Located in Vermont’ Green Mountains, we are right next to some great hiking, climbing, biking and boating. Challenging mountain bike trails are literally next door to both of these sites. We are also almost within walking distance of Camel’s Hump State Park and the Long Trail. Our road along the Winooski River is close to I-89 and a 15 minute drive to Burlington or Lake Champlain. In the other direction, we are a 15 minute drive to Bolton Valley ski area or a 40 minute drive to Sugarbush/Mad River Glen or to Stowe. Some of the best rock climbing in the east is also right next door. In the summer Richmond has some awesome swimming holes. Our primitive high meadow tent spots at the top of our ridge offer you the feeling of being in the wilderness while still having close proximity to all of the other things Vermont has to offer.A short walk following the solar lamps up to the top of the sheep pasture will take you to the Sheep Shed - a nice spot with a beautiful view over our farm. We recommend setting up your tent next to the shed on the high ground. A composting toilet has been set up next to the site and a fire pit has been dug for your use near the tent site. Sunsets from this spot are beautiful! The night sky lights up around you on a clear night. You will wake up in the morning to roosters crowing and the sheep baaing at the barn for breakfast. The sound of the train coming through at night will be a big surprise, as it feels like you are far from everything. :) In very bad weather, you are free to sleep inside the sheep shed if you like. Fill your water containers at the house before you hike up.

Sheepcamping, a fun & comfy option
The sheep camp experience was great fun. I was in the area for an outdoor course that happened to coincide with the eclipse…so hotels were not much of an option. I decided to camp…and ended up sheep camping. The sheep shed with a deep bed of straw was very comfortable and a great way to winter camp without having to spend to much time on the camping itself as I had other business. On top of that, my hosts, David and Jill, were very friendly, helpful, and flexible. I highly recommend this option.
