Located just half a mile from Speelyai Bay, the property provides convenient access to a public boat launch, beach, and park—making it an ideal home base for water activities, hiking, and outdoor adventures. Set along Brooks Creek (a favorite spot for kids to explore and spot critters!) and just outside Gifford Pinchot National Forest, this location places you near some of the Pacific Northwest’s most iconic destinations, including Mount St. Helens and the well-known Ape Caves. 🏕️ What’s Included - One large, private campsite—exclusively yours with no shared spaces - 3 full-hookup RV sites (30-amp) - Cabin (Recently renovated!)- 1 bedroom + loft, comfortably sleeps 4; with potential to sleep up to 6. Loft includes two twin beds and is best suited for children due to ceiling height. We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves, felt very open even with four boys. We had a few hiccups but the host was available to work out any problems.

The cabin was a perfect add on for some family members that aren't able to tent camp anymore. The owners have done such a great job creating a warm, functional cabin. Loved everything about it!

Beautiful spot! Close to the reservoirs and lots of great hiking. The toilet and shower were a treat since we stayed for 4 days. Most of the spots were shaded and we never felt too hot even though it was July. Will likely return here again in the future!

Lake Merwin Cabin
It was a wonderful stay in the cabin with my daughter and grandson. The grounds are beautiful and all surrounded by trees and flowers. A nice big fire pit and we enjoyed roasting our hotdogs, marshmallows and making s’mores.. It was only 25 minutes to the Ape Caves and the trail of Two Forests. It looks like a great choice for an RV without being jam packed and crazy loud like the Cougar RV and campground. Our host Sandra was also great!

THE BEST campsite at Lake Merwin

Lake Merwin Campground & Cabin
We spent Memorial Day weekend at this amazing private campground with three trailers and two tents—plenty of space and privacy for our whole crew. The kids spent hours at the creek catching trout and “axolotls” (giant salamanders, but don’t tell them!). Speelyai Beach is just a 30-second drive away, with a calm bay perfect for paddleboarding and a roped-off swim area. We also visited the Ape Caves for the first time—absolutely stunning! The central campfire was dreamy for morning coffee and evening s’mores, and the bathroom was clean and convenient for our tent campers. We are already planning our next trip back and would highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a private, family-friendly camping experience close to nature and adventure. Five stars all the way!
