We arrived and were met by Hank , who gave us the rundown on the property and the available campsites. He got us a bit of firewood and kindling to complement what we brought from home, and we drove over to our site. We set up our tent and headed to a local store for some camp snacks. After dinner, we got a little fire going, got our camp chairs, and broke out the snacks (and a lovely cigar for me). It was an amazing evening!
Now, for the review…Hank was friendly and informative…a great host! Unfortunately for us, Aissa was not there, so we’ll have to meet her next time. The property was beautiful, and the campsite we selected was well-maintained with some beautiful trees (including one right outside the window of our tent…what a view!). Our campsite was surrounded by fields, so we had complete privacy. The only minor drawback was the sound of nearby traffic, but I’ve yet to find a campsite where this isn’t a thing. It wasn’t overly loud and didn’t impact our experience at all. There were facilities available (such as a washroom), but we didn’t use them. We bring our own privy tent and camp toilet, so we didn’t need them.
Unfortunately, we only had one night to spend, but it was great. I would definitely recommend Aissa and Hank’s property to any future Hipcamper!

I had a lovely three night stay on Aissa and Hank’s property! When we arrived, they were there to welcome us and give us a tour and let us know about our camping options. We were the only campers staying that weekend so they were happy to let us pick our spot and got a fire pit moved for us so we could stay local to our spot for the most part. Their barn and land is gorgeous, and they were equipped with helpful items for campers far beyond what we expected when booking our stay. Aissa and Hank themselves were both very kind and welcoming and made us feel very safe and comfortable. They were around if we needed anything but did not make us feel hovered over and did not interrupt our privacy whatsoever. We had a very sweet and slow weekend, exactly what we were looking for and needed! We would definitely come back and enjoy another weekend here.

Everything was perfect! Aissa and Hank are outstanding, gracious hosts. Starting with a golf cart tour of their property really helps to decide where you want to set up and ask questions. After choosing a convenient spot, both Aissa and Hank are helpful with anything you may need. Bathroom was spotless, very well taken care of property all around. I hope to return to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and peaceful natural surroundings. The barn looks like a great venue for a party or celebration, with plenty of space to park and play in the beautiful backyard. What a terrific find! Thank you so much for your hospitality!

So I booked this stay for my partner who needed a place to spend the weekend near work. So this is second hand information but here’s what he told me: the place is actually quite small and near railroad tracks, so it was pretty noisy for camping. He did not love the nearby town of Decatur, but then again he’s from the west coast so it’s all a bit different and a matter of perspective. I’m sure it’s lovely as a rustic wedding venue and perhaps if you have a trailer to reduce the noise.

I stopped here in my Tacoma, which has an Alu-Cab camper. I rolled in late and easily found a spot to park and camp. I was asleep in minutes. It was perfect!

incredible - highly recommend! the land is beautiful, the barn is great, the hosts are amazing..no reason not to go :) my pup and I enjoyed a peaceful stay with lots of room to hangout. Aissa and Hank were so accommodating and kind. the bathroom was really nice, an indoor full space - i appreciated this after much time on the road and at traditional campsites. absolutely recommend this site!

We loved the country setting, the 1912 barn. It was perfect for our overnite stay. The hosts were extremely accommodating as we arrived late due to road closure on I-44 in Missouri that lasted for hours.

Alissa former public school educator administrator and Hank former hot air balloon pilot were outstanding hosts. We shared experiences and I and my dog were made to feel very welcome. The barn was hosting a wedding and hosts made sure campers and wedding folks were happy and assured there event would as they dreamed would happen. I highly recommend tent camping here

The setting was lovely! I was there in early April, and the grass was beautiful, and the trees were in bloom.
The 1912 barn is rustic and fabulous!
The hosts were super accommodating, and invited me to take shelter in the barn while I was camping there.

What a great spot for camping! We had a great time exploring the paths, enjoying a campfire, and seeing so many stars. I would recommend this spot to anyone passing through, or anyone who might be looking to book multiple spots for a get together. It's great!

We recently stayed at this charming barn and it was absolutely perfect for my needs. Although the bedding and seatings were not well-appointed for an ideal night stay, the hosts were incredibly accommodating, ensuring everything was in place for a comfortable experience.

Alissa and Hank are kind and generous hosts who offer a quiet rural camping experience. The facilities are as advertised and of a high quality. . My wife and I camped there for 2 nights while we explored President Lincoln's legacy in Springfield. I would strongly recommend the site.

What a romantic, serene place the 1912 Barn is! Aissa and Hank are generous and kind, which makes this site top notch. Surrounded by corn and soybeans, the grounds are well maintained and offer plenty of space to spread out and explore. The pictures can’t quite capture all the beauty of this place. Our reactive dog was calm and enjoyed the visit. Our personal Starlink had the best service we’ve seen so far. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again.
