Learn more about this land: Come take a load off at this forested Richmond retreat overlooking Reedy Creek. Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately.  Campsite W ~  Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. For groups of five to seven adults there is an additional charge of $10 person per day. For groups of eight or more we suggest you reserve both sites and have the entire camp to yourselves. Campsites W and E are about 80' apart. Both are around 100' to the creek. The spots can accommodate a total length (towing vehicle plus trailer) of up to 35 ft. There is an outdoor spigot with potable water and hoses for clean up. The woodlands and creek adjacent to the campsites have trails that are accessible to the public. You and your furry friends are welcome to use these paths, but know that others may be using them too. Richmond has so much to offer and we are just a hop, skip, and a jump to many wonderful attractions - kayak or sunbathe on the James River, walk or bike on trails around the city, rock climb, dine, imbibe. PLEASE NOTE* These sites are on a private property with a house that is visible to campers, but we give our guests complete privacy and don't plan to interact unless you need something from us. While you are on a 2 acre property backed up to a 20 acre wooded area, we are still in the middle of the city and you will hear city sounds. This is a safe space. We do not discriminate based on anything that makes you...you.

I did not expect to be right in the backyard. Thought it is a wooded area we were right next to the owners and neighbors. The creek is gorgeous and a nice walk but not very long. The city sounds are very loud and more than expected. It was animal friendly but I would not return with my pets. The wild animals as well as the off leash dogs were not comfortable. It was a bit smaller than expected as well the pictures felt deceiving. The site overall is a nice place and they offer a lot of nice amenities! Definitely a nice spot for a couple! Would go again just in a different setting.

This is a gem of a spot! You feel like you're in the woods AND you're so close to all the Richmond action. The composting toilet and bathroom were very comfortable. The creek is gorgeous. Had everything we needed! Will definitely stay again.

Wonderful campsite! Peaceful and nature-ific; such a delight right in the city. Loved the included wood on site and hammock. Absolutely recommend and would come back. Note that the city noises at night (which host is transparent about) are real; there are trains with blaring horns every night several times, so just bring your ear plugs. There are also coyotes, abundant birdsong and the babbling creek to listen to :)

Beautiful trails and streams to say the least. While yes, you definitely know your in the city. The host do a great job with the site. Restroom is clean and fire wood+ supply’s were all readily available to use. The hiking trails are right there to explore and good for beginners and intermediate hikers.

This is a wonderful location tucked away in the city. A hidden gem. Everything is provided for you to include a bathroom and showers and a lot of firewood. Campsite E was very big and had many places to pitch a tent. We chose to car camp, but was still very close to the campsite itself. It has a play ground for children and a privacy fence to block you from the other campsite. The hammock is a nice touch, plenty of tables and chairs. Watching the sunrise over the creek in the morning was amazing.

This property was amazing. When we arrived on Sunday, we were greeted with some football, cold drinks, and BBQ. Our dog loved climbing the rocks and splashing in the creek.

The camp site was lovely! The creek and the wooded area surrounding it was very nice, we enjoyed a small walk through the woods one morning. The location is great to get into the city, with the bus only being a short walk away Sitting around the camp fire was great, and the free firewood was a huge bonus! The cold shower was a bit of a shock in the morning 😂 the amenities were clean and some basics provided. If we're back in the area, we'd definitely stay again Thank you for your hospitality ☺️

You don’t find many camping spots within the city limits yet feel like you’re in the middle of the woods. Such a cool space along Reedy Creek with plenty of room to spread out/group camp. There’s a fire pit on each site, firewood provided, a picnic table, chairs etc. Close to all that RVA has to offer yet secluded. The host is very communicative making sure you have everything that you need. I live within 15 minutes and I still book nights here from time to time just to get away! I highly recommend it!

Izzy’s campsites were private and wooded with a quiet creek flowing nearby. The location was conveniently located less than 15 minutes from downtown Richmond. Crossroads Coffee & Ice Cream is a short walk from the property.

This is another Hipcamp gem - a pretty, secluded, quiet camp spot in the woods with a lot of amenities and a great host, right in Richmond. I stayed there two nights while going to concerts at the Allianz and it was perfect.

Absolutely gorgeous little spot right in the middle of the city! Keep in mind, you’re by the water so you’ll be camping with the critters (: also ladies who camp solo, keep in mind this location is still in the city and make sure to exercise good safety precautions like locking your things in the car, and not wandering around alone in the dark.

We loved this campsite! It feels quiet and secluded, but is near everything you need. We loved how shady and cool it was in the woods. We were able to walk to some great restaurants and even stumbled upon an art festival in the neighborhood on our walk. Highly recommend this spot for a peaceful camping experience with city conveniences.

What an incredible spot! I visited Richmond to ride the Cap Trail, MTB at Pocahontas and see the city, and stayed here based on a friend’s recommendation. Could not be happier. How many Hipcamps are close to a city like Richmond? You are minutes by car or biking from Richmond’s downtown, Canal Walk, Carytown, Belle Isle and the Cap Trail. Pocahontas St Park and MTB trails are about 10 miles away. Fantastic host, and great campsites completed a 5-star stay.

This spot was perfect for a last-minute Labor Day getaway! Not too far from the city but still super peaceful and quiet. The site was really clean and well taken care of. They provided a lot of thoughtful extras like firewood and a bucket we could fill from their spigot to help put out the fire. We brought our dog and she loved it too. We did hear coyotes at night (only in the distance) but Isabella gave us a heads up so we felt prepared. Even with other campers and a few houses nearby, it still felt private and secluded. Would definitely stay again!

The absolute best! Isabella and her dad always make us feel welcome and you can’t beat the place. An uber away from everything and when you’re done with a city night, you get to hang around a fire. Nice bathroom and a shower before you hit the road

Great little campsite. Nice pit toilet and had firewood and firestarter available. Well maintained. My kids and I enjoyed exploring the creek, saw a deer. Everything was as described or even better.

Oh my gosh. What a lovely little getaway tucked away in the trees, minutes away from lots of trails and biking. We stayed for just a night on our road trip south, and Isabella’s property was the perfect base from which to explore Richmond! The campsite was clean and private, and offered lots of space to relax. The bathroom/composting toilet were a welcomed amenity, and there were lots of fun tips and local gems posted in the outhouse. Isabellas communication was thorough and helpful. We feel so fortunate to have found this spot!

Great camping spot in a city! Backs up to a brook which was nice in the summer heat. The host’s father and dog were very nice and offered to let us stay later if needed when it started raining while we packed up. The restroom building was clean and the included firewood was a nice bonus. Site W has a picnic table and two benches by the fire so lots of prep space. You can see site E through the privacy dividers, but still felt reasonably private.

Really cute site! Unfortunately weather didn’t permit a long stay for me but they are amazing! Super friendly and helpful, so many accommodations with the bathroom building and providing every helpful thing you could need. Would highly recommend!
