Warm. welcoming. safe yet&secluded.
From the very moment we booked our stay Bear was in constant contact. He was very responsive and cooperative. We arrived to a warm welcome from Bear and Bella (sweet old chocolate lab). He asked us about our trip, gave us a Map of the property and urged us to get ahold of him if we needed anything at all. We drove down his massive property till we found our perfect spot. He has well over 20 sites sprawling across his massive property. Bear came and dropped off a water bucket for our fire, told us some fun info about the property and again encouraged us to reach out if we needed anything.
He has 3 porter johns across the property and they were SPARKING CLEAN! The camp sites were spaced out to make you feel secluded yet safe. We had a great time and so did the other people staying on the property. I will defiantly be coming back. He is a great host!
Wonderful way to unwind and enjoy nature at it’s finest. Very close to Traverse City. Gracious host.
Peaceful, quiet, convenient, great
This was our third visit to The House of Bear, and every visit has been absolutely wonderful. Bear takes excellent care of the property and is extremely helpful and kind. We sure will be back again. We visited the Leelanau Peninsula and Traverse City on this trip, both great destinations.
Bear is an amazing host! His camp he’s created is unique and truly captures the feel of being outdoors in the best area of Michigan!
We came back for more. This time we camped under the ‘Old Oak’ tree and it was pure peace and rest. Hope to be back next year too.
This was such a perfect site! The site itself was beautiful, we saw chipmunks, ducks, an egret, and an owl. Also, it was located just a short distance from the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Torch Lake, which was convenient. The host was so friendly and helpful, too.
Peaceful, beautiful, gorgeous views
Bear is a wonderful host, and his farm is nothing but pure beauty. This is the second time that we have stayed, and we enjoyed it just the same as the first. We are hoping to get one more trip in before winter. It's an easy choice to return to The House of Bear. I was especially touched that Bear gave me a gift because it was my birthday! :)
The House of Bear is a great place to camp. The host is very hospitable and went out of his way to accommodate our family during our visit. Location is close to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear, etc. Excellent experience and we will definitely be back!
