Great place for fishing, caught a monster 22 inch bass along with a bunch of little catfish. Loved the kayaking and loved the campsite. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for some secluded fishing.

Private and Scenic campsite

My friend and I stayed at the "Hillside lakefront near Beach" campsite. I liked the site because it was very private. The site sits behind the goat and chicken farm, so be preppared for them to roam around your site. They generally didn't bother us, however the roosters did wake us up at the crack of dawn, as they're known for. The site was spacious, had a table and fire pit, beautiful lake views, and was a short walk from the kayaks. The site was a 30 minute drive from Pleasant Grove Park, which had miles of easy, scenic hiking trails. Charles and Steven were very responsive and explained to us where our site was, where to find additional firewood, the kayaks, the porta-potty, dumpster, and the general layout of the property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our campsite. We had site #2, a little peninsula that juts out into the lake. There were several spots that we could have pitched our tent, but we decided to pitch it right on the peninsula, surrounded on 3 sides by water. If you want more of a windbreak, you can camp closer to the firepit. The campsite was nice and cleared, surrounded by large trees, and had a nice picnic table. We didn’t end up using any of the provided boats but did use the porta potty, which was very clean. There is a big dumpster on site to dump your trash. Would highly recommend this place. Not totally secluded (we could still hear our neighbor’s music and talking in the distance, but also not crowded at all. It’s a nice in between. Glad we had a 4-wheel drive truck, so just take it slowly on the road that runs the perimeter of the lake to your spot. Our host was very responsive.

What a beautiful spot. We were lucky that our site was close to the access road, some of the sites are better accessed by cars with more ground clearance. Charles showed us two spots to get water and directed us to the Portopotty. The site was clean and had a firepit as well as a picnic table. The views of the water were beautiful. Loud site neighbors were our only downside, but that’s not a permanent feature! We hope to come back next year.

Beautiful place to go stay. We were right next to the lake. The kids had a blast kayaking and fishing and running around. It’s a very peaceful place. The only thing was that the road is pretty rough getting around the lake to the site. Thankfully we had an SUV that was able to make it

We enjoyed camping at this location. We were a little disappointed with the available kayaks. Other campers kept two kayaks at their site the whole day not being used. There were two available kayaks but only had half of a paddle to use between both. We decided to use the peddle boat but did feel that $65 for daily rental was pretty steep. $9 for an armful of wood if you are interested. Wood was a bit damp. Campsite was beautiful and clean. No luck fishing but had fun trying. All other camp sites were occupied, I will note you can hear other people from across the pond. This was fine for us but just an fyi if you looking to feel “alone” porta potty was about a 3 min walk from campsite which was fine and relatively clean. We do recommend this site if you are looking for a clean spacious camp site.

RV/Tent Site Pond Front

Our host was really nice. He came down to meet us and pointed things out. We rented the rv spot since it was the last one available by water. It had so much space. We walked around the property. You can almost make it around the big pond until the pathway stops. Beware of barbed wire by the path behind the other sites! There is a somewhat hidden strip that runs for about 30 feet. Our dog didn’t see it and got cut :/

This is a sweet slice of natural land a short drive from the burbs of Richmond. We tent camped 2 nights at the RV site overlooking the lake. Though other campers were in distant view you still had a since of privacy provided by trees, bushes & wildflowers. The goats, chickens & guineas added to the surroundings & went about their foraging with little interest in us or our curious Bichon-Yorkie. The night was filled with a few distant sounds of machinery & the morning wake up was a guinea call; all a part of being in a country setting. Surprisingly, our cell phone signal had a few bars but we tried hard not to look. We came prepared with our own facilities, so I can't provide comment on the porta potty or water pump at the barn. Waking up to the view of the lake misty with this touch of fall weather was settling & melted off stress. An early morning walk around the lake sights ducks & geese landing, frogs leaping on lily pads & the quiet of country living. The lake was a bit overgrown with weeds & we didn't get a bite, but sometimes that's just lakeside fishing this time of year. Kayaks were available on the sandy beach area & seemed in good shape. A simple rack or gated area could certainly improve organization for all the boats available. Charles is pleasant & responsive. He drove through checking in on everyone with different arrivals making sure all was well. He has a great vision for continuously improving this land & there's no doubt that we'll be back !

My boyfriend and I spent two nights here and it was breathtaking. The site the owner placed us at had a perfect view of the stunning sunset and a great space for our dog to enter the lake to swim! The site was really spacious and provided a ton of privacy between the other sites on the property! The owner Steven met us right at the entrance when we arrived and helped us load up some firewood on the way to our site as well as personally escorted us to the site and showed us the layout and where everything was that we would need. We didn’t need them this time, but he even offered to bring us over some kayaks, and we’ll definitely be taking advantage of that next time! We can’t wait to return with friends and enjoy this space again!

Perfect fishing/

We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day on the lake. I took my teenage sons for a camping/fishing trip and it was perfect. We explored the property and we all had our own personal kayak. My oldest son and I caught multiple bream (bluegill). We sat under a tarp for shade and cooked dinner. We slept out in tents and everyone slept well. Very chill spot with a beautiful view. Did I mention there was a perfect breeze blowing that day too? I highly recommend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💯💯💯

This place was lovely! Charles was helpful and communicative. Beautiful birds, butterflies, and plants around. The water was beautiful, especially in the morning. Private feeling with lots of plants and trees between sights.
