This was a really cool experience for my boys and I. The site may not be the right fit for everyone (I’ll put a few notes below), but we had a great time and my boys will remember it!
Pros:
- The goats are very friendly without being overbearing, my boys hung out with them a lot and they were totally gentle.
- The creek is beautiful and right at the site, we caught a ton of crayfish!
- The tent was well set up on the platform and clean. There were lights, a fan, and comfy air mattresses already set up for us.
- it was very private with plenty of room to run around and explore
- owners provided firewood at our site.
- owners were super nice and great communication
Cons:
- The walk to the site is a Lot. Thankfully the owners provided a wagon, but it was still really hard to pull all the gear through the field and up the hill on the way back. Pack light, and then get rid of 5 more things. This was way different from car camping so make sure you are in good shape to haul gear.
- The site is gorgeous, but there is a dairy farm across the creek. It smelled like a farm and there was a constant humming/occasional banging from the machinery. Super private but not quiet.
- good well water is available, but the pump is up by the car. Bring your own bottled water or containers to haul water to the site.
We had a great time, but like I said it’s not for everyone. If you can do a more rustic/backpacking style trip you’ll enjoy the novelty and privacy.
