Unforgettable Treehouse in the ADKs
Sheila and Luke were incredibly hospitable and helped make this truly unique experience all the more memorable and appreciable.
The Treehouse feels private and comfortable without being isolated and too rustic. Everything was as appeared in the photos, with tons of books, board games, and beautiful decor without being kitschy. The mattress was some kind of memory foam I think... slept like a rock! And the overhead string and star lights set the mood perfectly.
The bathroom facility down in the main building is as would be expected in any small home (shower, toilet, sink, etc). Hot water was immediate, towels were included as were a few toiletries. Bring your own toothbrush, of course!
The screened cookhouse was easy and lots of fun with the propane gas dual-burner cooktop. All cookware, plates, mugs and cups, and silverware is provided. The fridge held enough for a long weekend, and the farm-fresh eggs they offered were sublime.
We did not make use of the campfire site, since it rained for half the weekend we were there, but it looked cozy and well-stocked. Also, we were too exhausted from our hike. Maybe next time!
There's also a dedicated parking spot for Treehouse guests which was also appreciated.
Last but not least, the property is fairly substantial in size, offering plenty of short walks about.
And, don't forget to get some of their truly world-class maple syrup. You won't find stuff this good at your local farmer's market, I promise you! Great gift idea, too.
