Fern Hill Acres campground

Arrival wasn’t the greatest. The campgrounds entrance is behind a seafood place through a parking lot. Not clear at all it was the entrance. It also said to meet with host. Circled around a couple times then messaged the host asking for clearer directions. He replied in about 5 minutes. I messaged again asking for cabin specific directions and it took another few minutes for a reply. At which point I received an arrival message that I believe was supposed to be sent earlier but was forgotten. Host was away so I don’t know why it was set that I had to meet. Felt like he forgot I was coming. Once in, the stay was great. The bed was very comfy, cabin clean, and the little balcony was nice. Porta potty was clean and a very short walk outside the door.

I loved the cute little cabin in the woods. Nice little personal touch tea bag tin, firewood already split, and barbecue grills at each spot. I think needed a little landscaping. I locked myself out of the cabin somehow, but quickly got the code in the middle of the night. Im definitely coming back for future stays in the cabin.

Good when traveling through

Campsite #2 at Cedar Star Ranch

A nice campground in a backyard that is convenient when traveling through. The entrance and campsites were not properly marked so other campers were having a hard time finding their sites, especially after dark. But otherwise it was a good place very close to Bellingham just off the interstate.

Great Experience!

Austin has a great campground with both cabins and places for tents. The cabin we rented is GREAT, plenty of room, very comfortable, and the bedding is included!! There's a large building that can be rented for events and retreats, too.

We enjoyed this place very much! Austin was a great host. Easy-going and helpful. The land is beautiful and felt very safe. We were there in the winter so dealt with some rain & mud but overall a pleasant experience. We will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed our stay at Austin's property. Would highly recommend ! It was quiet, safe and close to Bellingham. Host was really friendly. Was able to purchase fresh caught salmon ---was delish!!!!!!

I took my dog and my kids camping here and what I loved most is there was something for everyone. The kids loved playing on the little playground and my dog could go run around in the fenced in off-leash Sniffspot area. The tent that was set up at the campsite was spacious and cute! We all had a great time and will be back.

Right off the bat, there was apparently some issue with the booking, where Hipcamp let us book the spot even if it was supposed to be blocked out. This resulted in the cabin bedding not being ready for us, because Austin didn't realize we were staying at the cabin. But once he realized what had happened, Austin was quick to accommodate for us and get sheets and comforter for us despite being out of town. (Thank you!) Location It's about a 15min ride from Bellingham, so it's very convenient! We were able to swing by a Safeway and Costco to get what we needed. Space The cabin itself is as described; quite cozy, but enough space for the two of us and our pup. While the space (cabin, firepit & table) is separated, I wouldn't say it's secluded, since there are other sites across the dirt road. Not a problem at all, but just something to be aware of. While there's not potable water, there's a sink w/ running water nearby, which was great for washing and collecting water to put out the campfire. Very convenient. The toilet was way cleaner than we had expected! Some things I thought would be great to have in the cabin: -screen door on the window that leads to the small deck -some sort of cover on the front door, to cover up the window. Overall, it was well worth the price and we had a great time! Thank you!

Overall, the experience camping here was good. Multiple portable bathrooms and firewood for use. Lots of activities available (tetherball, Badminton, soccer ball, etc). We used an "RV Site" for tent camping since it was last minute; it was just a patch of grass in the open next to the playground. If you want any privacy or a fire ring, be sure to book an actual tent spot. There was frequent noise overnight from the nearby passing trains and quite a bit of activity on the property. I did not hear from or see the host throughout the stay, which could be a positive or negative depending on who you are.

Overall we had a great experience, the sites were a little smaller then anticipated and hard to decipher exactly what was included in the site. The description stated that there was a picnic table and fire pit included but our site did not have a fire pit. I would not be opposed to stay here again but would be in consideration to choose a different site at this location.

Great mini campground close to town

We loved Austin's place! ❤ As described, clean portapots at each site, water/sink available for dishes, and even some amazing extras we didn't know until arrival. We stayed at #4 and there was a propane weber with grill tools available at our site with propane, ready to fire up! Loved the separate sites and campground feel. Will definitely stay here again!

This was a great spot, even though it is behind some businesses and houses, it felt woodsy. We were able to get our 28 foot Fifth Wheel in and it was relatively level. Austin was communicative, helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

Cozy, Comfy and Kid Approved!

The The tent was the first spot we stayed in at Cedar Star Ranch and it was awesome! My son thought it was the coolest thing and my boyfriend and I both loved the set up of this site and the grounds. This site was one where we wished we were there for a 3 day weekend. The tent itself was warm through the night, much bigger than expected, and very comfortable. The site, though in a central place was very private with trees and strategic privacy panneling. It was spacious and comfortable. I was also relieved that I found an affordable spot with a big cozy tent so that I could have reprieve from our normal tenting set up. We had a great time here! Austin was very helpful, laid back and accommodating. As an added perk, my 5 year old son is Autistic and has ADHD that can be considerably impactful when we travel or camp, which can make it difficult to find good places for us to stay. I am so happy to report that Cedar Star Ranch was 100% kid approved and he was sad to leave, and begging to come back again sometime. Thank you Austin for sharing your awesome set up. We plan to visit again!

Campsite #2 at Cedar Star Ranch

My little family loved staying at Cedar Star Ranch! The entire set up was great. Everything was close enough for comfort (utility sink, outhouses, playground/family area) but also was spaced out and private enough that we were extremely comfortable. We stayed in two different spots during our visit and we loved them both! The perk of the cabin was that we stayed there the last night of the visit and we didn't have to pack up air mattresses or our usual tent, etc. so the morning of departure was way less stressful than normal, as the one who coordinates everything (go moms haha) that was a treat! Austin was very helpful, laid back and accommodating. As an added perk, my 5 year old son is Autistic and has ADHD that can be considerably impactful when we travel or camp, which can make it difficult to find good places for us to stay. I am so happy to report that Cedar Star Ranch was 100% kid approved and he was sad to leave, and begging to come back again sometime. Thank you Austin for sharing your awesome set up. Great site. Clean and level. 15 minutes from downtown. What more could you want? Oh, bring some earplugs if you’re not into hearing the train. Otherwise a legit pace to camp for a reasonable price.

Nice Playground!

Cute place with a lot of potential my daughter enjoyed staying next to the playground so she was quite entertained while we hung out for the evening luckily she didn't wake up from the trains passing by

Campsite #2 at Cedar Star Ranch

The campsite was well marked upon arriving to the property, our site was spacious and having our own bbq with all the grilling equipment was great! Having a sink with soap helps too. Washroom was a porter potty, the one we used was well serviced. We didn't use the big fancy tent provided but opted to pitch our own tent because the big tent had a little bit of mildew, but the site was big enough to fit our own two tents and the existing. Overall, this is a well equipped site. If you're used to national campgrounds, then this is equiped and then some.
