If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
I can't say enough positive things about Sheila and the treehouse. If you're looking for the most magical place in the Adirondacks, you've found it. The property is gorgeous and secluded, close to Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, and Paul Smiths. Waking up in the canopy is as wonderful as it sounds. There is a tree swing and even a porch in the treehouse! It was nice and cool in the summer but there's a beautiful stove that I assume will keep it nice and toasty in winter! The screened-in cookhouse is just a stone's throw from the treehouse. It has everything you'll need (pots, pans, cutlery, french press, cooler, etc.), and if the weather is bad, you have an indoor cooking stove that makes everything super easy. The bathroom is in the building next door and is clean and well-kept. Everything about our stay, from speaking with Sheila beforehand, to the delicious, family-made maple syrup as a welcome gift, to our time in the treehouse was incredible. I can't wait to come back, would absolutely recommend!
Not only did the tree house offer a fun and cozy place to stay, but the property was magical. Sheila and Bob have carved trails that offer an afternoon of wandering, with hidden gems throughout their backyard (including a lean-to and sugar shack). We appreciated Sheila and Bob for their spirit and kindness, and loved learning about how they cultivated both. It was a chilly weekend- the heated blanket kept us warm at night, and the warm bathroom came much appreciated. Lastly, one cannot leave without a taste of Bob's delicious maple syrup!
Our stay at the magical treehouse was everything we hoped for and more! It was private, peaceful, and unique! Upon our arrival we were greeted by Chrissy and she made us feel very welcome and made sure we were comfortable. Although we did not get to meet Sheila and Bob because they were away, they still communicated with us and were very helpful and informative! Everything was so nicely put together and clean. I loved every minute of being here and exploring this beautiful land. We will definitely be returning as I think I found my little escape! Highly recommend staying here!
Magical mountain getaway!
Sheila and Bob's treehouse is one of the most magical and unique places we've ever stayed! Not only are they the sweetest hosts (we ended up just hanging out and chatting for most of the day!), but everything was so clean and comfortable that we felt right at home. The bathroom is super close by (in the main building right next to the treehouse), the screened in cooking area is so cozy, and the fire pit would be great for summer/fall nights making smores! Plus you're pretty close to both Saranac Lake and Lake Placid if you're down for a little drive. They built the treehouse themselves in the 80's and it looks like something right out of Treehouse Masters! Plus, their super sweet puppy Denali brought us all of the sticks we could have ever wanted. We will absolutely be coming back whenever we're in the area.
Truly a magical experience!
We enjoyed our 5 Wedding Anniversary here! Perfect “Wood” Gift! Everyone was so friendly and made our experience Amazing!!! We will be returning and sharing such a great experience. Temps at night dropped down but we were warm with the space heater and electric blanket. Beautiful lighting in the treehouse and decor make it a unique visit. The grounds are beautiful and easy to explore!
Charming glamp getaway
Sheila and Bob were very welcoming and thoughtful hosts. They provided firewood, recommendations for local activities as well as some much appreciated history of the area. While the treehouse wasn't as isolated as we expected, it was quiet and comfortable except the inevitability of indoor mosquitoes. The property is quite extensive and contains multiple walking trails and points of interest. The utensils available at the cookout area are limited, so make sure to bring your own. Dishwashing here is a real camping experience! p.s. this location has other camping options such as a private lean-to
Magical indeed, book it now
If this tree house is open, I would HIGHLY recommend you book it NOW! It’s beyond magical, the hosts are amazing people and the tree house is built by them. You feel safe and comfy in there. One of the best places we have stayed. I can’t believe this exist. The property is amazing, very clean. The treehouse guest have their own private area with kitchen and bon fire. Homemade Maple Syrup that rivals any syrup I have ever had. Book it or loose it.
*note, the hosts are very clean, good vibes and follow good practice in COVID-19 safety procedures for everyone’s safety. It made me feel very secure to be in this magical property.
My wife and I can’t wait to come back again. 🌳🏡❤️
The property is beautiful and the treehouse makes for a unique camping experience. It was not as private as we thought, though, as the treehouse is very close to the host's home/workshop space, and there were several other renters on the property as well. Also, be prepared for cold nights. We went in August and the temperature dropped to 40 degrees with no heat in the treehouse. There is a wood burning stove inside, but you can't use it.
Amazing, enchanted getaway!
It was amazing! Every aspect of our treehouse stay was magical. We loved the treehouse itself with all of its charming features and attention to detail. The hosts were just wonderful, giving us privacy while also being available to chat and help as needed. They recommended some great ideas such as kayaking at Lake Meacham and Osgood River, Hiking the beautiful property following the signs and beautiful hand painted map. We also loved our own private cookhouse and fire pit. The whole property is lit with beautiful mason jars full of fairy lights and beautiful wicker encased string lights making for a magic feeling at night. We Also purchased several bottles of their delicious maple syrup for friends and family. Sheila also suggested that we stop at the Noon Mark Diner on our way home to pick up pies and they were Delish! We have recommended the Magical Treehouse to friends and family and we can’t wait to go back ourselves!!
