Site 7 - Cascade River Retreat
Camping here for one night was great! It was enjoyable to walk down to the river and hang out in the sand and sun! It was very quiet as we were the only campers for the night! The portable potty was nice to have, smelled clean, and was well-kept! At the campsite, there was lots of space for our dog to roam with a long leash, and we were able to take her off when playing in the river water.

Stayed two nights! Great property.
- We stayed at campsite 6, which was in the “middle” of the drive-up campsites. 1-4 are the least private sites, but closest to the bathroom. 7-9 were definitely more private but further from bathroom/river access.
- Wood for sale, $5/bundle, decent cell reception (Verizon) and easy access to the river.
-the walk-in sites would be great for a group looking to book a few sites all together!

We booked Campsite 7 because it was described as the more private site. This was our dog’s first camping experience, so we wanted some extra space away from other campers. There was only one other couple there during our stay, and they happened to be at the site right next to ours.
While we weren’t completely tucked away out of sight, they were distant enough that we still felt like we had our own space and privacy.
The property itself was really well maintained, and all the sites were clearly marked, which made everything easy to navigate. My favorite part of the stay was how close we were to the river — we took the river path during the day, and it was absolutely gorgeous.
We had originally booked for two nights but ended up only staying for one night and two days due to an unplanned event. We really wished we could have stayed for the entire time because it was such a beautiful and peaceful spot.
I can definitely see this place becoming very active and popular with families during the peak summer season. Overall, it was a great experience and we’d love to come back!

Site 7 - Cascade River Retreat
Friendly hosts. Didn't interact much but lots of waves and smiles. Assume Heather and her mom? Close enough to the Cascade River to hear it, and just a short walk to it but no view of the river from drive in site. We were the first campers of the season and they weren't yet in the full swing of things. There was some tree clearing and junk car hauling activities going on during our stay. Looks as though they have plans to double the size of the campground. Expect in June the experience would be different. Most camping sites are in open areas and close together with only two being semi private in terms of being able to see your neighbors in full view. Was quiet when we were there so can't speak to what it is like when full. They do have dogs (yellow lab and pit bull) and are dog friendly as others have mentioned but they were quiet. Pit toilet was clean and they were working on a solar powered light outside of it (bring your headlamp after dark). As others have mentioned, we didn't see where you could get water but we had our own. They do have small bundles of wood for sale, we brought ours. There is a two sided fire "pit" with a flip up, widely spaced grill. Plenty of flat areas for tent or vehicle dependent camping. Wouldn't suggest any long/tall campers given tight quarters and narrow, one way roads. As they say, follow Google maps. It was still a bit confusing once up the driveway on which way to go (harder at night). Will try them again later in season.

Site 6 - Cascade River Retreat
Since 2022, I have been here multiple times, but I will not return after my last stays events. On October 6th around 5 pm PST, my spouse and I were walking back from the river on the trail with our bassethound dog. My dog was wearing her collar and walking by our side as shes trained to do so. We also had her leash on hand. We came into contact with the hosts parents who also reside on the property. They were coming out of the woods onto the trail and their pitbull mix dog ran up to us. They expressed concern that they didn't know other dogs were down by the river. We didn't understand what that meant at the time. Their pitbull mix dog didn't have a collar or harness and we didn't visibly see the owners have a leash on hand. The dogs were smelling and my bassethound was wagging her tail. Within, a few minutes their dog attacked our dog. The attack lasted around five minutes. Their dog wouldn't stop until my husband and I intervened. And the hosts farther told us to grab our dogs collar which my spouse was finally able to do without potentially getting bit by their dog. Their dog left a deep gash in my dogs ear along with a second bite in the same ear. The hosts mother, Kathy expressed how terrible she felt and provide us with a disinfect that evening. We left quickly the following morning. The attack occurred 5 days ago and my dogs wound is still healing. *I would like to point out that Kathy and her husband did NOT warn us that their dog was aggressive.*

Great site! Everything you could want for a campsite: fire pit, nearby firewood, space for multiple tents and a couple cars, and a quick walk to a nearby stream with beautiful views of the mountains in the morning.

We’ve stayed at Cascade River Retreat before and we will stay there again. Absolutely lovely as always! Site 7 was nice, it seemed a little more tucked away than the other sites we’ve stayed in. Plenty of flat space for two tents.

Very easy to book and find! Perfect “base camp” for exploring North Cascades. It was great that we could buy firewood right on site.

The site felt private and spacious; the walk from the car with the help of wagons weren’t bad at all! Firewood was available for purchase in a self-pay station. The only slight negative is that it was very hard to find the potable water station; we walked around the entire campground but couldn’t find it. (We could’ve messaged the host though, it was just too late at night so we filled at the river and purified the water instead.) This site is the closest walk from the car, but if you like being closer to the river, sites 15-17 are next to the river bed and looked cute.

This place was a great camping site. The camping spots are spacious enough to set up 2-3 tents (4 people each sized tents). The bathroom on site is decente enough. I highly appreciated the self serve firewood option in the middle of the whole camping ground, provided one pays. Also, the place is secluded en quiet enough to be completely dark and silent at night (my party and I slept like babies at night). Lastly, the walkable path to the river is close and the river is nice enough even to be able to take a swim, which we did! We swam in October on a sunny day. Yes, I would 100% recommend booking this site and we’ll absolutely be coming back in the future.

Great spot, flat campsite with nearby super clean outhouse and the river is beautiful and only steps away! We chose a walk in site which was really private — easy short walk from the car. I have stayed here before and will again!

Camping right near the river was incredible. After day-hikes or in the mornings, we spent plenty of time in chairs right off the water, playing chess or looking at the stars. While there were other sites nearby, the campsite felt very private with ample space.

Site 7 was great! More secluded than the other sites. Campground was clean and so was the bathroom (vault toilet). Tp was provided which was great. Directions were clear to the site. Heather came by to check on everyone which was kind. River is beautoful, access trail was clearly marked with a wide path. Dog friendly campground which we love.

We spent a few nights here car camping. The sites are close together, but they were not full during our stay, so it was very quiet. Nice walk to the river. We caught a glimpse of the northern lights and did some astrophotography by the water one night. Everything is well-maintained and Heather was a great, responsive host.

Had a lovely stay at campsite 12! The whole campground is stunning and just a short walk to the cascade river which was just beautiful to watch the sunset at.
Heather was super responsive when we got a little lost on the trip up, provided us with a propane fire pit (due to current fire bans), and even recommended close by spots to fish. My dog Berry is very anxious around people but she was able to calm herself and roam around the river bank and trek through small streams which she loved. Campsite 12 and some of the sites just behind the river are perfect for those with anxious dogs.
Note on location: google led us a bit astray with the coordinate location, but after just searching cascade river retreat into maps it got us right to it!
Also love that just minutes away you can fish right where the cascade meets the skagit. The hatchery is only minutes away too!

Great base camp to see North Cascades. This spot was very private and quiet. Loved exploring the creek. Very dog friendly and so were the main areas of the park. Highly recommend this site! Heather was very helpful as well!
