Come visit the picturesque Cabot Plains in Cabot, Vermont. This 6-acre site is nestled in a forested area at the height of Cabot Plains. Enjoy walking or biking from the site to the McQueeny–Cabot Recreation Trails, the historic Bayley-Hazen Military Road, and the AM Foster Covered Bridge, while taking in spectacular views of both the Green Mountains and Mount Washington in the distance. This property sits on the historic “Fortification Hill,” once home to the blockhouse at General Hazen’s camp. The area is rich with history, and we encourage you to take some time to explore it as we have. We recommend reading Cabot Historical Society – Bayley-Hazen Military Road by Peter B. Dannenberg for more information. Nearby attractions include great gravel roads for cycling, the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, mountain biking at Kingdom Trails and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, and several scenic hiking trails in Groton State Forest. You’ll also find Burtt’s Apple Orchard and live entertainment on Saturday nights at The Den at Harry’s Hardware — the local hardware store and community hub. Cabot is surrounded by beautiful bodies of water to explore, including Joe’s Pond, Marshfield Dam Reservoir, Peacham Pond, Nicholes Pond, and Lake Groton. Please carry out all trash.Main site

Many thanks to Randilee for being a great host and offering this awesome spot. This easy-to-access site has plenty of dry, level, ground and some great rock landscaping. The picnic table and fire ring are tucked back from the dirt road, providing privacy and some shelter from the elements. Make sure to venture westward from the site along Cabot Plains road to witness one of the best views Vermont has to offer.
