This was a lovely site! The Maple Grove made it feel very secluded. There was some road noise from the road below and we could hear when other vehicles went up and down the gravel road, but that was infrequent and definitely not a bother. The outhouse was clean and the shelter seemed freshly swept for our arrival. There was a generous amount of firewood provided and it even included plently of smaller pieces and kindling to make fire building a breeze. Our tent is on the taller side, so it didn't fit in the shelter, but we still used the shelter to hang out and the hooks on it were perfect for my hammock. As far as wildlife, we had one coyote yip by our site a couple nights and one may have visited to sniff around the tent one morning. We heard plenty of wolves (and more coyotes) off in the distance, but nothing too close. Coming from PA, we were expecting to see more evidence of bears around, but didn't find any. Maybe the Maple lines deter them? Mosquitos have been bad everywhere this year and this site was no exception, so don't forget your bug spray. I would highly recommend this site. It seems well maintained and has the added conveniences of an outhouse, picnic table, contained fire pit, and solid-built shelter. Plus, it is gorgeous with the ferns and trees. Maple lines were fascinating too, but note that they are everywhere, so don't plan to hang a hammock between trees here.
