Quileute Coastal River Front Campin

The site was great. River was really close and when we were there very private. Given how busy the walks around the parks can be it was nice to actually get away. Highly recommend.

Quiet camping

We stayed two nights in the meadow site. It was a beautiful place and very quiet. There is access to the river via a short walk. Due to a health issue, I have limited mobility and was able to easily get to where the road meets the river area. I couldn’t go to the river due to the loose river rocks. There is a CLEAN porta potty that’s easy to access from all sites. It was a wonderful experience.

Secluded camping spot

We really loved the campsite. There was plenty of space between the sites, so it felt private and comfortable. We enjoyed the use of the picnic table and it was nice to have a place to use the restroom close by. The area had plenty of trees, but also enough open space to let in the sun as well. It is close to a bunch of beautiful beaches which made it easy to visit them.

Communication is important

I think the host needs to be more clear that the camp sites are NOT river side as stated in the name. There needs to be more clear signage at the campground to indicate where it is located. Rochelle needs to be more specific in her directions if the sites are assigned. There was no communication from the host even after I reached out to her. There was confusion with another camper about who had which site, and the host was not on site to help resolve the issue and there was no cell service to reach her. It was a frustrating first experience. We left without camping, but were provided with a refund.

Rochelle and Kelsey were great! We had a slight mix up with our camp site and they handled it like pros getting us all sorted out and taken care of. The sight is peaceful and well maintained. And the portable bathroom wasn’t stinky!

This made for a nice base camp to explore nearby beaches and trails. Campsites are not actually along the river as photos may suggest, but it is a short and easy walk through another Hipcamp site to access. Since there were only a small number of campsites at this location, it felt quiet and semi-private, especially compared to the adjacent property. It would be an awesome site for a mid-sized group to book the whole place. There is a nice open field for games, and for kids and dogs to run around. Rochelle was quick to respond to my questions. I'd stay here again if/when I return to the area.

My partner and I stayed one night in the field of this Hipcamp. The area was large, open and a great place to view the stars. The portapotty was in good condition. A short walk down the campground driveway led past the other campsites and to the river. The river area campsites looked very nice. The river frontage was ample and the water only ankle to knee deep and warm. We watched bald eagles fishing and a lone deer cross to the opposite bank. You can tell this campground is a work in progress. We were hoping for a little quiet by the river after a week of touring the Olympic NP, but one of the owners spent a couple hours running a lawn mower. While there were only 4 or 5 other couples staying at the campground, I was a little confused as to why they were all placed at neighboring campsites as it was clear specific sites had not been reserved. Overall, this was a very nice campground and the host was very friendly, although maybe a little unorganized.

The river is beautiful and for about an hour there was nobody down there but us. The porta potty was clean. I was hoping for some quiet and wildlife during the last day of our trip and we got it here. Rochelle was really nice.

Somewhat misleading

If you like secluded this campground is that. It has the potential to be a really nice place. When we booked we chose a riverside spot but were told that wasn’t available after a refund wasn’t available leading me to believe it was full but we were the only people. In fact I didn’t see any river spots. The bordering campground Shanghai-La had the river spots. Therefore the listing didn’t seem accurate to me. This campground appeared to have 2 spots in the trees and a couple more in the grassy field. It had rained the prior two days so there was standing water and mud since none of the sites were rocked. With some rock, some leveling, removing low hanging branches and manicuring around the trees would do much to improve the campsites. There are absolutely no amenities so the high camp fee alone would prevent us from returning. We never did see the host but the host of the neighboring campground was around working on his place till late at night and he showed us where to park.

Wonderful place, friendly host!

Parked our RV under a tree in an open field. Rochelle brought us a fire ring and picnic table. Clean porta potty available for our use friendly neighbors great place for dogs with access to the river I would recommend!

Fantastic spot to camp/car camp! Very close to the river, that has a beautiful sunset. Also a very close drive to Forks, La Push, and Rialto Beach. The host is fantastic as well! Would highly recommend!!

Great place and friendly host! Quick walk to private beach access (through her husband’s hip camp site). Our kids had fun playing in the large open grass field and catching frogs at the river. We enjoyed the quiet and privacy.

while this campsite is beautiful i can not recommend it to anyone *the host did not send me directions to this campsite until after i had messaged her saying we her having trouble finding it. the coordinates on the listing do not lead to the campsite, but to a neighbors. *we ended up searching for 2 hours in the morning after being told we were camping in the wrong spot. the campsite itself was extremely hidden, you cannot even see it through the trees, and the directions are misleading, citing markers that aren’t there. *this listing is extremely misleading, the only truth being that it is a big grass field. it is NOT riverside. it is NOT private, the neighbor being just across the street like 40 feet away, and being woken up early in the morning by landscapers. *when the host finally came to the site, she was not receptive to what we had to say and did not even seem to feel bad about the situation. overall this was an extremely unpleasant camping experience completely at fault of the host and perhaps our not so great directional skills. i would however recommend her neighbors campsite. he was completely apologetic and attentive to us, even bringing us wood. his campsite is actually private and riverside, and much more peaceful than this field empty mole hole filled field. his campsite phone number is (360) 640-0602

This is a nicely kept private Campground that is in very close proximity to some of the epic Ocean beaches on the Olympic peninsula. Rialto Beach is just a few miles drive, and First, Second, and Third beaches in the La Push area are not much farther. There are some Riverfront camps right Along the Quillayute River, but we stayed up in the top end of the mowed grass field as we were in a larger rig (28 feet), and had our three cats on board who like to walk, but don’t like to be too close to any other people. It was perfect and peaceful and we really enjoyed our time here.

Had to bail on a noisy campground last minute and host was super welcoming and accommodating. Camp spots are large and spaced out, worked great for our anxious dog. Access to the river was amazing. Absolutely recommend. I think an earlier comment said to have 4x4 and I would also recommend that if it’s raining/muddy.

The property was beautiful but the 2 campsites that were accessible were not the easiest to get to. It was just muddy, of course, and we got stuck when we were trying to back into the spot. It was already dark when we finally made it. So we had to just sit there til morning when we could find some wood to help us get out of the mud… Like I said, it was beautiful property but it would have been a little better if the sites had gravel at least to drive out on and park on.

Great spot by the river!

Great quiet spot just steps away from the river. We were lucky enough to stay on the evening of the blue super moon and walked to the river at night. So amazing. We didn’t get to meet Rochelle in person, but her partner met us and helped us get settled. We’d definitely stay here again.
