GeerCrest Farm was settled by the Geer family in 1848, and is still owned and stewarded by the family. The house Ralph and Mary Geer built in 1851 stands and is one of the oldest in Oregon to remain in the same family. The farm features creeks, forests, pastures, orchards and gardens as well as the historic buildings. Currently we have four friendly sheep and a small flock of Mallard ducks to keep us company. The Pioneer Memorial Orchard features over 50 vairieties of pre 1850 apple trees. The Heritage Grove has ten fruit and nut trees that were recognizeds as a memorial the the early pioneers of the nursery trade by Oregon Heritage Tree program. The 20 acre property, offers three tent camp sites Including the Tree House site, as well as two forest cabins and a small forest bunkhouse (sleeps 6). Our peaceful, small farm offers a reflective immersion in nature and history among the occasional quacking of ducks and baaas of sheep. The scenery from all corners of the farm is incredible - a favorite is the westward view of the valley pasture at sunset -- called "Homer's View" after famous political cartoonist and Geer descendant, Homer Davenport. No matter which camping site you choose, the sounds of the creek, pond frogs, or conversing owls are sure to lull you to sleep. Feel free to roam the farm, but always leave gates as you find them, open or closed. Please say hello to our sheep and barn cats (they may say hello first). Explore the Heritage Grove of historic trees, the Memorial apple orchard and pear glade with varieties circa 1840s, indulge your senses in our medicinal herb garden, and chat with our farm family while they water the veggie gardens, if you so wish! Your experience will certainly be unique to the season. Your host Jim Toler represents the fifth generation of the farm and will happily share stories of the farm and it's history. GeerCrest Farm is truly an off-the-beaten-path gem.

Enjoy a short walk over a babbling creek footbridge and up a dreamy woodland trail to the bunkhouse. Overseen by oak, maple and fir trees, this lodging has a bed each for up to six friends.  Great for a family with kids!  The space features two twin beds and two bunks each sporting a pair of single-size (6'3"x2'1"x4") memory foam mattresses. We supply fresh sheets, waterproof covers and pillows and ask you to bring your sleeping bags!  You may open the windows on either side of the bunkhouse to welcome a refreshing cross breeze through the simple, rustic-yet-refined space.  North-facing french doors open up to a sizable covered porch revealing views of the surrounding trees and the not-too-distant barns and outbuildings. The cabin has electric overhead lighting. There is a sawdust compost toilet (also with switch light) off of the back porch.  In both daylight and moonlight, the restorative sounds of wildlife will be accompanying your retreat! *Firewood for the fire pit is not included, so if you would like to have an outdoor campfire, please add it on as an Extra, before booking your stay.*   The historic farmhouse is a two minute walk from the bunkhouse. On its back porch, you will find the shared outdoor sink with hot and cold drinking water and a dish washing and food prep area.  Feel free to enjoy mealtime at one of the two picnic tables in the grass lawn. Pencil in a v our small-but-mighty herd of sheep; two small ponds; and our various vegetable and herb gardens. Meander through our heirloom apple and pear orchards, watched over by historic hickory, black walnut, and English walnut trees. Please do catch a glimpse of the idyllic sunset over the west valley pasture! Silver Falls State Park is a 20 minute drive away. The park is full of beautifully curated trails that weave around and even under many epic waterfalls throughout vast forestland.  Silverton, 10 minutes away, is a quaint and historic town featuring a diverse assortment of eateries, food trucks, and grocery stores, not to mention a bustling weekly farmers markets and craft markets. IMPORTANT: This accommodation is a short, one minute walk from the parking area with a moderate incline up a graveled path. It is surrounded by forest floor vegetation so bring your adventure shoes. (We typically don't have any major mosquito or bug concerns, but feel free to bring your repellent.) There is a second HipCamp lodging and a residential cabin nearby. Please be mindful of sound, especially after 10 pm.

Understory Cabin
We had a wonderful stay at Geercrest - the cabins were really cozy, the kids loved the lofts, and I loved reading about the history of the property with coffee on the deck! The hosts have put a lot of thought into amenities and while rustic, it feels like a glamorous upgrade from the state park yurts and cabins we've stayed at. We can't wait to come back again. Thank you Jim!

Oak Hill Cabin
We had a wonderful stay at Geercrest - the cabins were really cozy, the kids loved the lofts, and I loved reading about the history of the property with coffee on the deck! The hosts have put a lot of thought into amenities and while rustic, it feels like a glamorous upgrade from the state park yurts and cabins we’ve stayed at. We can’t wait to come back again. So Jim was super cool he had a cancellation on one of his cabins and since it was raining he let me and my wife stay in the cabin cause it would be warmer really neat place

WoodBundle Bunkhouse
GeerCrest Farm is a little slice of heaven! We rented the bunkhouse for our daughter’s birthday and the girls had the best time exploring the property. So many fun things to do and lovely spots to enjoy. The hosts were very gracious and helpful - setting up badminton for the kids to play, and loaning us a camp stove so we could heat up some soup. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend.

