North Cove was definitely a unique experience. We arrived at the site which was almost right on the beach. Unfortunately being near the ocean and the family camping next to us were the only things that saved this experience from being a total disaster. You can hardly even call the camp sites actual tent sites. There is no shelter to block the wind or anything to peg your tent in other than sand and crushed granite. You are surrounded by junk. There are tractor tires and people’s junk everywhere. Definitely not worth an hour and a half drive north of Astoria to stay at this place.

One of the most beautiful views to wake up to each morning and wonderful sounds of the waves to fall asleep to each night. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves and it was fantastic! Awesome spot and literally steps from the beach. My grandson loved it so much has asked to go back camping at the beach everyday since. Looking forward to a return trip in the near future!

It was so peaceful, tranquil, quiet, and secluded. It’s like we had the whole beach to ourselves. Next time we will stay for a week.

It was beautiful, right on the beach so you heard the waves crashing all day and night. They hand planted all these little shrubs which adds a nice green to the beach. We got the campsite on the end so we had a good amount of privacy, which I prefer when I’m camping. There’s a portajohn and fire pits on the property as well as tables and chairs and an umbrella so that’s nice. We just spent a few days on the beach drinking beer, how much better can it get? I’d go back again.

What a hidden gem of a campsite! Jaenette, camp host, led us to our campsite just three blocks from her cute little shop at North Cove just off Hwy 105. The campsite consists of a large, rocked / graveled landing (for campers / RVs) and beach area (for tent campers) adjacent and below. There were several other campers on the rocked landing while we were there, but there was ample room and plenty of firepits. The provided port-a-potty was stocked and well-maintained. The easy beach access was incredible. We loved being able to see our kids on the beach from the campsite, next to the campfire. We were fortunate to stay here during Fourth of July weekend and got to see some awesome fireworks over the beach, too. Thankful to Jaenette and Hipcamp for another fantastic family trip!

It was a beautiful location on the coast. It was a bit busy because of the holiday when we visited so things were a bit overcrowded. Some clear delineation of camping sites would go a long way. As would some clean up of surrounding area. Lots of rock piles and debris from. But just a little work on the site would take this spot from a 4 star to a 5 star camp site, easily. Hope to visit again on a less busy weekend and get a bit a privacy.

We went for the Fourth of July! It was less privacy than we had anticipated but we picked a busier weekend. We brought our own contained camper and had 2 other tents and one other camper in our party. The porter party was clean but for that bust of a weekend, a second one would have been beneficial. The area was rocky but there was places that were less rocky for tents. Plenty of firewood to burn & trails down to the beach. The view was amazing and we were very sheltered from the wind that’s to a little forest. It’s a “first come first serve” situation so I would recommend checking in early if you can. So much to do near here too! We threw our crab pots in at Tokeland Marina and caught our limit on steamer clams 2 days in a row at mile marker 16. Jeanette was a friendly host. A dog in our party got spooked from the fireworks and went missing and she genuinely cared and helped put the word out ❤️. (He was found the next day!) Over all, this camping experience was amazing and we will be back soon!

It was magical to wake up and see your own swath of beach just steps away. The campsite is pretty minimal, but set up nicely. And you just can’t beat the view. Plus, there’s fire allowed on the beach and our dogs loved playing.

I will come back when the camp sites are completed and have some privacy barriers. Fortunately I had an RV but it seemed like the tent campers near us were basically camping in a rocky parking lot shoulder to shoulder. The beach access was seriously amazing though. It feels like your own little slice of the beach where you can start a beach fire and run down to the waves.

This is a very special little place that's just hanging onto the Pacific Ocean! The campgound is small and private and the proceeds go towards helping build barriers to protect the beach from erosion.
It was amazeballs, y'all! Almost as soon as we had our tent up and took time to notice, I saw a whale spout and shouted for Chris to come look. We could see HUMPBACK WHALES breaching out in the water, right in front of us! I've loved humpbacks for years and years, so I was thrilled as could be!
Friday night we explored the beach and waited for the stars to come out. It was lovely! Dark skies and the ocean at our feet, what could be better?
Our site was steps from the beach, and spaced enough away from the others that it felt very private, and the beach itself is clean and sandy. We were prepared with our own water and packing out our trash, and the portable toilet was surprisingly clean!
If you enjoy nature photography, wildlife, birdwatching, and stargazing, this place is heaven. We saw deer, bald eagles, and a variety of other birds. Did I mention the whales?? Will definitely be back.

