With the main house built in the 1830s. This 9 acre property has seen many uses such as a farm/orchard, retail christmas store, religious retreat, rental cabins, and a gravel quarry among other things. I now try to keep the back acreage by the brook and pond as natural as possible for wildlife habitat, as well as you the campers!

I have 3 well spaced out RV/tent sites on the property. They fit different sized rigs so please read the descriptions. The Pond site is significantly larger and can hold multiple vehicles and tents or trailers (please add this in the extra vehicles at checkout if you will be having multiple vehicles or trailers). Pets are welcome at the sites, but please have them remain leashed or under your effective verbal control. There is no trash service, so please keep your trash secure from wildlife. Leave no trace! Most will have cell service at the sites or there is a free public Wi-Fi in Wilmington center. Private yet convenient to Downtown Wilmington, VT. Located between the Harriman reservoir and Lake Raponda, both great for boating, fishing and swimming. As well as the Deerfield River across the street, which runs through town. There is a public hiking trail (The Valley Trail) that goes through the property. It goes from the Fairview ave. boat launch in Wilmington, through town and hooks up to trails all the way up to West Dover. You can access this at the back of the sites. The sites are only a minutes drive from downtown Wilmington, or you can hike/bike there on the trail (approx 15 min). In Wilmington there is plenty of shopping, gifts, coffee, restaurants, laundry, gas, liquor store/ dispensary, electric car chargers, etc. I have dry, split firewood available for $5 on site. Please don't bring your own wood unless it is dryed and prepackaged from a retail store or bought from one of the local sellers right around me. Transportation of out of state firewood can bring invasive beetles to our forests...if you need anything else feel free to reach out and I'll do my best to steer you in the right direction.

Gus's Garden offers a peaceful and scenic camping experience, with many visitors appreciating the picturesque pond and the convenient access to trails. Gus, the host, receives high praise for his hospitality and responsiveness, contributing to the overall positive experience. While the campsite's proximity to the road may bring some noise, it quiets down at night, allowing for restful sleep. Some campers noted areas for improvement, like the distance to the bathroom, but overall, the feedback is overwhelmingly positive, making it a popular choice for those exploring Wilmington.
Gus's Garden was a delight! Our site was beside a beautiful pond in Wilmington with the Valley Trail right behind us. Gus was very responsive and we appreciate him sharing his beautiful land with us. We had a great time on the Valley Trail, at Bear Naked Brewery, and hiking Mount Snow. Wish we could have stayed longer! I highly recommend Gus's Garden and would definitely stay there again.
I had a great night here! It's beautiful, super easy to find, and right next to a little creek. The bathroom is well kept. Definitely a great, safe place to park for the night!
Foliage was beautiful. Site is very peaceful and close to all amenities. Gus is an exceptional host and respects your privacy. Our group will definitely be returning next year.
Beautiful location with a nice grassy yard for our dog to run in and play with toys by the lake. Also, the firewood was a great deal and the location was quiet. Augustus was very welcoming and helped show us around when we drove up.
Great spot, we arrived later than expected after dark but were able to find the spot with signs. Gus came out and found a rock to help get our tent stakes in the ground. Peaceful spot close to town. Flush toilet and a cold shower (did not shower), Would stay again!
Great spot right off the highway! Was a perfect spot on our road trip! Loved hearing the water behind the site at night! Gus was super nice and greeted us when we arrived and made sure we were all set! Will be back if ever in the area!
This was a great place to stay, really close to town, we were able to take the walking trail and have a nice dinner. The pond and the stream were beautiful and we would definitely recommend this place.
The navigation was a bit confusing. I couldn't find a trash or recycling bin. Overall it was OK to have a site convenient to our route this will be a super place with a few improvements. Gus was a nice host. I wish him well in thus endeavor.
I loved tent camping on Gus’s land. It was easy to get to as well. The pond site is very beautiful and looks just like the photos. It feels private and is well maintained. The only downside I would note is that you can hear the cars from the road and the bathroom is pretty far away from the site.
This place is cute and cozy. With many amenities included in the stay. There's a full picnic table, a cooking/fire area and youre able to get your vehicle right up next to the spot. It reminded me of many popular camp ground set ups without the 100s of neighbour's thay a traditional campground comes with. There's also a toilet, sink and shower in building near the sites. I honestly dont have any negatives about this the only room I could see for improvement is a step to the bathroom building. It is a bit of a bigger step but honestly thats the literal only thing I could see that "could be better" still rate this place and this host an 10/10
Gus’s property is an awesome spot, and the pond site is especially great. Access to the valley trail, the brook, and the Deerfield River and close to downtown Wilmington.
The site is grass, reasonably level and easy access. The picnic table is newer and there is a nice fire ring with cooking grate. The pond is very scenic as is the whole property. Gus is very nice and met us shortly after we arrived.
We got rained out before getting to walk the trail or explore the town. Plan to revisit in the future!
Beautiful and convenient! The property is absolutely lovely and my site felt private. A short walk to town but you still feel like you’re camping. Gus was welcoming and answered all of my questions. I would definitely stay here again.
We loved camping by the pond on site number 1. Fire pit, picnic table, lots of trails nearby to access town and other hikes. Route 9 can be a bit noisy but it settles down at night. It was very peaceful and you could walk to restaurants in Wilmington. Gus was there to welcome us and answer all our questions. We would definitely return here if we are in the area.
We had such a lovely stay with Gus! The campsite was exactly as shown in pictures/described. It was very easy finding our way to our site with the instructions Gus provided. We found that our site was tucked away and private, but still close to grocery stores, trails, and sights. Gus was very proactive in communication and made us feel right at home.
Gus's campsite by the pond (#1) was delightful. Lots of room, lots of privacy, and right by the pond. The pond wasn't great for swimming (lots of pond flora), but very nice for gazing at and for stand up paddling. Great price, and lots of fun things to do nearby (Starfire Bakery is one of our favorite bakeries anywhere). The walk to the bathroom is a little long, as advertised, but not too bad. There was nobody else camping there when we were there, so the privacy was exceptional. Gus was attentive and helpful but not in the way.
Just a great little spot not far from Wilmington. The bathroom was large and close to my site. Only cold water shower, but it was therapeutic. I loved all the native grasses. I added firewood to my reservation and it was more than plenty for my one night stay. And he brought the firewood to me when I arrived. He was a very nice host.
We planned on 2 nights but fell in love with the area. We wound up exploring for 5 days. Luckily Gus had a spot for us to stay. The campsite was a great home base. I especially loved the stream out back near the trail for a refreshing wade after a long day of fishing and hiking.