We had an amazing time at the farm. The animals were super friendly, and the hosts were there for whatever we needed. The cabin that we stayed in was really clean and cozy. We enjoyed s’mores at the fire pit and playing cards on the back patio. The only suggestion I can make is to have a lower wattage lightbulb in the cabin. Thank you so much for having us. We had an amazing time. I would recommend these cabins to anyone who wants a wonderful farm experience.

We absolutely LOVED GeerCrest Farm. Wish we could have stayed longer. We had the Heritage Grove site with our tent trailer and it was perfect. Killed to sleep by frogs and crickets. Awakened by dawn and sweet ducks chattering from the nearby pond. Loved walking the farm and seeing the amazing apple, pear, plum, and nut trees planted by the Geer ancestors in the mid 1800’s. The Pippin tree was particularly amazing! Thank you, Jim, for sharing a little slice of your heaven with us

I stay here often when I have things to do in Salem. I am a very self-contained camper so I don’t use the amenities offered, but they are there if you need them. I am a female solo camper and I feel very safe at this hip camp. It’s quiet and the stars are beautiful.

My kids, my friend and her two kids stayed in the Bunkhouse. It was incredibly clean from top to bottom! The kids felt like they were in a fairy land. Beautiful woods all around the cabin, cute details and they loved visiting the ducks and sheep on the property. Jim was a kind host and very helpful! Made the whole trip smooth and fun! Would 10/10 recommend!

Incredible. Memorable. Picturesque. Camping & exploring, for all ages!!! Five stars, triple AAA, two thumbs up for any family wanting a safe, educational, fun camping experience. Our family of six includes a set of curious (mischief finding) 6yr old twins, a 10yr old girl who just loves to run and play and learned she also loves feeding sheep, and our 14yr old who couldn’t resist the charm and excitement of sleeping in the treehouse. Jim is a gracious communicator, making sure all of our pre-arrival questions were answered. He greeted us on arrival making sure we knew he was available and then gave us all the space and quiet we could want. Our kids had an absolute blast between the friendly sheep, the swing, and orchards — they only stopped playing to eat and sleep! We felt completely at ease letting them roam free. No doubt, we stumbled across an absolute GEM of Oregon’s; rich with history, with tons to explore, see and taste!

What an amazing place to stay! Such beautiful and unique property. Great location only 20 minutes to Silver Falls State Park for hiking and 15 minutes to Salem for dinner if you want. Jim is such a kind host and so quick to respond if needed.

My daughter and I truly enjoyed this beautiful Oasis. The host is so kind. The sunset was breathtaking & we laid out watching the stars, we actually saw 3 shooting stars! The sheep were so sweet. It was just so fun being able to wander through the farm saying hello to all the animals. We will never forget our time there, the neighbors next to us even introduced themselves , it was such a nice ending to our summer!

Tree House in the Valley
The treehouse was a fun overnight experience and GeerCrest Farm is an amazing and beautiful piece of land. My 6 year old daughter loved the friendly sheep, exploring the duck pond surroundings and tree swing. Jim was a wonderful host and I really enjoyed chatting with him and hearing about the properties’s history.

Absolutely beautiful land. The cabin worked well for us. The bunks seem to be from an old summer camp and are very narrow, like an army cot but with a mattress, just fyi. The history of the land and house was nice to read about. Great little camp fire area to cook and make s’mores. Water to douse the fire was provided. The compostable toilet was in a very clean outhouse with sanitizer and toilet paper and sawdust. We enjoyed the stay.

Nestled for the night under the boughs of a black walnut tree planted in the 1800s. Wandered through the little heirloom plum, pear and apple orchards, watched swallows darting over the fields and made friends with mellow sheep. Jim the host and family steward of this farm is genial and welcoming. We loved this spot.

We loved tent camping at Alder Meadow. The directions were easy to follow to get there. We made our dinner over by the farm house in the picnic area and enjoyed the beauty around us, including a gorgeous sunset. We camped in our tent, under the trees, it was relaxing. Jim greeted us upon our arrival and made us feel welcomed! We hope to come again!

My sister and nephew stayed at the cabin and really loved it! The host was laid back and friendly, and the cabin had a harmonious vibe and looked stunning at night. The sheep were fun to visit, and birds like swallows and ducks were fun to watch. Weird to say, but the bathrooms were nice and better than expected. It was a fun stay!

Oak Hill Cabin
Holy moly. This might be my new favorite place. The cabin and outhouse were perfectly clean and cozy, with electricity, a water dispenser, and a thoughtful washing station. We spent most of our time on the porch, marveling at the incredible amount of life in the area. Birds, chipmunks, spiders, and many unseen creatures rustled in the foliage on the creek. Swifts dove into the duck pond at dusk to snack on bugs. I haven’t even mentioned the organic farm and its incredible history, which should be researched (laminated info in cabins) to be fully appreciated. The sheep are friendly to the point of clingy. Button and Zipper, farm cats, loved scritches too. We ate apples and figs from the orchard and learned about regenerative farming practices. The sunsets were indescribably stunning. Jim and Samir were kind and welcoming hosts who seemed genuinely happy to have us. We will definitely make the drive back here someday.

Lovely spot! The cabins stay nice and cool during that day, it’s like a little micro climate. Beautiful view and I very much enjoyed eating dinner and playing guitar on the porch while watching the sunset. Cozy, simple and clean on a really beautiful property.
