food or purchase products from the ranch to prepare. Offerings are seasonal and a list of what's available will be sent to you the week before your stay.

The vibe at Lake Cabin in San Gabriels
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This cabin was great! We got a ride down the mountain because it was too muddy to drive our car, and the cabin was so precious. It's right next to a lake, and the view was incredible. It was a super snowy night but we were plenty warm with the cabin's floor heating.
The hosts were cool as heck! Christian brought us coffee in the morning, and he let us meet all the goats. I'm definitely coming back.
The Lake Cabin is absolutely beautiful! My wife and I celebrate our one year weeding anniversary here and we loved it. Our host Gloria was really friendly and super helpful, she gave us a quick tour of her ranch and introduced us to her lovely animals before letting us explore the property for our selfs. The cabin itself was really clean and the heated floors kept the cabin nice and warm. I can't recommend this place enough, will definitely be coming back.
This place was phenomenal!! One of the hardest things about living in L.A. is finding a place where you can truly get away from people, like aaalll people, not a bunch of other weekend warrior hikers like yourself. This place is a much needed sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of LA. I'm tempted to say it really sucked so no one else will book out the weekends we want to go back!
Amazing experience. Me and my 2 1/2 year old son went for a night away from the city. Loved the cabin and how cozy and inviting it felt. Especially loved the rocking chair on the front porch while enjoying the freshly delivered fruit. We were so close to LA but felt so secluded. My son kept saying how many stars were in the sky. The next morning, we explored the property and greeted 3 amazing white dogs who looked like wolves. My son loved petting the dogs and goats as well as making friends with all the baby chickens. We can't wait to come back and potentially check out the airstream.
Went with my wife for one night, had a great time, 100% recommended! We arrived Friday around 3pm, helped Gloria with some chores (milking the goats), paddled around the lagoon (very relaxing!) and then spend the rest of the day reading at the porch. Great getaway very close to LA!
My husband and I spent two nights at the Lake Cabin, and we loved our stay at this magical property. The tiny cabin was just the right size for the two of us, and it afforded us peaceful privacy and the chance to spend time in nature and among the ranch's animals while still having a comfy place to sleep and a nice little kitchenette for making our meals. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower, having a fridge to store perishables, and sitting out on the porch to admire the view. We visited the barn during milking time each morning and got to hang out with our awesome host, Gloria, and many of her barnyard creatures, which was a wonderful experience for us city dwellers. We learned so much from Gloria and she let us practice our brand-new milking skills. The daily effort results in the most delicious goat milk and yogurt products you've ever tasted. Make sure you pick some up to try during your stay! We hiked all around the property and watched a spectacular sunset from Sunset Rock (best place for sunset viewing). From the Angeles Crest Creamery, we also made short trips out to Wrightwood, the Devil's Punchbowl, Big Rock Creek, Saint Andrew's Abbey, and other local sites. We enjoyed everything about our glamping-style experience, and I sure hope we get the chance to return.
You aren't just renting a cabin, you're renting an experience! The cabin is lovely and clean with bedding and towels, plenty of light, a burner and a pot and pan, utensils and dishes, a toaster oven and an electric water heater. There is a mini fridge, so if you don't like the noises of fridges you should just bring your own cooler. The dogs who are guarding the animals at night will also make noise at night so you should bring ear plugs if you're sensitive, but we didn't mind it.
There are electrical outlets inside and outside the cabin so you can charge if you need to. There's also a little portable speaker with an aux cable. There's an awning outside and plenty of seating for enjoying the beautiful view of the lake and star gazing at night. You can paddle on the lake in the canoe if the water is high enough. In the morning, you can talk to the wonderful hosts who will introduce you to all the animals: goats, dogs, hogs, donkey and chickens. You can milk the goats and pet the animals, they were all very friendly. The goats walk around and forage throughout the day. If you bring any pets, make sure you clear it with Gloria first so she'll give you the low-down.
Though we didn't get to partake, you can have homemade and locally sourced food that the hosts make and grow brought to your cabin. There's a clean cedar compost toilet and a porta-potty.
The cabin also has an open outdoor shower which is a much appreciated luxury, as well as potable water in the cabin! There is an adorable sauna we didn't try, but looked clean and tidy. There weren't too many bugs and it got hot at times, but we found enough shade. The hosts are lovely people and we thank them for sharing their space and time and land with us. This is my second time at the creamery and both the cabin and campsite are wonderful glamping experiences. We had a very relaxing and fun trip and highly recommend it.
We were a large group of 17. Gloria was really helpful through he entire process and suggested that we rent the cabin and set up our tents around it. It was perfect for us--we had the cabin and its kitchen, the outdoor shower (loved it!), and lots of space. We enjoyed milking the goats and having them visit our camp, playing with the chicks, and the sky with all of its stars. While it was a very hot weekend, we took advantage of the creek nearby. It's a beautiful area that feels so far from Los Angeles, but is really very close. Gloria and Christian are passionate about their project and it feels great to be a part of it. They produce delicious products--we bought milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, and meat. Gloria gave us a sample of cajeta. It was all delicious! The only thing that proved a bit difficult was the portable toilet. All in all, we had a wondeful
My husband and I had a great stay here. The highlights of our stay were watching a mother goat and her new born babies who were literally born minutes before we walked up to the barn! We loved the heated floors in the cabin, it got really cold at night so this made the cabin so warm, slept great! We ordered the Taco Meal Kit for dinner, feeds 2 and is delivered fresh to the cabin, all the ingredients were incredible and the meat is from the farm, doesn't get much better than that! We also ordered some wild grown coffee beans, make sure you order off the Farm menu when you stay, adds so much to the experience! Also, make sure you make time to go in the Sauna on the property!
