Two Great Smoky Mtn National Park entrances are within 8 miles! Leave No Trace mentality and simpler living, where wildlife abounds and zero city lights are visible. Motivation behind the creation of Smoky Mountain Sky Camp is to share with the public an alternative, nature-based vacation inspired by conservation with minimal impact. The treehouses are quiet, secluded, and actually border GSMNP property and Cherokee National Forest land; the Appalachian Trail at Davenport Gap is ¾ mile away. Nearby GSMNP entrances: Big Creek is 2.5 mi, Cosby at 8 miles. Only 3 to the Pigeon River whitewater section, and accessible to hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking roads/trails. Each treehouse was built by hand by hosts (husband/wife team) Anthony and Brenna. A long history of camping and working in the outdoor recreation industry inspired a design to intentionally interact with nature. By utilizing rain collection, solar power generation, composting toiletries, outdoor cooking, each treehouse is completely off-grid. Rest from your adventures on the comfy, queen and full-sized beds. A spacious queen bottom bunk and lofted double mattress can accommodate four adult campers. All bed linens and pillows are provided. The treehouses offer private, indoor bathing and toilet facilities. Every treehouse is equipped with a propane-heated, rain-collection shower and maintenance-free, vented composting toilet. All bath towels/washcloths, plus shampoo/wash are provided in each treehouse bathroom. You can dine al fresco in the trees! The kitchenette boasts wide concrete countertop table dining with four stools, two-burner propane cooktop, potable water and drain sink, and separate propane grill. Provided cookware includes pots, pans, cooking/grill tools and utensils, cutting board and knife. There are complete place settings for 4 glampers, plus coffee percolator and mugs (bring ground coffee.) There is no refrigerator, bring your own cooler and ice. Unique, spectacular views of nature are seen from each treehouse. Snowbird Mountain to North, Mt Sterling to East, Chestnut Mountain to West and Mt Cammerer to South. NEW for 2025: Short loop hiking trails onsite directly from each treehouse. Maps and directions provided inside the House Manual within each treehouse.

Treehouse #1 - East Gate

Treehouse #1 sits quietly on a northeastern facing ridge enjoying northern views of Snowbird Mountain and the eastern sunrise. The site for the treehouse was chosen based on naturally occurring tree cover and minimal construction impact to surrounding vegetation. It's as if the treehouse was placed on the mountainside completely assembled. The simple design showcases lots of front windows and an open porch to meld the indoors with the transformational qualities of the outdoors. An outdoor kitchenette leaves the treehouse interior free from clutter. A single cabinet houses most everything needed for a glamping trip. The monopitch roof has maximum efficiency in rain-collection for the propane heated, indoor shower. Raindrops on the metal roof will lull you to sleep on ultra plush mattresses. A bunk-style bed arrangement opens up available floor space while still feeling intimate and connected. Every aspect of the treehouse has purpose and functionality. A full list of treehouse supplies and inventory can be seen as a picture/image in the site photo gallery. A private fire ring and chairs are steps away. Firewood bundles are available for purchase onsite as a $10 donation to our local Bear Rescue (honor system through our Paypal/Venmo.) Additional camp chairs are stored inside the treehouse. New for 2025: Onsite trails across our 11 acres of property. The treehouse has its own short private loop trail. Still developing, the trails are not heavily beaten in yet but will get there with use. We ask that our guests participate in "communal trail maintenance": please leave no trace and pick up any trash that you happen upon. Our parking area has limited turnaround space and cannot accommodate vehicles with trailers. Nearby recreation opportunities include hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting and float trips, river tubing, a zipline, and rural mountain biking (Martha Sundquist State Forest and Mill Creek). The small town of Hartford offers a handful of eateries and a moonshine distillery.

Treehouse #2 is situated on a west-northwest facing ridge and enjoys close-up valley views and Chestnut Mountain in the distance. The site for the treehouse was based on the existing valley shape and steepness and proximity to a few large-trunk trees. It's as if the treehouse was plopped onto the mountainside completely assembled. A climb up a staircase reaches the broad open porch and sweeping view of the valley. The simple design showcases lots of front windows to meld the indoors with the transformational qualities of the outdoors. An outdoor kitchenette leaves the treehouse interior free from clutter. A single cabinet houses most everything necessary for your glamping trip. A full list of cabinet supplies is shown as a picture/image in the photo gallery. The metal, monopitch roof allows therapeutic sounds of rainfall to lull you to sleep and has maximum efficiency in rain-collection for the propane-heated, indoor shower. Treehouse #3 enjoys great direct sunlight and western views of Mt. Cammerer. You can hear the low hush of Tobes Creek flowing down mountain in the background during the wet season or after recent rainfall. The specific site was chosen based on an expansive view of the Mt. Cammerer ridge-line and the valley below. While the treehouse looks placed on the steep landscape, the parking area was carefully carved out of mountain rock. The simple design of the treehouse showcases the abundance of front-facing windows and spacious porch to meld the indoors with the transformational qualities of the outdoors. An outdoor kitchenette leaves the treehouse interior clear and clutter-free. A bunk-style bed arrangement opens ups floor space while still feeling intimate and connected. A single cabinet holds most everything needed for your glamping adventure. A picture of cabinet contents and supplies can be viewed in the photo gallery. The metal, mono-pitch roof reveals the relaxing sound of falling rain while you sleep while lending maximum efficiency in rain-collection for your propane-heated, indoor shower. Every aspect of the treehouse has purpose and functionality. A private fire ring with chairs is steps away below the treehouse. Firewood bundles are available for purchase onsite for $10 donation to our local Bear Rescue (honor system through our PayPal/Venmo). Additional camp chairs are stored inside the treehouse. The treehouse was amazing! So clean & cozy. Had everything we needed! It was so close to the AT and tons of trails. Would highly recommend this beautiful little slice of heaven!

