Hairy Eagle Lookout 🦅

This was a lovely place to camp with an incredible view! Level parking for our 25 foot trailer. There is some slight highway 101 noise, but nothing that would keep us from returning. It was a misty weekend, so we hunkered in most of the time. The clouds amongst the trees made for a beautiful view. We enjoyed going into the very small town to the Tipsy Whale for nice cider and beers. Mostly, we toured around and enjoyed the sea lions, seals, and many birds.

Great views from pink table sight. Other sights not so much. Some young pine trees are blocking the view of all sites. Steep gravel entry does go to pavement higher up. We had a trailer and made it. Power outlets on wrong side of trailer so need extra power cable.

Just Go!

We had an absolute great time. We have stayed at Pink Picnic Table and now Yellow Picnic Table. We are already talking about our next trip. It’s very nice because it’s private and remote but you still have the luxuries of power, wifi and you’re not too far from town if you’ve forgotten something.

Green Table became the Yellow Table

The camp site had pretty great view to the water and mountain. Great spot to see the sunrise. The site is seated a hill top and a large flat green area with quick access to food and gas near by. We booked the green bench but we notice that it was broken when we got there. Luckily there was no other booking on the camp site that night, which the owner allowed us to pick another other camp sites. Nevertheless, the camp site are either too close to one another or visible by one another. There was running water, decent outhouse, and shower which was great. However, we do think that the pricing is expensive for the campsite location and amenities.

Amazing for camping!

We loved staying at David's camp. I would recommend the green table picnic site if you want some privacy. And in our case where we needed both yellow and pink sites for a large froup of 15 people - it was just a perfect camping experience witha pleasant surprise of amazing 2 swings etc! The air was so pure and we enjoyed the beutiful view especially at sunrise!

We stayed at the pink table spot and had a great weekend together as a family. We loved the view, and the big swing was fantastic. The outdoor shower came in handy after the kids played outside all day - and looked like it. 😄 Thank you David for sharing your property!

Pick your color cant go wrong

Nice views to the southwest including Mt. Rainier. Hookups shower and compost toilet included in rate. Quiet except for some traffic noise in the valley. Flat site for our campervan, plenty of room to maneuver. We had the place to ourselves, relaxing, private. One of the nicest hipcamps i have stayed at.

Great spot with a wonderful view! We stayed at the green table site and loved that it was a bit removed from the other two sites. The toilet and water were easily accessible. Directions to the location were clear and communication with David was easy. Would definitely stay here again!

Really nice camp setup. The amenities really made it special. We had firewood waiting for us, there was great potable water, and a shower. The view was really nice! We were pretty close to Olympia, Shelton, and hiking so we did it all! We felt the site was private and we truly enjoyed our time. Thank you!

I think these sites (3) would be great for a larger group where all 3 tables are reserved for a group.. It has a nice community fire place in the middle and plenty of space.

Nice campsite with a great view because of its high vantage point. Solar shower worked well and everything was seamless and easy. My only advice would be to bring your own firewood, the firewood sold by the property owner through hip camp was wet and wouldn't catch (understandable given the climate, but disappointing considering it was an upcharge). No grill available on site, so bring your own cooking equipment.

While overall our group enjoyed camping here, ultimately I would recommend it for smaller groups. We were a larger group (14) and there were a variety of other people at the other sites at the same time. Given the number of people, it would have been nice to have had more bathrooms and more than 1 shower. Also there were a lot of people using the water spigot especially with trailers at the other sites. That said, it’s a nice spot with great views, and the host was easy to communicate with. Recommended if you have it more to yourself!

We loved our yellow picnic table site (it was hot and our site had a little more shade than the other two sites). Great view! Pretty close to the pink picnic table (we like a little more precisely cactus so will try the green table next time). Overall it was great.

A little expensive/dissapointed

This was our second time using HipCamp. The site was as described. The photos made it seem cooler than it actually was. . The view of the river and Mt. Rainier was obstructed partially by the trees and shrubs. We only could get a clear view if we were standing on the picnic tables. We were delighted to see the electricity. The pit toilet was cushioned which made it a little better Other guests were quiet but the pink picnic table was very close to ours (yellow). We had no issues finding the road or going up the steep driveway.

We stayed at the Green Table for one night. The view is pretty awesome. The green table camp is set back away from the others and feels more private. We are fully contained so didn't rely on the outhouse or water. The site could use a little TLC, the table is starting to show wear and tear and there was a fair amount of micro litter around. For some, the sound of distant traffic noise may be noticeable, Overall, a good camp if you need something in the area.

We had a nice relaxing camping stay here! And, got to pick some delicious blackberries. This is our third time at Hairy Eagle and have tried all three sites. Each site has their own pros. The yellow table is our favorite for the vista, and the proximity to the water spigot as well as to the large rec. field. The 11:00 am check in time is awesome. Once set up, we can still enjoy the majority of the first day. Will come back again.

Didn’t see any eagles

Directions not great- no address to look for. No signage. Finally found it and I guess if you have a group of people you are camping with it’s okay but no real trails or hiking areas. Bathroom looked scary- glad I had my own. Ground was all bark and made a mess in our Rv. But really not a bad spot for night.

I loved the green table campsite, it is the most private of the three, with a cute little trail leading to a gorgeous view. You can see the river below and Mt. Rainier. The host really kept this place well maintained and the porta potty is very clean. Thank you so much for having us!