We had an amazing time at this spot. You are on the beach. It was quite rocky b ut being in an RV it did not matter. I flew a PPG right off of the beach a number of times. When the tide is out you can ride bikes on the sand quite easily. There are numerous places to drive on the beach North of the campsite. We did not have any close neighbors and honestly it made me want to buy a piece of property on that beach!

This location is perfect for a night or two, as it is directly on what seems to be a semi-secluded beach in a very small town. The site is more parking lot than campsite, but has easy access to the beach and it was wonderful to wake up to the sound of the waves and we played for hours on the beach. The manager, Jaenette, also runs the little store in North Cove and she was very nice and accommodating. I did find it disconcerting to walk back up to my vehicle the first day and find 2 other vehicles parked there, where a man approached me and asked what I think of the site. He then stated he is the property owner, which is not apparent in the listing and caused me some alarm that I was maybe illegally camping. I would recommend the listing makes it clear that you will most likely be dealing with a property manager and the owners live nearby and are prone to showing up, as they also stated their son owns the property next door. All that being said, we stayed for 2 nights and if all the improvements happen that were being talked about, this will be a little gem. Thanks to Jaenette, who was also very kind in helping me out of a jam as we were leaving.

North Cove WA Washaway Camping
The camping area was nice and there were plenty of chairs and tables to use as well as nice fire pits. The portapotty was clean. You're right on the edge of the beach so fairly exposed to weather, but unobstructed views and good wildlife watching (lots of bald eagles, deer). We had small kids and the camping area does have lots of sharp rocks that are being used to build dunes so you need shoes on until you get down to the sand and little ones falling get easily scraped. We were there with only our extended family and one other group of unknown campers so it felt pretty private, but if all the campsites were filled or if other campers were noisy, there wouldn't be much privacy. Overall, a simple laid-back vibe.

The directions and host are great, but the site is rough! Access to a beautiful beach is perfect, but if you don’t have a camper don’t pick these sites. The ground is extremely rocky. Also, there are some creepy full-time neighbors that kept walking through our site...one trying to sell firewood and another who walked through twice (once at night) and let his dog traipse through. If other campers are there they are right next to you. But the beach is gorgeous and you are almost on top of it. I would kind of recommend.

The view of the beach was amazing! Nice spot, no other campers around, so feld really awesome.
The toilet at the campground however was really disgusting, but luckely we had an rv.
But beside that, it was a great place to stay and we would highly recommend it

This was the PERFECT overnight getaway! Jaenette was so helpful with our same day booking - everything was clean and as noted. We were literally steps away from the ocean. We were next to other campsites so if you're expecting total 100% privacy this may not be for you. That being said, everyone was friendly, and there was enough privacy where we could change/have conversations without feeling like someone was invading. Would definitely book again!

Had a great time! The sites are right up next to the beach and have trees behind to help shelter against wind. Jaenette was very friendly and showed us to the campsite. Would stay again next time I'm in the state!

We were looking for a last minute Memorial Day camp on the Washington Coast and this spot did not disappoint. Right next to the beach (like, basically on the beach) with amazing panoramic Pacific Ocean views. The sites were closer together than I anticipated, but it ended up being a sweet little space. We brought a minivan and a pop up trailer and we had plenty of space to back in. We would camp here again.

What an awesome weekend at North Cove Washaway for Memorial Day weekend. We loved it! Gorgeous view from campsite of the ocean. We had 4 campsites. A large group of 8 adults and 6 kids (no charge for kids). Saw three whales roaming around for the day and a baby seal pup. I would say this is a great site for adults (perhaps with RVs because it is very rocky - the tent campers were not so comfy). Porta potty was nice and clean however they could use another one when there are many campers. The kids had a wonderful time, however there were many injuries because of the combo of clumsy kids and sharp rocks. The staff says they will be doing some improvements on the site in the future.

Awesome camping right at the beach. Fairly private and really beautiful. We would definitely recommend it and are excited to return. The hosts are very nice and accommodating.

Totally odd little camp spot in North Cove however, you're basically on the beach! This is definitely no frills camping but there are chairs, tables, fire rings and a very clean port-o-let. You can watch the waves roll in and we woke up to barking Harbor seals playing in the surf and grey whales spouting not far off. Jeanette was friendly and helpful and runs a fun little shop. You will not find closer to beach camping anywhere. Very few people around too so very quiet. Camp areas are a little rocky but adequate. Totally worth it for the enormous almost private beach!