Treehouse #1 - East Gate
This little cabin was cozy and had all the necessities! A shower, toilet, bed, and outdoor stove top and grill! Its even supplied with chairs to sit on, cookware, utensils, cleaning supplies! But the best part is, its away from everything.. not gonna walk outside and see anyone next door. The owner Brenna is wonderful and very communicative. She even made a binder with tips and things to do nearby! I was very impressed with the rainwater shower being heated well and quickly along with the compost toilet as it doesn't smell at all. We want to come back again!! Also, last but not least there is alot of shade provided by the trees making it alot cooler even with hot weather. The cabin is very clean and was bug free. Perfect little getaway!

Treehouse #2 - West Gate
Staying at Smoky Mountain Sky Camp was a dream! The treehouse was the perfect place to start and end every day with my best friend. From cooking breakfast on the front porch to ending the night by the campfire under the stars, this was a magical glamping experience! You are literally in the trees on the side of the mountain and it is so quiet and peaceful. Everything in the treehouse is so well thought out from the usage of the space for the beds, bathroom and heated rainwater shower, to the supply cabinet where everything is labeled and a guestbook with clear instructions on how to use each area. Brenna was a great communicator and this place made for the perfect home base to see the Smokies. Do note that the last 10 miles to the house is a very curvy, but paved road that boarders the National Park, so getting there before dark is quite helpful. Brenna gave us great directions so it was easy to find, and the drive was beautiful. We even saw a black bear cross the road (as well as squirrels, rabbits, and a possum). This treehouse is truly a nature lovers dream! Thanks for sharing your home in the woods with us!

Cute little getaway! Clean and as expected. We didn’t need much, but we had what we did need! It was off the beaten path with a beautiful curvy drive to get there. Loved the off grid features. A very nice and quiet get away with quiet homemade trails all around.

Treehouse #2 - West Gate
Brenna did such an awesome job making our group feel right at home in the woods. A perfect balance of rustic comforts, VERY comfortable beds, and being deep woods. The property is set up as good if not better than a national park, way more cozy, without the traffic, all the campsite amenities you could hope for and very clear helpful instructions from Brenna, she doesn’t leave you guessing at all, and can feel comfortable and confident in respecting their space. We stayed with two couples in a treehouse and had an awesome time. Cooked lots of food (brought our own cast iron pot for larger meals) and bring plenty extra water if there’s more than two of you. Five gallons goes quick if you are making coffee, cooking, and hiking. The trails on property were also so amazing, perfect for stretching our legs out after a late arrival being stuck in accident riddled interstate traffic. I immediately had my shoes off to enjoy the cushy moss bedded trails of the forest floor. These folks are awesome! Their property truly shows their passion for nature. I live off grid jungle in Kauai and already dream of coming back. I know my brother in Nashville will be there again sooner than I.

Quiet weekend retreat
Treehouse #3 - West Gate
My husband and I spent 2 nights here and it was the PERFECT weekend getaway! It feels very secluded. I loved that we could not see or hear the other cabins. We really felt alone in the woods. The cabin is simple and cozy. You are able to get the “unplugged, off-the-grid” feel without sacrificing convenience. It really is equipped with everything you need so don’t worry about packing a lot. We could have just brought food, a flashlight and our clothing and been just fine. The only thing that would have been nice to bring would have been an over-the fire-grate or a big cast iron pan for cooking over the fire if you would rather do that than use the stove. The little trails were also great. Don’t be deceived by the lack of mileage; the incline is pretty intense and still provides a great workout. We loved it and will definitely be back!

Fantastic spot! Only minutes to GSM Park trails. Private, cozy and just enough glamping amenities. Love the outdoor kitchenette and super comfy bed. Definitely returning for more than one night next time!! Hosts were wonderful.
