SITE SPECIFIC: This large group site is for those who want a gathering of family members, friends or events.  This a quiet escape for those who want to experience the serenity of the outdoors yet with the comfort of a few amenities nearby.  The group site provides you with some shade of the beautiful Juniper trees along the base of the rocks.

ABOUT OUR Campground & LOCATION : The Needles District of Canyonlands National Park visitors center is only 1.5 miles away.  We are 1.5 hours from Arches and approximately 2 hours from Island in the Sky.  You do not need 4wd to get to our place.  Set up your own tent with a beautiful wide open view of the Needles "hoodoo" rocks and the Park only a stone's throw away. There is a bathhouse with warm showers and flush toilets.  There are several hiking trails in the area as well as bicycling & 4 wheel drive trails on BLM (public land).

This IS the Wild, Rustic, Dirty Desert, not for Everyone.  This is Camping & keep in mind this is a rugged camping experience not for the faint at heart. The desert is Hot in the summer and cold in the winter, the weather is Unpredictable and you May experience our Wild storms...Monsoon season runs from July-August which is amazing if you are into photography. Be sure to bring proper gear for the rain (if we get any).

You may hear coyotes, see spiders, experience the annoying desert gnats at certain times of the day during the hotter summer season. You will want to bring bug spray, but if you forgot we do sell it in our camp store. If you stay with us you will get the experience of desert camping, wild, raw and rugged. It is an amazing experience to be had, with beautiful views and the feeling of freedom that is hard to find in more civilized and populated locations.

The rocks nearby are kid friendly, great for climbing and taking amazing photos of our fantastic views and gorgeous sunsets.

Hipcamp messages are the best way to reach us.  We are off the grid with poor cell reception.

Messages are usually returned within 12 hours, however, during open hours you may not get an immediate response. THE BATHHOUSE : There is a Bathhouse with Showers and Flush Toilets. Showers are with a Token and must be purchased during store hours. The bathhouse is shared with other campers and gets dirty between daily cleanings, (especially during the high season) . We are surrounded by red dirt. Toilets get clogged, it happens in any public bathroom. It is cleaned everyday. The bathhouse is under renovation.

Beautiful site and had a wonderful camping trip. Very family friendly and enjoyed our peaceful quiet desert nights. My only suggestion is to make large group site sign more noticeable to others because many people walked directly through our site. Great hosts and felt like dispersed camping but with some basic facilities and a general store that was a hit for the kids.

Thank you Kimberly, I appreciate your feedback!! I am so sorry this happened to you. I don't believe it is a normal thing to happen to guests who stay in the group site as this is the first I've heard of this. I will be sure to communicate to not disturb other guests in occupied sites to climb the rocks as we have many places to go up that are not through other sites. Thank you again!! :-)

Awesome views, sunsets, star gazing, and very close to park entrance. Amber was super nice and accommodating, her camp store was well stocked with ice and pantry items. Would definitely visit again. Check out her sweet pottery for a souvenir!

My family absolutely LOVED our time at Needles Outpost. What a cool spot to camp! Easily the most interesting camping experience we’ve had to date.

We camped in the group camp site and it was so spacious and private. There are tons of trees that not only add shelter, shade, and a place to hang hammocks, but tons of charm and character! We were RIGHT next to beautiful red rock formations that look like a set from Star Wars. We could easily climb the rocks to get a better view of the gorgeous horizon and sunsets as well as stargaze.

Every night, the campsite was peaceful and quiet. The bathhouse was close by and the showers were warm (they were a little short due to the fact that they have to bring in their own water, so conservation is important). However, we were able to pause the shower while we soaped up and felt we had plenty of time to wash. Of course, you could always just buy more tokens form the store to increase the length of time.

When we checked in, we met Amber and Caleb (and their adorable kitties) at the store. Amber was very friendly and welcoming. We were pleased to see they have stocked plenty of food, toiletry, and camping items.

One night when my cousin wasn’t feeling well, Amber ran into us after hours outside of the store and opened it up just to give us ice and a special hydration drink for my cousin. She even let us use her phone when we were struggling to make a call over WiFi. She was extremely kind!

We were glad there was WiFi since we were out in the middle of nowhere. It’s not the best signal, but that’s to be expected when you’re in the middle of nowhere. Some of us were able to get signal on top of the rocks, however.

The beauty of this site is that it’s affordable and in one of the most picturesque spots in the country! It’s a little ways from Moab (1.5 hours) but worth the drive. It’s amazing how close we were to the Canyonlands Needles entrance. We couldn’t believe how lucky we were. We will definitely return back to Needles Outpost in the future!

Had a great time at the Needles outpost campground. It’s a great location for access to the south side of canyonlands. It’s also a great spot to watch the sunset.
