Tempest Ranch

We decided last minute to take a quick camping trip.
Dwaynes property listing covered the things we were looking for! Secluded tent sights with a swimming hole!
Upon arriving our expectations were beyond exceeded.
Dwaynes hospitality somehow outshined his more than beautiful property.
We didn’t add wood to our trip but decided to try to add some prior to arriving and Dwaynes response was “it’s already there and ready to light!”
Dwayne drove us to our site(3) and then proceeded to light our fire for us as well as grabbing a bucket of water just incase of any emergency.
He shared future ideas for his property with us and treated us very well. I almost couldn't believe he hadn’t been doing this type of thing for a prolonged period of time!
We will most definitely be return guests and can’t wait to see what our host has in store for the future.
If it wasn’t for his hospitality I would have kept my review to myself as it’s a small slice of heaven I’d like to have as my own!

We camped out at the Tempest ranch for 2 nights and 3 days and had a blast. I thoroughly enjoyed jumping into the swimming hole and just chilling at the campsite- don't worry the water's good. If you are looking for more a eventful visit, there are plenty of things to do around which you can check before you go but I personally enjoyed just lounging around the camp with my friends. Dwayne worked really hard to make sure we had everything we needed and is a very nice host with an awesome dog- Duke. Will definitely go back again.

Our Tempest Ranch campsite was feet from a great swimming hole and there were beautiful horses in the field across the stream. Dwayne went out of his way to prep the site and ensure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. He even came out during a rain/wind/storm to lash down some of our gear. If you're looking for a peaceful, secluded spot minutes from Watkins Glen then Dwayne is your guy.

Dwayne has a great piece of property with great views. I would not change a single thing about his current setup aside from maybe some stone for a parking pad of some kind. He did mention that that was a work in progress. The personal swimming hole literally a few feet from our campsite was sublime and way nicer than I had originally anticipated. Waking up to the fog over the swimming hole with the horses wandering aimlessly in the background was wonderful in so many ways. Dwayne himself was a great, gracious host with some fantastic stories. Honestly, 10 out of 10 would camp there again.

Dwayne was super friendly and accommodating! He was there to greet us as we pulled in and explained the lay of the land. We had a group of 5 and set up comfortably under a large tree next to the swimming hole (we had 2 tents, 1 camper/trailer and 2 vehicles). It began to storm on the day we were out exploring Watkins Glen and Dwayne was nice enough to tie down our tents and secure the things that had blown over. The site is quiet and at night you can hear the resident frogs :) There is a small store down the road for basic items.

Our stay at Tempest Ranch was amazing! Our host Dwayne was incredibly welcoming and happy to show us around the campsite. Swimming hole, (optional) firewood, and nearby horses added to a great camping weekend. Definitely will stay here again next time i go to Watkins Glen.

My wife and I stayed at Tempest ranch for a night on our way to Michigan from New England. Dwayne, the host, was very attentive, welcoming, and joyful. This place is basically everything you would want in a good Hipcamp. The site we stayed at was fairly private, right on the edge of a small pine forest on the property. Dwayne built up a ready to go fire for us and laid down some hay for an extra cushy spot to pitch our tent. There is plenty to explore on and around his property. There is also a small store within walking distance that sells beer and some essentials which is huge in this area. We also have a dog that was very welcome on Dwayne’s ranch. This is highly appreciated given that camping with a dog can tough. The only downside was that there was no picnic table or seating at our campsite but I think Dwayne is working on that. It was something like his fourth week doing this. I expect that this place will be even better next time we visit. Overall I highly recommend it.
