We had to cancel at the last moment due to a sudden medical issue. We immediately contacted Bertie and gave her the bad news. She was so understanding and sympathetic. To our surprise we were notified that our funds were returned the next day! Bless you Bertie!
I was able to park my van in the shade by the chicken coop. The hens kept up a friendly chatter that I enjoyed. The hosts were generous and welcoming. I could walk in to town just a few blocks away. Mostly I enjoyed the garden, picked a few tasty berries. The swinging seat in the shade was a wonderful place to settle down with a cool drink and the sunset was glorious!
What a kind and warm collective of folks!! My 20mo old and I stayed overnight, and the host/s were EVER so thoughtful to provide anything we needed. (We car camp and I pack well, so it was moreso directions and convo).
My kiddo •loves• animals, smelling flowers and eating berries… it was like the farm was made for them!! SO many berries, chickens to “bawk-bawk” at, and GORGEOUS flowers to check out and smell!! Genuinely felt like an old school Farm B & B yard to explore🥰
Things were arranged where you can either meander a bit, or have a mini tour if you’ve the time to chat. Otherwise it’s a kind be as you are space ((make sure you honk to “announce” yourselves, and the correct number of times as a special nod😌))
Be wary of Apple Maps—they tried routing me across the road and down a ways #boo. Google was correct… but also just check for the Large and Beautifully painted mail box and you’re at the right spot! The house is closer to the road so it’s not like you need to worry about finding the ‘wrong’ driveway — been there!😅😮💨
We are *very* much looking forward to another go-around next year when we’re back in the area visiting family. I live in Chicago now, and am thrilled for a safe, affirming pastoral place to rest our head and land when we need some ‘gentle roughing’ in the great PNW.

Two Doors Down
I enjoyed my stay at the Chicken Ranch! The location is in a beautiful valley surrounded by wooded hills, great for watching the clouds roll through and enjoying the sunset. The farm itself is whimsical and a little wild, with paths through flowering clovery fields and along berry lined fences. I was in a small camper which fit perfectly in the RV site. I had the place to myself and loved the peaceful surroundings, with plentiful birdsong and gentle farm sounds in the background. Being mid-summer, there was some dust but I had an outdoor camping mat that worked great. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Klickitat Prairie Park is an awesome park nearby for playing with the dog, followed by Mexican food from Nachos restaurant. Great experience at this new and charming Hipcamp. Definitely recommend!
