We absolutely loved our time at the Shallot Chalet. Our family of 4 slept comfortably (the bed was very comfy and ample room for 2 kids in sleeping bags.) We made good use of the wood burning stove on windy nights. Cook shack was well stocked and fresh eggs were laid out for us. Our daughter spent hours adding to the art wall and our son had fun roaming the property and chopping wood. Hands down best bathroom (with a view!) our whole week camping on Whidbey. Austin kept in touch but respected our privacy. Highly recommend.

Staying here was the most wonderful and renewing experience. The Yurt was comfy and homey. The amenities were perfect 🤩. Bruce, the yellow tabby welcomed us to the property. The cozy nights by the fire, star gazing were most memorable. We took a drive around the island, ate on the waterfront and had some Great coffee at Whidbey Coffee. If you want to have a marvelous time then book your trip to Yurtlandia, and stay at the Shallot Chalet.

The Bird House was a wonderful place to spend a couple of nights!! We saw so many beautiful birds right out the window, and felt right at home in the cozy space, which heats up quickly with the wood stove. We really enjoyed exploring the records, games, and property. Visiting some local hiking trails that Austin recommended and cooking up some foraged mushrooms with provided eggs in the kitchen trailer made for a perfect getaway. The composting toilet was really well designed and built too- if you've never used one before, don't worry, it's infinitely nicer than a honey bucket! It is obvious Austin put a lot of time and effort into making this place a beautiful retreat and we were very grateful to enjoy it.

Shallot Chalet was great! Really peaceful and we got to see a ton of birds coming and going. The yurt was wonderful, very clean and spacious. The wood stove works great and made for a really cozy night. And the kitchen shack was nice to have, we were able to make some sandwiches and coffee. Donna the chicken also hung out with us all day. Definitely planning on coming back!

We had a fantastic trip! The birds outside every morning were lovely to wake up to and the reference sheet to identify them passed a lot of time. The room itself was very cozy even in the rain. The lack of plumbing is definitely made up for by the chicken, indoor fireplace, and stocked food trailer. Very entertaining to wander around the area too! Would definitely recommend to any couple!

I stayed here with my family of four + dog and we had a great time. The tiny home is a great flex space and warms quickly on those cold nights. The cook shack is well equipped and the on-site trash cans, water, and clean portapotty made for a great spring trip on the island.

How simply beautiful this space is! My partner & I absolutely loved the yurt and everything that came with it. Befriended the chickens Muff & Donna; they were super friendly as well as the family dog Pepper :) If you get the chance to, buy a few of the fairy fire sticks. Those were gorgeous to watch. thank you again for everything, Austin!

Even though it’s close to home, it was the perfect glamping getaway. Easily accommodated our large dog and our toddler. Lots of extra and thoughtful touches! Solar power, heat, a comfy bed and some cute chickens make for a fantastic evening.

What a delightful stay! The space was super clean and cozy with so many wonderful, artful touches. It’s a great place to disconnect, take a break and exhale. The bird feeders brought hummingbirds and woodpeckers to the window in the morning. The outhouse was cleaner and more comfortable than most bathrooms I’ve been in. Given that I stayed mid-winter, I made great use of the wood burning stove - really appreciated how well stocked the wood pile was (and the stove was prepped for my first fire, which was so thoughtful). It was just lovely and I look forward to a visit in the summer!

Austin’s place was the perfect way to disconnect and relax. He was great host who made everything easy, from check-in to getting a fire started in wood stove. The yurt has everything you need for a warm and cozy stay, and there are so many nice touches that enhance the experience. The kitchen is a convenient addition, too. Highly recommend Yurtlandia and look forward to visiting again soon.

Stayed at The Bird House. If you're looking for a quaint, rustic setting with the essentials, this spot is for you. Comfortable queen bed and hot wood burning stove. Turn table and records are a great touch. Bring flashlights/headlamps and batteries as a backup to the cabin's solar power. Was fun to cook dinner in the camper. Austin was very accommodating and good communication.

We loved staying at The Bird House! A warm and cozy space with all the bird watching your heart desires. We spent our trip playing games, listening to records, cooking delicious food, looking at the bird books, and watching all of the birds. It was so quiet and peaceful. Just what we needed! There is a cooking RV that has everything you will need to cook amazing food. Stove, pots and pans, spices, fresh eggs from the chickens, etc. Everything is run off of solar energy which is wonderful! It's so private and sweet. Austin is an amazing host and was super helpful. Highly recommend! We will be back!

