Blacks Fish Camp is Located in Smoaks SC off of Scenic Hwy. 61. The Camp is located on a Tributary off of the Main Stem of the Edisto River. We have 12 Tent Camp Sites and Two RV Sites with Septic Hookups and 20, 30 and 50 Amp Electrical Plugs and Potable Water Hookup. Separate Onsite Bathroom with Sink and Two Showers, Cement Boat Ramp with a Dock. Covered Shed with a cement floor and three Picnic Tables and Chairs. Water Hookup and Electrical plugs on Tent Site's can be used if you bring Extra Garden Hose and Electrical Cords. Enjoy the Edisto River in your Boat, Kayak, Canoe, Paddle Board or Small Boat. Take a 1/2 Day Kayak or Canoe trip downstream to Colleton State Park from Blacks Fish Camp. Celebrate a Birthday Party or Family Reunion. A Weber Charcoal Grill is located under the covered shed for your use Charcoal is not Provided. The different wildlife species you might encounter at my site includes Owl's, Beaver, Wildcat, Otters, Deer, Raccoon, Opossum, Armadillo, Alligators Coyote, and Snakes, Hawks and Osprey. We have a Wood Duck Box on site for Nesting. Note: Water Level in the Tributary may restrict Ingress and Egress to the Main Stem if the Edisto River. Perfect location! The camp was easy to find and everything was super clean and organized. James was very easy to communicate with and helpful. Will definitely be back. River was GORGEOUS.

We really enjoyed our relaxing one night stay. The area was quiet and there is a nice sitting area overlooking the creek. The facilities (bathroom, showers etc.) were great. Everything was super clean. We would definitely camp here again if we happened to be in the area.

My wife and I love camping at Black's camp. It's a very quiet and peaceful place to visit, enjoy all the wildlife, fishing, kayaking boating and more. This is our 2nd time camping at James Blacks camp ground and will visit it more often. If you like kayaking from the campground down to the boat landing at hwy 15 it takes about 3 to 3.5 hrs. If you fish, floating and take a break on the sandbar it's a bout 6 to 6.5 hours. There's no where else we would rather be. Thanks again James Black for this wonderful place.

Great spot on the Beautiful Edisto River with a ton of camping luxuries: covered river side picnic tables with sink and grill (coal provided also), lights, AC plugs, tons of firewood, canoe/kayak/boat launch, and more. Easy and fast tributary access to the river. *Check water levels before you go. The Edisto can really move when it's high!

Spent the weekend here. It was a nice tucked away little spot. Excellent for kayaking. Really nice that it isn't very far from Charleston. The bathroom was very clean and nice. Definitely recommend.

By far my most favorite camping trip. If you are scared of wildlife (snakes and such) this is not the place for you but if you truly enjoy the outdoors you will love it!!! Great host with great communication. Super clean space. We are definitely camping there again soon!

My stay at Black's Fish Camp was excellent. I camped there 3 nights and went kayaking 9 miles down the Edisto River 3 days in a row (a lovely river which flows about 2MPH and has very little development on it). Mr. Black's place is essentially new and has everything one might need to fish, kayak, canoe, RV camp, tent camp. etc. Firewood and "kindlin" is provided free of charge and burns easily and great. There is a covered area in which one can prepare meals, eat at picknick tables, etc. Beside that is essentially a new and excellent dock. There is a new bathroom and shower facility. There are two sites that RVs can use that have the "big amp", water, and sewer hookups. There are several electrical outlets within a few stamps us non-RV campers can use to make our coffee, charge our phones, etc. The place is fenced in and has a lock on the gate that one gets the code for just prior to arrival. Mr. Black was very responsive with all communications and is a most excellent host. I'll definitely be back, "Lord willing and the creek don't rise", as us southerners say. I camp about 10 times a year in various campgrounds in the Carolinas, and this one ranks right up there with any and is very fairly priced.

This is a very unusual place, a bit mysterious. I highly recommend spending a few nights here to experience the magical atmosphere. It is well equipped for camping. There is a shower and a toilet. Everything is very clean. Thank you to the host who prepared everything so well.

We stayed just one night and should have planned several more days. We just happened to be the only people on site. James met us at the gate and explained things well. The set up is clean and neat amenities all worked although we did not use the bathroom or shower we had what we needed. 54’ long bumper to bumper and had no issues getting set up. Fishing camp yes but it would also be a great place to Canoe or get any small craft in the water. We would return for sure. Thanks James for sharing your property.