Came with my husband, 2 year old and pup for a weekend "anniversary" getaway. Easy to get to, but still nice and peaceful. Clean, homey accomodations (and one of the most 'pleasant' outhouses I've ever been in). Our dog LOVED playing with the owner's dog. Owner very friendly and hospitable, but definitely not hovering. Plenty of privacy. Great location for Deception Pass. I would absolutely come back...when it's 20 degrees warmer. If you don't keep the fire up it gets pretty chilly in there at night (I think our weather was in the high 30s, low 40s), which would have been perfectly fine if we didn't have a little one with us.
Highlight: record player in the yurt made for a wonderful dance party.

What a lovely stay! The yurt was very cozy with a wood-burning stove, comfortable bed, and relaxing chairs for kicking back and reading. Pepper the dog was a total sweetie pie, and the two friendly chickens toured through the campsite to say hello every day. Kitchen trailer was perfect for cooking up meals. Fridge is on solar and turns off over night, so be sure to bring a cooler and ice if you have perishables. Beautiful property and also a short drive into town if you need supplies.

Wonderful spot! We stayed a week. Really enjoyable off grid amenities. Well built and furnished yurt, outhouse, and separate kitchen. All are very cute and cozy feeling. Austin And Pepper welcomed us and gave us a quick tour and then let us to relax and feel at home. Second night had a fairly large windstorm and lots of rain, the wood stove was very cozy and helped take the chill off, but we’re glad we brought plenty warm blankets as the stove will burn through wood quickly, but was well stocked with wood.
In the Covid Era we felt that things were very clean and sanitary. Composting toilet and outhouse were stocked with proper utensils and hand sanitizer.
We brought our reactive dog with us and let Austin know ahead of time. Austin was understanding and pepper was very well behaved when our dog would try and engage. Very sweet dog. She’s a very sweet dog, and came in to let us know it was morning after our first night.
10/10 would definitely stay again. Very comfortable stay and recommended for anyone looking to join the yurt club.

Austin's yurt was very cozy, the wood burning stove really warms the place up! I loved the pine shaving toilet, so cute and eco-friendly. We enjoyed hanging out with Austin around the campfire and learning about how he is building the place up!

Austin has an awesome property and it is a great get away from the city! The yurt is well furnished and warm, the bed was very comfortable, and Pepper the dog is a great perk! He even sent us home with some squash from the garden. Can’t wait to come back!

A cozy spot to visit & have for a home-base on Whidbey Island. Though we were mainly out & about exploring, it was lovely having both an outdoor & indoor fire option and a cozy bed to come home to at night. Plus - Pepper the dog is so sweet!!

Best Hipcamp I've ever booked!!! A friend and I came up from Portland for a night and our stay at the Shallot Chalet was everything we had hoped for and more. Austin's dad greeted us as we pulled onto the property and we quickly became attached to Pepper, the friendliest dog ever. We were given a tour of the Shallot, the kitchen, and introduced to the other pets. Plenty of firewood and kindling was provided, as well as cooking basics in the kitchen! The outhouse was swanky-er than we had expected too! To say the least, we LOVED our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the “Shallot Chalet”. The yurt itself has a rustic charm and feels quite cozy. We were greeted by the hosts father who was always kind, welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. There is a dog on the property (Pepper) who our dog loved to play fetch with during the day. It can get cold at night so start the furnace early and bring extra blankets. Would totally recommend others to stay at this hipcamp!

This was the perfect getaway with my sister! The yurt was so cute and so was the outside area where we had fires going at night. The first night it started to rain, and the sound on the yurt was amazing! The owners were very sweet. Their dog, Pepper, was one of the highlights of the trip! Would totally recommend!

This spot was so much better than I could have ever expected, truly a magical spot! , The yurt was spacious, bed was sooo comfy, and cute little fire pit with a great outhouse/restroom. Beautiful area all around, wish we would’ve stayed longer!

What a lovely place. The only thing I didn't like was that I had to leave. Could have stayed for may more days. I loved the wood stove, comfy chairs, pristine out house and Pepper the dog. Will certainly return for another break from the city. Thanks Austin!
